All I have to say is that, like many of you, I am saddened by the conviction on three counts of aggravated indecent assault of Bill Cosby. It is a shame, and before any of you start calling him a victim, Cos had one of the best lawyers money can buy (same one who represented Michael Jackson several years ago on some very creepy charges).

No, we never want to believe it when people we’ve come to love are accused of serious offenses, and it is automatic for us to defend them vigorously.

But notice, I didn’t say “KNOW and love,” and that’s because watching someone on television, seeing them in movies, or listening to their comedy albums for many, many years DOES NOT mean that you know that person at all. It just means that you enjoy their work because it made you smile.

Cosby is 80 years old, so now the question is, “What happens next?”

Well, his attorneys will appeal and hope to overturn the verdict. But if they lose, Bill Cosby goes to prison.

Some of you say, “This isn’t fair. Cosby wasn’t the only star doing stuff with women not his wife.”

Very true, but Cosby got caught. He counted on a societal and cultural situation where powerful men were able to get away with this kind of criminal behavior towards women.

But thanks to the #metoo movement, those days are gone!

So I join many of you in praying for Bill Cosby and his family. He’s lost two children, he’s in bad health, and now he’s been convicted of serious felonies.

May Almighty GOD have mercy on his soul!

Edgecombe County May 8 Primary Election Who Will Be On The Ballot

Clee Atkinson for Sheriff, Carol White for Clerk of Superior Court, Toby Fitch for NC Senate and Shelly Willingham for NC House have NO OPPOSITION during the PRIMARY so their names will not be on the ballot.

No County Commissioners have opposition so they WILL NOT BE on the BALLOT.

Only school board races will be on the ballot but none of them have opposition but I believe write in candidates are allowed on Election Day.

Sharpsburg citizens can vote for the Mayor again because of a Special Election being held because in October the Mayoral race was challenged and a new election was granted.

Not sure why you’re putting my name in any of your comments in any posts on 27886 page. You don’t control what I do or say. I have a reason why I haven’t been on there. I haven’t been on that page talking about any of that stuff because of personal reasons due to me helping take care of my mother-in-law who is living with us after having a stroke. What you said to me about the Pink Ribbon Cafe has nothing to do with me not going on any Facebook page and commenting. I have more important things to do that involve my family. So I’m asking you to keep my name out of your comments on any social media site.

A Business In Tarboro Had A Grand Opening On Saturday April 22, 2018 And A Canon And Confederate Flag Was Used But The CommentsThough

I got a notification from Tarboro 27886 about a loud boom in Tarboro yesterday.

After reading the post on Tarboro 27886 I found the conversation to be quite interesting especially after the owners participated in the conversation and didn’t try to seize the moment but shared their ignant comments but want all folk to patronize them. But then I question are they trying to reach a certain group of white folk.

The boom was connected to a grand opening about selling guns so they seen the need to use a canon and a Confederate Flag. A white female said she felt it was not appropriate to use the Confederate Flag for a business that would be catering to all folk.

A person responded to the white female saying the flag was not about hate and about heritage. I posted that the flag is about hate and some white folk want black folk to get over it but some white folk can’t get over they lost. The owner had the audacity to come on the page and post my name and nothing else. The owner also posted a person’s name and nothing else. This person is always coming after me. So I asked the owner did he have something he wanted to say to me and he said go ahead and fuss because it would help his business with the drama. I said I only posted about the flag and nothing about the business.

The post about the boom went damn crazy and the ignant racist attitudes came alive. The original post was deleted.

The owner started another post and said, “So did anyone hear that Big Bang this morning… ??asking for a friend. …. Coming to town with a bang.” The owner said he was asking for a friend. Really! I made a comment on the page about the flag issue and nothing about the business until I asked the question were they really trying to get all folk to patronize them or just a certain group of white folk. The owner invited me to the business and I asked what did he sell and I never got a response.   

The owner said to me when I asked what was the business, what do they sell and his response was, “Curmilus Butch Dancy II main st. .. . As long as your money is green I don’t care”

I started another post and I said what do that suppose to mean? That should be a topic all by itself. I forgot to add I am asking for me and not for a friend!

I could go on but I am going to end here because you ought to get enough of what is going on.

I have an issue with the comment coming from a business owner especially when they are selling guns and posting photos of themselves in comments as if they are trying to intimidate someone.

I found the conversation to be interesting and questionable coming from the owner who are selling guns and bragging about selling AR-15s specifically since they have been much discussion in recent shootings.

Folk ya’ll better remember names because these folk may act as if they like you but they have hidden agendas.

I just got this notification and I just had to add it to my post.

Sarah Peveler a cannon fusillade to open a new business is very creative. Displaying a Confederate flag on town property is not. I realize that this action was carried out by the re-enactors and not the business but have to wonder how much “permission” was involved. I am grateful for this business and have had a conversation with ….. about the possibility of starting an Edgecombe County Women’s Shooting Club for those of us who like sports shooting. This is not about me as some of you have chosen to make it. I had the same issue last year when a for-profit vendor was selling Confederate flags and souvenirs at Happening on the Common under the the pretext that he was representing the Sons of Confederate Veterans. Again, it’s not OK from my perspective to use town property and a town event to display Confederate flags. This is the only response I choose to make on this topic. (And, yes Jay, thank you for delivering some firewood to me after you took care of others whose needs were greater than mine. I’m also not sure what that has to do with the issue at hand.)

Note: I know one thing I am embarrassed that a photo of the business owner and the Tarboro Police Chief and The Edgecombe County Sheriff took with him and then he is up here carrying on like this. Wow!

Work on Event Center nears completion date – Rocky Mount Telegram

A portion of the event floor was filled with chairs positioned in front of a stage.

It was a large display, as space arranged for those who played a part in the realization of the Rocky Mount Event Center as they spoke on Friday afternoon ahead of a limited tour.

The size of the center is immense, as the large crowd took up just a portion of the space allocated for sports tournaments and concerts on the massive event floor that can hold eight basketball courts and 16 volleyball courts.

Construction of the Event Center is still ongoing, with a completion date set for this fall. On Friday, sections of the large facility were available to walk through. Space for offices could be seen, as well as plans for much more on the upper levels. (Read more)

Edgecombe County Democratic Party Chair And His Followers Are Not About Democratic Candidates And Must Be Supporting Trump Agenda

It is a damn shame that the Edgecombe County Democratic Party County Officers have no clue of what they are doing and act as if we do not have a Primary Election in May.

The following b.s. talks about where our hearts and minds should be when their hearts and minds need to be getting the hell out of the way so the party can move forward as it relates to the May Primary Getting Out The Vote but nothing is mentioned here.

The reason for a meeting that the chair is rescinding would be to get the damn party organized, to be organized for the District Convention and to get out the vote in the May Primary.

There has not been anything official coming from the county party as it relates to the upcoming District Convention who the delegates are and etc. But they are busy announcing meetings and rescinding meetings.

It tickles me the short list of Democrats that received the emails the same names that the meeting notices were sent to and then now letter rescinding the meeting.

I am tickled to death that these Democrats are listening to Lawrence K. Taylor and Rev. Roosevelt Higgs.

Dear Executive Committee Member,

We should all be excited about the Blue Wave that is building across North Carolina and the country. This is an opportunity for us to do our part in the mid-term ad fall elections. It can be done with EVERYONES help.

Edgecombe has always been one of the top counties for voter turnout and this year we want to do even better. All it takes is volunteers, strategy, and adequate funding.

In order for us to become more united and focused on our tasks ahead of us we will have a called meeting of the Executive Committee on April 23, 2018 at 6pm. The meeting will be held at the Administrative Building in Tarboro, NC. We will clear up any issues, concerns, as well as the Treasurer’s Report. We will also outline all upcoming Democratic Party activities such as the District Convention.

We will discuss candidates and offices in both election cycles this year. Each precinct officer or representative should come prepared to actively participate in the “Get Out to Vote” initiative.

We should all be proud to be Democrats and in order to maintain the ability to fully engage In the Blue Wave process we will need everyone to be thinking of fundraising activities and recruitment strategies.

This is our party and we want the Edgecombe County Democratic Party to continue to uphold and exhibit true Democratic values and morals.
