With a direct economic impact of over $130 million dollars, Elizabeth City State University (ECSU) is an economic powerhouse to Elizabeth City, Pasquotank County and the entire north eastern North Carolina region. The U.S. News and World Report’s 2014 Edition of Best Colleges ranked ECSU #1 in the Top Public Schools Regional Colleges (South) category and #20 among the nation’s Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Under the administration of Dr. Willie J. Gilchrist, ECSU saw the highest enrollment in its history. These are just a few of many successful milestones that we have seen in recent years. However, they are often swept under the rug by the media, and others who constantly seek to tarnish the image of our illustrious university. Instead of embracing our university some constantly seek reasons to justify why they cannot accept ECSU for what it is truly worth. The old adage is true, that you are often more respected outside of your own hometown. (More)
"Republicans’ new Obamacare attack line hinges on allegations that the contractor in charge of building the disastrous healthcare.gov website landed the gig through sweetheart deals from the Obama administration.
But according to Federal Election Commission records, that company’s PAC gave more to House Republicans than House Democrats during the 2012 cycle — including a $2,000 check for the GOP’s chief scandal investigator, Oversight Committee Chair Darrell Issa. What’s more, executives of CGI Federal personally gave more than twice as much to GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney than to President Obama.
The contractor has also feasted on more than $2.4 billion worth of IT work dating back to the early Bush Administration." (More)
If you notice in the picture below for the 1st time since dating back to the beginning of the meetings in the new town hall I have this nice picture of all of the commissioners face. I normally get the back or the side of the 2 commissioners on the far right end of this picture. But at this meeting the room was set up so that only one person could set up to video where room has normally been for the media. The mayors husband set up and took up the entire area so therefore I set up where I am and I loved it. This is where I will set up in the future. What the devil meant for bad turned out to be damn good to me. And for the record I was hoping someone was going to say something about where I had set up because I was ready! The Open Meetings Law Document is a powerful statue and I would have whipped it out on them. Well!

Response: I normally do not post articles like this however I think I am going to begin to post stuff like this in the future as it relates to Edgecombe County. Black criminals are in the paper all the time however some don’t think that stuff like this is happening in the white community or should I say whites committing crimes. Look at what this person has to offer versus what you normally read about what the blacks in this business has to offer.
TARBORO — Law enforcement made another heroin arrest Wednesday when they nabbed a Pinetops woman heading back into the county from Scotland Neck.
According to a press release, after receiving information, the Edgecombe County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit along with a Tarboro Narcotics officer, sat patiently and waited for 35-year-old Porsha Lee Lassiter to enter Edgecombe County. Response: Another Charter School. I know Mr. Powell on a personal note and consider him a good friend. However I am not a supporter of Charter Schools. I have no problem with those whom do. I have some family members who attend the NECP but my child will continue to the Edgecombe County Public School System. It was good enough for me in spite of although I have had to challenge the system on others behalf over the years as an education advocate long before I had a child in the system.
TARBORO — A letter of intent filed by The Nola House Charter School, has been approved by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction’s Office of Charter Schools. While the exact location of the proposed public charter school is yet to be decided, it will likely be in the Edgecombe County portion of Rocky Mount Rocky, said a school spokesperson.
The school’s next step is submitting a full application in December to the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, with a proposed start date of fall 2015.
If the charter is approved, the school would become the second start-up charter school in Edgecombe County in a three-year period. North East Carolina Prep School (NECP) opened in Tarboro in August 2012. (More)
Response: Not only did Theresa Williams not attend I have not heard why she did not attend. I find that quite interesting because the political correct thing to have done would have to been to send a message for the reason she did not attend or better yet to have sent someone to represent her.
TARBORO — PRINCEVILLE — The three candidates for mayor who attended the "Meet and Greet Town Hall Meeting" forum Saturday at Princeville Elementary School, agreed that the town needs a cohesive board and jobs to help push the town forward. RALEIGH — Gov. Pat McCrory rejected a call to convene a special legislative session to add more low-income residents to the state and federal health insurance program.
His comments came in response to a news conference called Monday by expansion supporters who again pushed their reasons for allowing more low-income people to sign up for Medicaid.
The GOP-controlled legislature voted this year to reject Medicaid expansion, which is an optional part of the Affordable Care Act. Those who want expansion, including two Democratic legislators, a doctor, a health policy analyst and an advocate with Protect Your Care, said at a news conference Monday that the benefits of expanding Medicaid are becoming clearer as time passes. There has been a polite but pointed exchange of letters between Republican Gov. Pat McCrory and three of the state’s Democratic congressman about the Raleigh administration’s handling of federally-funded anti-poverty programs during the government shutdown.
The exchange started when the three Democratic Reps – David Price, G. K. Butterfield, and Mel Watt – sent a letter to McCrory inquiring why North Carolina seemed to be the only state to interrupt funding of the old welfare program, now known as the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families Grant or TANF. I am Curmilus Dancy II (Butch) a 50 year old grown ass proud to be black man and I don’t play especially when it comes to POLITICS because POLITICS deals with people lives. I do not take people lives as a joke so I don’t joke when I am doing POLITICS.
I am the founder of Dancy Communications Network (The DCN) and The DCN TV however I give all the credit for The DCN TV to a white guy by the name of George Fisher whom found me on the internet and liked what I was doing.
The DCN is not a non-profit and is totally funded by me but every now and then I get a donation from some folks.
I will never become a non-profit because I will not be limited to what I can say and do because I say what I mean and mean what I say. I am with whomever is right be it family, friends and others.
I hold others accountable for their actions and I ask others to hold me accountable as well. My goal is and always have been is to make sure the truth is made known and to challenge anyone and everyone when they attempt to mislead folks. Tell the truth and everything will be fine but don’t let me find out you are misleading folks because I am not like other folks who talk about you behind your back and not confront you.
What tickles the hell out of me is I volunteer my services to individuals, groups and others and some of these folks act as if I owe them something. Everything is alright until I hold them accountable for their actions and then they turn on me but attempt to make it appear I turned on them. Oh hell no I am the same yesterday, today and tomorrow and I make it clear that I am not a scared NEGRO. Many white and black folks ain’t used to a black man speaking truth to power so that is why in the past I have been called a racist by whites and a militant by blacks. I have been called some other choice words too however I don’t care because I know who I am and whose I am.
Some folks have said I have and am trying to make a name for myself. Really? What a hell of price I am paying because the time, my equipment and etc. is a cost.
So family, friends and others, I stop by to tell you that I don’t bother nobody and when others bother me then it is on. I love it when Ignant Racist Ass White Folks and Ignant Ass Safe Negroes try to discredit me. Well some folks have been trying since the late 80’s when I first got involved in community and political activism. Well I am not going to give you that glory because you see it is you who keep me motivated to do the right thing.
You gonna learn the day!

Don’t get mad with me because I say what I mean and mean what I say!
Don’t get mad with me because I say what others say behind closed doors or in small groups and then they are scared to own up to what they have said! I am talking about good things that could help the community but they are afraid to say it publicly because they are afraid of how others will look at them. But when I say it, I get credit for what they have said but some others don’t know who actually said it. Hell I don’t say it for the credit, I say it because it is right and need to be said.
Don’t get mad with me because I call you out simply because that is what a true friend or someone that cares about you will and should do!
Don’t get mad because I will hold you accountable for your actions and because I want you to hold me accountable for mines but you better come correct!
Don’t get mad with me because I work a real job and then volunteer my services to do what I do when one wants to say that I am trying to promote my blog, hell I don’t get paid for that!
Don’t get mad with me because I am who I am and that means I know who I am and whose I am.
So don’t get mad with me because I am who I am and I will be just that until the end!
I will not be mad if you do not want to talk to me or connect to me via my blog, facebook, twitter and however but do know that I am a grown man and I say and do grown man things!
I love you and it ain’t nothing you can do about it inspite of if I have said something that may have offended you, hurt your feelings or whatever.
I am Curmilus Dancy II The Political Agitator so you can accept it or you can be one mad person because I am not going to change for you.

Former Rocky Mount Police Chief John Manley was named Thursday as the new police chief of Elizabeth City State University.
