The Watch Dog Is What I Started Out As But When Folk Started Calling Me An Agitator I Changed To The Political Agitator

Because I am involved in many things and not just politics I am going back to the name The Watch Dog. Congressman G.K. Butterfield gave me that name around 15 years ago but when folk began calling me an agitator I changed my name to The Political Agitator. However for me all things are political and I eat, drink and sleep politics.

When I call in to the Larry Hall Talk Show (Talk Back) on FM 104.3 on Sunday mornings from time to time, Rep. Larry Hall when he hears my voice he call me The Watch Dog Of The East.

Although I have changed my name back to The Watch Dog, I will still be The Political Agitator also.

Some folk will call me Curmilus, Butch, The Watch Dog, The Political Agitator, The N-word and more but I know who I am and whose I am. Some will love me and some will hate me but that’s okay, because I am going to love everybody even my enemies. You see it ain’t about them anyway! It is all about him!

Member of a church? Regularly go to church? Then this post is for your consideration by Pastor Eric Evans

Curmilus Dancy II response: Please check out Pastor Eric Evans Facebook page shares a daily message.

I believe the greatest threat to any local church is not an attack from the outside, but divisions on the inside. Bickering, arguments, and grudges can totally diminish a church’s effectiveness in accomplishing the mission that God has given us. If you’ve been a part of a church for any amount of time, it’s likely you have witnessed it for yourself to some degree. It’s nothing new. Since the earliest stages of the Church, internal divisions have been a problem. In fact, the Apostle Paul recognized it and warned against it in his letter to the church in Corinth.

So, how do we guard against divisions? There are several things I could suggest, but today I’ll share just one. Here it is….We need to make sure that we form our church bonds around what matters. Think about the many reasons people will start a church or join a church. Some people come together around the leader. Some come together because of worship style. Some churches are held together because of family history. I’m sure you know some people who only join a church because that was momma’s church or great grand pappy helped to lay the corner stone. Now hear me, in and of themselves, there is certainly nothing wrong with those reasons for being a part of a church. But when they are the only reason, or the main reason, then that church is in jeopardy of divisions. I mean, what do you do when the leader leaves or heaven forbid, dies? Some people will leave, while others will stay just to gripe up a host of complaints about the new one that comes in. What if your worship style does not offer enough variety to speak to the multiple generations and diversity you hope to have in your church? One group will fuss if you try to sing new songs, and another will fuss if you don’t. What if your outreach actually reaches out, and people who have no connection to any of the families in your church start to show up. And what if they look nothing like you and act nothing like you? What then? The ones who hate change and expect the landscape of that church to always be like it was when they joined will find every opportunity to run down or push out the new folk.

I think we’d do well to look at the church in Corinth to which Paul was writing his letter. If we could climb into a time machine and go back to attend one of their church gatherings, we would be blown away. Some in fact might be offended, or at least terribly uncomfortable. You see, Corinth was at the center of trade in the Mediterranean Sea, and just about dead center in the Roman Empire. And because of that, it was marked by unusual diversity. In that church, you would find Jews and Gentiles, the civilized and barbaric; rich and poor; light skin and dark skin; middle easterners, Europeans, Asians, Africans and everyone in between. So how in the world could people so different come together to have a meeting, much less form a church? I’ll tell you why. Because every time they came together as a church, they abandoned the many, many things they disagreed on to focus on the one they did….Jesus Christ and spreading His good news.

But even the Corinthian Church faced the internal threat of discord, as I’m sure your church and my church may face at times as well. But it doesn’t have to. Let me remind you to keep Christ at the center and make sure that your church matters are the things that matter to God. I believe Paul’s epistles are God’s letter to His church today. And let us who are a part of a church take heed to God’s words through Paul when he said in 1 Corinthians 1:10 “Let there be no divisions in the church. Rather, be of one mind, united in thought and purpose”.

Church folk time out for a lot of foolishness!

I have been misunderstood because I am a smart black man when it comes to saying what I mean and meaning what I say. I don’t just say stuff, I think before I say something.

I have been accused of attacking folk because I say what I mean and mean what I say but it was far from the truth. Attack is a powerful word. I don’t attack folk.

See how Webster defines attack. I will challenge anyone who says I have attacked them.

The last time I was accused of attacking someone was during church conference meeting and I have stated over and over again that I refuse to be about confusion in God’s house. However when I say something and it offends you, then that is your problem.

It had been in the making of nominating Trustees and Mothers to be added to the current boards.

The process was that names be submitted to the Deacon board for them to do the vetting process.

The vetting process was done and the names were brought back to the conference (whole church). I was not at this meeting when the names were presented by the Deacon Board. However I understand there were 2 folk who questioned if some of the nominees had served on a board before and stepped down for various reasons, do that qualify them to be able to serve again. Well a member in good standing and after considering serving, been vetted by the Deacons, then they have all rights to serve in capacities in the church plain and simple. Okay I thought that the names were now up to be brought back to the conference (whole church) to be voted on.

Now it was time for the voting at this conference (whole church). One of the 2 members didn’t show up after all of the questions during the conference before. After the ballots were passed out the member who had and still had questions, asked the pastor so what are we suppose to be looking for in the candidates, the criteria, what would their duties be, what criteria should be used. Then the member with the question asked a Trustee what was his duty? Then the member went asked what should we look for to say they are a good Trustee? Another member went on to say the nominees have shown they are qualified.

I then asked can any nominations be done from the floor? Response was no. I asked has anything changed in the by-laws since the last meeting about the duties and qualifications that I need to be made aware of? I said didn’t the names go to the Deacon Board for them to vet and bring back to the conference (whole church). I said I trust in my Deacons and if I had any doubts about anyone tonight on a personal note, I would trust in my Deacons to make a sound decision that they feel comfortable about the nominees serving. I said I am speaking for myself because I can do that so don’t get it twisted because I can do that. I said it again I trust in my Deacons so tonight I can check Yes For or No Against by individuals names because I don’t see why we need to stay here all night because we are all grown folk. I understand others have questions and I ain’t saying they can’t ask question but I just be glad that in some point and time that in the church that we do things and move forward.

The Pastor then said he was going to address this one issue and then we going to vote.

Now if I wanted to show my ignant side and trust me I got one, I would have called for a point of order, since Robert’s Rule could have applied but I was trying to be nice and make it about the process. I stated earlier that I am not about confusion in the church because I refuse to get ignant in the church but that is my desire.

After conference was over the member that had the questions/concerns about the criteria/qualifications for the electing of Mothers and Trustees went to the front of the church and said to the Pastor and others that I attacked her and that I had been doing so and nobody has said anything to me. She said that I was new to the church and she has been there for years. Well I have been there for around 4 or 5 years and she has been there for about 50 I guess. Yes I am very vocal in bible study and I have stated over and over again that I am going to hold folk accountable for their actions and that they hold me accountable as well.

I understand this person said I have attacked them before I want to say that is also a lie because again I have never attacked them.

I have been dealing with this issue since December 30 because I don’t like to be accused of something that is false. I own up to what I do and if I see a need to apologize for being ignant I will. But I can’t see anything I did wrong during this conference nor at any bible study either. It is obvious this person has an issue with me but I ain’t going to change for them.

I have no permanent friends, no permanent enemies only permanent interest.

The Global Genius of President Barack H. Obama

When you are considered by millions of people across the nation and throughout the world community to be the “Leader of the Free World,” that is an awesome and serious international responsibility. Do you remember when President Obama was first elected eight years ago? There were numerous pundits who questioned whether or not the first African American to be President of the United States of America had the fortitude and intellectual capacity to provide leadership not only across the country, but also on the worldwide geopolitical stage.

This month as President Obama prepares to enter his last year as president, it is important to state for the record that I believe history will one day stipulate that Barack H. Obama was in fact the most successful President of the U.S. That is a fact in terms of Obama’s leading the restoration of the nation’s economy, reducing the deficit, increasing employment, providing health care for the first time to millions of people, innovating the energy sector, leading the world toward environmental and climate protection, and challenging racism by irreversibly shattering the myth of white supremacy. Trial to start over North Carolina’s voter ID law – The Washington Post

The Political Agitator’s response: Anyone black, brown, white and other that believe in doing what is right and fair know that the Voter ID Law is far from either. The issue is some ignant racist white folk just happen to have the power, they used their white privilege to attempt to afford even good white folk who know it ain’t right to be able to benefit from such. Hell no all white folk don’t like it! But one thing about it, as Rev. William Keys preached today, I Believe God! I believe one one day the Voter ID will be made right and fair.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Rosanell Eaton still remembers the day 70 years ago when she traveled two hours with her mother in a mule-drawn wagon to register to vote at the county courthouse. Before she could, she was forced to take a literacy test.

“What are you here for, little lady?” Eaton recalls a man at the courthouse asked her. When she told him, he instructed her, “don’t miss a word and speak the Preamble of the Constitution of the United States of America.”

“Without missing a word, I did it,” she said. (Source: Read more)

GEORGE WASHINGTON CARVER ARTIFACTS HOUSED IN OLIVER NESTUS FREEMAN ROUNDHOUSE MUSEUM – WILSON, NC

Source: Victor Marrow

When I was the Town Administrator for Enfield, North Carolina in 1995, Commissioner Harold Sullivan, Mr. M. L. Banner, and I took a special trip to Tuskegee, Alabama to sign an agreement between the Tuskegee Institute National Historic Site and the Town of Enfield. It was hopeful that the partnership would result in establishing the North Carolina National Peanut Museu/Cultural Center to be located in Enfield. Tuskegee committed to providing information and technical support for the development of a musuem chronicling the peanut industry in America, and George Washington Carver’s contribution in particular to the industry. Tuskegee would also have played an important role in the George Washington Carver exhibit by locating various artifacts and exhibits.

After years of work, I am delighted to report that some of those artifacts are now on loan from the Tuskegee Institute National Historic Site to the Oliver Nestus Freeman Roundhouse Museum in Wilson, North Carolina.

Oliver Nestus Freeman was born in 1882 as the son of a former slave, Oliver Nestus Freeman like many other African-Americans in Wilson, NC found few opportunities. Educated at the Tuskegee Normal School in Alabama, Freeman returned to Wilson and helped construct a number of houses to help alleviate the shortage of housing for soldiers returning from World War II. Freeman’s contributions to Wilson’s architecture and affordable housing efforts were recognized by the naming of Wilson’s first housing redevelopment project – Freeman Place. (See http://www.theroundhousemuseum.com/about-freeman.html)

Opened in 2001, The Oliver Nestus Freeman Roundhouse Museum has served to preserve, promote and present African-American history, art and culture to all citizens of Wilson and the region in order to increase the awareness, understanding, and appreciation of cultural traditions and African-American contributions to society. Please take the time and visit the Oliver Nestus Freeman Roundhouse Museum in Wilson, North Carolina.

Same-day registration, out-of-precinct voting returns – WNCT

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — North Carolina voters again have two options for casting ballots in the March primary that were repealed for 2014 elections — at least for now.

The General Assembly had stopped allowing people to register to vote during the early voting period and cast ballots the same day. And they also decided ballots voters cast on election day in the wrong precinct would no longer count. (Source: Read more)

New utility rates will save money for most Rocky Mount customers – Rocky Mount Telegram

There is obviously a great deal of misinformation being discussed about the recent Rocky Mount utility rate changes.

The City Council approved a significant rate decrease which will lower utility bills for electric and natural gas customers.

Electric service customers will receive an approximate 14 percent decrease. Natural gas customers will benefit from an overall 7 percent decrease in the bills.

The average residential electric service customers using 1,000 KWA per month and taking full advantage of the load management program will now pay $115.00 per month compared to $134.79 per month under the prior rates. (Source: Read more)

The Message Of Peace Starts With: Civility…Courtesy…Tolerance

The Political Agitator’s response: This is good!

The message of PEACE starts with: Civility … Courtesy … Tolerance.
This means that we try to allow others to voice opposing opinions without condemnation or judgement.
PEACE does not require us to agree with opinions that differ from our perspectives.
To be a person of PEACE requires great patience and understanding. It is hard work. Very few are capable of being good PEACE makers at all times.
In our world today where the range of opinions and political positions go from… one extreme to another, it is easy to let our emotions overpower the rule of being civil to each other.

And when only one side is trying to be civil, it often seems impossible to see why civility is worth the effort.
BUT … if more of us try to understand our individual importance in conveying a message of PEACE … a message of Civility … Courtesy … Tolerance … maybe we can play a role in making our community and our world a better place.
None of us can be PEACE keepers all the time BUT we can get better at keeping the PEACE if we try.

Tarboro NC: Sources Say: K & L Transportation Has Laid Off Half Of Their Workers

image

Photo: From The DCN Files during the Princeville Christmas Parade

Yesterday I received an inquiry about K & L Transportation Service in Tarboro NC. I was asked had I heard that K & L was having some issues with Medicaid and Medicare Fraud?

I contacted one of my sources and they shared with me what they knew.

This is sad. I was hoping and still hope this business is going to be very successful. I recognize and understand that some folk black and white do not want to see especially black folk do well. Some say that when it looks like a business is growing fast, that something just don’t look right. But my question was how long do it suppose to take for it to look like the owners are prospering.

I have been hearing some things and I have been concerned about how things were going to turn out.

I hope the issues with Medicare and Medicaid can be resolved and soon.

I Don’t Hold An Office, I Am Just What Some Would Call An Outspoken Black Man And You See What Ignant Racist White Folk Have To Say

Just think of all they are saying about a black man in power such as The Rocky Mount City Council, Rocky Mount Chief of Police and other local, statewide and on the national level if they call me everything except a child of God.

You see what tickles the hell out me is they call me a racist and I didn’t even mention race, all I said was “Build it!”

Now this response, oh I loved it because I was able to respond and educate, teach folk about how ignant some folk can be that may know them. I don’t know her and she don’t know me. But read it for yourself. Melanie Mager Do you even live in Rocky Mount or pay ANY city or county taxes within the NASH county city limits? That would be a NO!!! ALL of your comments on every forum does nothing but negate progress!!! You are a close minded, racist bigot that I have eloquently tried to refrain from addressing… But YOU are the problem, not the solution!!!! Do you NOT understand that the primary deaths in RM are YOUNG BLACK MALES that I as a White woman am fighting my rear end off too increase folks like YOU to recognize!!! Police force needs revamping!!! And are you so much of a moron to not recognize that these tax increases are going to hit the people struggling in this county even more???? Pushing them further into poverty??? The Political Agitator’s response: Ignaant you said, “Oh, and you didn’t address any of the issues that I pointed out… You turned it back into a RACE thing, as you always do. Because you are IGNORANT!!!!”

All I said in my 1st comment was “Build it!”

You responded, “Do you even live in Rocky Mount or pay ANY city or county taxes within the NASH county city limits? That would be a NO!!! You see this let me know when I am dealing with “IGNANT!” folk because it was you who called me a close minded, racist bigot, mentioned BLACK MALES, talked about the Police force and the Chief just happens to be BLACK. You say Rocky Mount is primarily African American oh went from Black to African American.

And then called me a freaking idiot! I love it because I recognize and understand who is the IDIOT and I don’t need anyone, I repeat anyone black, brown, white or other to say one word about your ignance because I gets it. But I ain’t mad with ya.

But again your privilege don’t make me respond how you think I should respond to you. I ain’t a scared black man.

Visit The Community Council and see what they are saying about The Rocky Mount City Council. ‘

What they don’t understand is I am a 53 year old grown intelligent black man who ain’t afraid to say what I mean and mean what I say!

They gonna learn the day!

Now Run & Tell That!
