Tarboro NC – Edgecombe County Public Schools Facing Huge Cuts Edgecombe County Board Of Commissioners Meets Monday June 30, 2014

Proposed cuts in the local appropriation by the Edgecombe County Board of Commissioners could result in the loss of the ECPS teacher supplement and upwards of 50 staffing positions in 2017.

ECPS has been recently notified that the commissioners’ proposed budget (which will be voted on Monday, June 30, 2014) includes a $260,000 decrease in local funding. ECPS has since submitted the proposed local decrease into its low wealth funding formula provided by the State Department of Public Instruction.

The purpose of low wealth funding is to provide supplemental funds in counties that do not have the ability to generate revenue to support public schools (per a legislated formula) at the state average level. The funding is to allow those counties to enhance the instructional program and student achievement.  ECPS received over 3.5 million dollars in low wealth funding this past school year.

Low wealth funding formulas are based on the local appropriation from the commissioners. The county cut ECPS’s local appropriation last year by $318,052. If the county cuts the local appropriation (again) from $6,666,857 to $6,406,854 (by $260,000), then ECPS would lose ALL low wealth funding in 2017-18. In other words, if the county cuts ECPS $260,003 this year, this would actually be cutting an additional 3.5 million dollars for the 2017-18 academic year. (ECPS has conferred with NCDPI several times to confirm the accuracy of the figures.)

Low wealth funding is currently allocated in the following categories including 50 employees:  Teacher supplements, Technology technicians (7), Central office clerical (10), School bookkeepers (13), Data managers (14), School clerical (5), 1.5 Guidance counselor, 1 Media Certified staff, Substitute teachers, and School allotments for supplies.

If the commissioners support the $260,000 in cuts, this would be devastating to our teachers, students and parents.

The meeting of the Board of Commissioners is Monday, June 30th at 7:00 p.m. at 201 St. Andrews Street in Tarboro.

Charter schools’ records should not be shielded – News & Observer

Republican state Reps. Charles Jeter of Huntersville and David Lewis of Dunn are still new to the business of having real power in the General Assembly. So it’s perhaps understandable why they’d support some legislative moves that are embarrassingly wrong.

The problem is, their party now is in power, and so mistakes can become law.

The latest bad idea coming from Jeter and Lewis, is preposterous, and represents nothing less than a slap in the face to the taxpayers of North Carolina.

Jeter’s clumsy idea is to block the public reporting of charter school salaries by name. He introduced the bill. Lewis defends it by saying allowing the release of the information creates a “hostile work environment.” (Source: Read more)

Tarboro NC – Edgecombe County Board Of Commissioners Special Call Meeting Monday June 29, 2014

Sources say the Edgecombe County Board of Commissioners will meet on Monday June 29, 2014 7:00 PM to vote on the budget. You better attend to see what is going on for yourself. I understand the Edgecombe County Public Schools will be hit hard with cuts possibly eliminating 50 employees some from all areas from the local schools to the Central Office.

As you know The Daily Southerner shut down recently so will you get a complete coverage from the Rocky Mount Telegram. However I do plan to attend and capture the meeting via video.

Here I Go Again, Help A Brother Out!

While most folks are moving on to Tablets well I can’t. I have to have laptops to be able to make DVD’s and to use the software Corel and Livestream to put my videos on The DCN TV. Because I can’t afford to pay for the Livestream Premium Services, I am limited to Livestream features. My videos are not accessible on mobile devices.

Last year I had to replace 2 camcorders and I purchased 1 new one but I was unable to dub copies to my portable DVD player whereby I can make DVD’s anywhere, in my car or where ever I have access to an outlet. Since George Fisher, the one responsible for setting up my most recent blog and The DCN TV, I gave him that camera because he can dub our work on the computer.

I went online and I was able to purchase 2 used camcorders just like the 2 that I had that are no longer working.

Now one of my 2 laptops is no longer working and it is time to replace it.

Friends, associates and enemies I am seeking donations to help with purchasing a new laptop and to help with other expenses such as purchasing of DVDs, ink for printer, SD Cards for taking photos on my photo camera, gas and etc. I video and take photos of meetings and all other events and etc. I believe that we must capture history via video and photo.

I don’t advertise videos because I am not in the business of videoing for money. I video because I love what I do capturing history and making it available to others on The DCN TV for free because some folks don’t have the time to attend meetings and etc.

Tomorrow June 8, 2014 I plan to try to cover more events in the Tarboro area since the Daily Southerner has shut down.

All donations can be mailed to Curmilus Dancy @ P.O. Box 1391 Pinetops, North Carolina 27864.

Thanking you in advance.

Wilson NC: Sheriff responds to campaign attack – Wilson NC

The Political Agitator Response: It is sad when candidates have to spend time dealing with ignant racist ass folk. It is evident that Gardner is campaigning on don’t vote for this black man. Thank you Sheriff Woodard for your setting the record straight.

Incumbent Sheriff Calvin Woodard said there’s a lot about politics he wishes weren’t true.

“I really wish candidates didn’t have to raise money to run for office,” Woodard said Friday afternoon. “I like meeting and talking with the people of Wilson County. But I think campaigns should be based on the candidate’s platform. Unfortunately, there is the raising money portion of this.”

Woodard doesn’t believe the person with the biggest war chest is automatically victorious.

Woodard, a Democrat, faces Republican Joey Gardner in the November election.

“I think people want to know your work record, your history,” Woodard said. “I think the people of Wilson County believe in this office and believe in me and know I am dedicated to getting the job done.” (Source: Read more)

I Have To Do What I Have To Do

Recently I posted asking for a donation for the work I do Dancy Communications Network and I have received only one in the amount of $25.00. I ain’t mad because actually I don’t like asking for donations anyway. But because I do so much work for free and making it available for others free that I don’t feel I am asking too much. But because of my sacrifices, I strongly feel the Lawd continues to make a way for me out of no way. If he don’t do anything but wake me up in the morning and start me on my way to be able to work and to do community service to those who appreciate the work I do and even those who are ungreatful. It does not matter.

I have 2 laptops, 2 video camcorders and I need 2 Photo cameras but only have one. I have 2 portable DVD Burners where I can make DVDs on the spot if I don’t have to go home and edit what I record.

Earlier this year I had to purchase 2 camcorders.

I received a new laptop this week that I have ordered off line.

I am going to continue to do what is in my heart so it does not matter if I receive any donations or not. I will continue to struggle and do the best I can but I ain’t going to quit.

Why We Vehemently Defend President Obama!

Hell yeah I agree! Hell even some others and myself have experienced some things because we are not afraid to speak truth to power. Some folks are not and never will accept intelligent black men knowing their place in this society. They can relate to the black man who shows himself ignant and other negatives but they better wake the hell up because all black men ain’t the same and some of us will not allow others to paint a picture of who they want us to be. We will not be a slave to no man because we know who we are and whose we are! And while they disrespect us and all the below, "STILL WE RISE!"

Lawd Ham Mercy I Feel Good!

And would I be sure? Fred G. Sandford

God is good!

Have been experiencing some things recently and although I don’t serve him as I should, God has been so good to me. I have no doubt that he will bring me out no matter what test I may be put through.

Nobody told me the road would be easy. But I don’t believe he brought me this for to leave me.

And then I also mix it up with a R & B song that I heard on the radio, “I Ain’t Worried Bout Nothing!”

I will let nothing and nobody turn me around because I come too far from where I started from.

Wilson NC: Gardner launches bid, lands attack – Wilson Times

The Political Agitator Response: Damn this article is so full of bull manure that it actually stinks from abroad. Damn these ignant racist ass white folks need to get the hell over Sheriff Calvin Woodard is an intelligent black man.

Joey Gardner kicked off his campaign for Wilson County sheriff Thursday evening at the Wilson County Fairgrounds.

Cutting into Wilson’s drug trade as well as the sheriff’s salary were top topics for Gardner.

Gardner, who wore a shirt that read "Gardner — Sheriff Wilson County,” greeted each person coming in and he had a house full by 6:30.

Gardner promised the crowd to cut his own salary if elected.

The Republican Gardner faces incumbent Democrat Calvin Woodard in November.

He said he understands Wilson County commissioners make the decision on how much the sheriff makes, but he won’t take that much of a salary. (Source: Read more)

Wilson NC: Wilson Was voter ID accepted early in Wilson? State investigates new complaint – Wilson Times

The Political Agitator Response: Good job Zette McArn and Bob James this is democracy at it’s best. We all must be engaged making sure the voting process is carried out properly leaving no voter behind.

The N.C. Board of Elections is investigating a complaint they received Tuesday alleging a precinct judge accepted voter IDs from residents in the November election.

Voter IDs laws don’t go into effect until 2016.

The complaint included a screen capture of a Facebook post reportedly from Bobby Pittman from November that stated, "Worked a predominately black precinct as a judge this past election in Wilson County. Many are already presenting their IDs with no negative recourse. Of course, I took their ID to vote.”

The precise intentions are not clear by what is written in the post and Pittman did not respond to requests to interview him.

Pittman was removed a day earlier as a precinct worker by the Wilson County Board of Elections due to an incident from the May primary not related to the voter ID complaint. In that complaint, Pittman presided as precinct chief judge as a Wilson registered voter wasn’t able to vote on his watch and then not given a provisional ballot. (Source: Wilson Times)

Rocky Mount NC – Crime, Parents Which Is Better? You Have Options

So parents if you know your children are committing crimes know that 2 things may happen. You may loose them to the following so which is better?

1. Your child may kill someone and you will lose them.

2. Your child may get killed and you will lose them.

So again which is better?

For me neither is better!

You have 2 options.

1. You can talk to law enforcement about your child.

2. You can talk to the funeral home about your child.

If you choose to talk to the funeral home, then that is your choice and you will have to live with it.

If you are a real parent and you love your children, you will do what is best for your children. If you choose to do nothing, then you are just as damn guilty as your children because you have failed them not the white man, not law enforcement, not the elected officials and damn sure not me.

This sums it up so therefore there is no need for anymore candlelight vigils and meetings for political pimps, religious pimps and whomever to host to say all of these pretty words that ain’t gonna do a damn thing but give the news media something extra to report. They are going to report crime whether it be your child committed a crime or your child was a victim of crime. Hell that is enough attention that should trigger all of those whom may know something to tell it.

Parents how many more children do you have to see in the news committing crime and/or getting killed for you to get the message?

Why do you have to wait for it to hit home for you to be a believer?

Parents I stopped by to tell you that hell yeah it is real you ain’t dreaming, so you better wake the hell up and save your children because it ain’t nothing I can do. However I know somebody that can do something and that is law enforcement and that is the option I beg you to choose.

Now I have done all I can do and that is give you some advice that you may not want to hear. But guess what in case you have forgot? You have options!

I am Curmilus Dancy II The Professional Political Agitator and I am damn good at it!

Note: For those who have been asking what I think about crime in Rocky Mount, so there you have it straight up and not sugar coated.
