Church Folk Is Gambling A Sin In The Bible?

Is it stated in the bible that gambling is a sin? Now don’t get it twisted just like there are scriptures such as thou shall not kill, steal, fornicate, commit adultery and etc. is it in the bible thou shall not gamble? I don’t want to hear your interpretations of scriptures and your opinion on whether you think it is or not, I want to know what the bible says.

Okay been talking about this for a little over a month now during our bible study. One deacon was to bring back some information to the next bible study and others were asked to research as well.

We discussed the issue of gambling during bible study on this past Wednesday night and we came to the conclusion that it is not stated in the bible thou shall not gamble. Now we all know that gambling can be a bad thing but so can eating among other things.

My point is that the church spend too much time trying to condemn folk saying it is biblical and they can not prove it by showing it in the bible. Condemning it per one belief and from experience is one thing but to say it is in the bible is another.

Why are churches always talking about gambling when there are things going on in the church that are clearly spelled out in the bible but you don’t want to touch that? Okay I know the church and Christians are not perfect but the goal is to work towards perfection. How can that be when you allow things to go on knowing it ain’t right and never address it because don’t want to hurt brother, sister, mother, deacon other titles and pastor feelings? Oh so you want them to die and go to hell living a sinful life when you know that you need to go to them and talk to them about what they are doing. Well many don’t want to go because they may have some baggage of their own. We all got something but when we hold each other accountable for our actions, we can move onward toward perfection.

Folk there is nothing to debate about is gambling a sin. It is no more than going out buying an expensive car, house, dinner and etc.

You ain’t winning souls by talking ignant about what is not is in the bible.

Funny to me how things happen on the local, state and national level that pertains to the quality of life for all people and the church is silent. Schools are a mess can’t get proper funding and they talking about the education lottery ain’t nothing. Well it helps and the main thing is it was not put in place to totally finance the schools but to be a supplement.

And these churches that I know of that condemn gambling I am going to see if they accept money from a member or non-member because if they do I am going to call them a HYPOCRITE.

Life is a gamble.

So church folk, let the church get it house in order before we try to get those living in sin house in order. We all have and continue to sin but you know what you suppose to do to get it right.

I ain’t no bible scholar and don’t profess to be. Just began to start back reading the bible lately. However I love sitting among folk talking about the bible because it helps you learn more about how folk view it. Just because you have heard that, done that and thought that all of these years don’t mean it was right. And when you recognize it was wrong, then do right. You see you can’t be held accountable when you didn’t know better, when you know better you suppose to do better.

Now if we have missed something as it related to the gambling being a sin in the bible, then please share it because we may have missed something. But I tell you it is some heavy hitters in my bible study so I am learning.

Some folk say religion and politics don’t go hand in hand. Well I am The Political Agitator and I am going to talk politics and religion.

Nash officials say figures back schools split – Rocky Mount Telegram

Nash County officials say information they’ve sent to state lawmakers backs their claims that Edgecombe County isn’t pulling its weight in funding Nash-Rocky Mount Public Schools.

“This is just another confirmation of what Nash commissioners have been saying all along,” said Nash County Commissioner Robbie Davis.

The information shows that around 37 percent of the students at Rocky Mount High School, which cost $38.4 million to build, are from Edgecombe County. Edgecombe County paid $3.3 million, or 8.7 percent, for its construction. Edgecombe was required to spend the money due to it being raised through bonds. Had Edgecombe County not held a referendum, it wouldn’t have had to pay anything for the school, according to the 1992 legislation that combined the Nash County and Rocky Mount school systems. Sources Say Mayor Priscilla Everette-Oates Business Padlocked Saturday

Dang! Sources say Mayor Priscilla Everette-Oates Business padlocked just a few days after her attorney saying he is going to file a $240 million lawsuit against the NC State Auditor, 2 Princeville Commissioners and others.

I did ride by the location and there is nothing in the main street property beside Piggly Wiggly and the old Big Jims.

Big sign out front about property open for lease.

Could share more about what sources say but so good want to keep it to myself.

Well wonder what will be the next chapter?

Rocky Mount NC – Yes, The Location Of The Downtown Community Facility Has Been Named

I am so glad The Downtown Community Facility location has been named. Now it appears that it will happen and the construction will maybe begin soon.

I commend all the council members except the one that voted against it for their support of the vision to make Rocky Mount a better place to live, work and play.

There are some folk who never have wanted and do not want to see Rocky Mount especially on the Edgecombe County side of town have anything. So it is too bad that when the center is up and rolling and bringing much money to the area, I guess the naysayers will be praying that it don’t last. Well I believe, (my opinion) that this is going to be a great thing for Rocky Mount and down east.

Read about it “Officials announce location for event center” what the Rocky Mount Telegram posted about the Rocky Mount City Council meeting on yesterday. I could not be there however I did speak to Bronson Williams and one council member.

I love it!

Former county commissioner, community activist Bishop Randy Royal dead at 63 – WITN 7

A former county commissioner and a community activist in Pitt County has died.

Bishop Randy Royal passed away Sunday from continued complications from a stroke he had in 2005. He was 63 years old.

The New Bern native became pastor of the Philippi Church of Christ, Disciples of Christ in 1982, and helped grow the church to more than 2500 members.

He served one term on the Pitt County Board of Commissioners, and was also on the Pitt County Memorial Hospital board as well as on the county health board. (Source: Read more)

Princeville Town Hall Meeting

The meeting went well however I could not understand why a couple of commissioners voted against having a Princeville’s Founders Day. It will not cost the town a dime. Yes I know the speed bump and some other issues are very important, I don’t get it when the solution is this need to be done first. Well why the commissioners can’t work on all of the things? A board of commissioners must be able to multi-task.

I understand the plea for speed bumps on Otis Avenue and was compared to where the mayor lives however Otis Avenue is a long stretch versus a cuddle sack. I believe the solution to dealing with the speed issue will be taken care of.

A former commissioner spoke during public comments and I think he just wanted to hear himself talk. He talked about the attorney not being there and he walked in. He talked about when will LGC turn the books back over to Princeville and that question was answered. He talked about filing a complaint against the town manager and talking about he had witnesses. What? Happened after the last month’s meeting and you come to this meeting talking you gonna file a complaint. Crazy! File the damn thang! Probably has no validity so therefore he has not filed it.

Overall a very good meeting carried out without much drama.

Well as I always say, look at the meeting for yourself and put your own spin on it.

Homegoing Celebration For Bishop Randy Royal Greenville NC

My condolences goes out to the entire family of the late Bishop Randy Royal Greenville NC.

I have been knowing my friend, my brother a hard fighting soldier since the late 80’s. I met him through Black Workers For Justice and then CAR. He loved people and stood up for those whom did not, would not or were afraid to stand up for themselves.

Princeville NC – When Will It End? Oh But It Ain’t Princeville, They Just Happen To Be From Princeville So Don’t Get It Twisted! $240 Million Dollars Lawsuit

Photo from my file: Attorney can’t remember her name, Attorney California-based attorney Charles Bonner, Priscilla Everette-Oates, Everette-Oates husband.

First of all let me get this out of the way. I was scared writing this because the attorney addressed me on the day that I took this photo and said he read my blog so hell I may be included in the suit too. SMDH!

This past week I find it quite interesting that the former mayor Priscilla Everette-Oates is in the news again whereby she and her husband along with her attorney are threatening to file a lawsuit against some folk. They say they are going to give those they are seeking to sue 60 days to come forward or they going to file the suit. Well hell I say file the damn suit and quit playing. I can’t believe anyone in their right mind would respond to the 60 day thingy because if so they would be too ignant but that is just my ignant opinion.

The lawsuit also claims loss of consortium on the behalf of Everette-Oates’ husband because during the prosecution Everette-Oates stopped cooking and cleaning their home and lost interest in companionship and sexual relations. Really?

So when will it end?

See the following in the Rocky Mount Telegram: Former Princeville mayor seeks $240 million in lawsuit – Rocky Mount Telegram and in the Edgecombe Tribune: Bonner files claims seeking $240M for Everette-Oates.

Social Media Oh How I Love How Folk Especially Church Folk Respond To Or Not Respond To Certain Stuff

Social media for me is a wonderful tool and free! It can be a way to educate and to be educated about what should matter to us the most real life issues. But how many folk really use it for such and only respond to stuff that they feel will not be controversial or better yet show who they really are?

I monitor what my Facebook Friends post those that I know on a personal note and those who I have only met online. Although I may not know all of my Facebook friends I try to monitor them to see what they are saying and/or not saying.

I look at what kind of post my friends post, what kind they share and etc. I especially monitor those whom I know on a personal note those whom say they are good folk and my fellow church folk because I need to know how they are thinking.

I told a couple of folk I am going to shift my blog from politics to religion. Well I am just going to make religion another piece of my blog so I will be doing both.

I posted the following post Is It In The Bible Or Is It What You Have Heard? Is It Your Opinion Or Is It Biblical? 9 hours ago and it is funny how few or if any responses especially from church folk. Well I guess everyone got to be in the Safe Mode because they don’t want to lose some real friends. Well obviously I don’t have any.

Social media can be a powerful tool and I am going to use it to educate and to be educated. Along my journey I know I am going to piss some folk off because they don’t like what I have to say but that is alright.

So from time to time I remind folk that if they don’t want to hear what I have to say, leave the room, turn the radio/tv station and delete me on Social Media.

My Take On: VIDEO: Raw interview with Sandra Bland’s co-inmate

After watching the VIDEO: Raw interview with Sandra Bland’s co-inmate this is what I get out out of it.

First of all when the video begin I thought it was about what did this lady hear on the day of the supposedly suicide but I was confused. She said I didn’t hear anything on that day but we were talking through a little hole and I couldn’t hardly understand her. She said Sandra was crying and got beat up, but kept reiterating she was crying but she couldn’t understand her. She gave the account of the arrest and the cigarette issue that was clearly seen in the video during the arrest.

Then the reporter asked did you talk to her on Monday morning and she said no. She said she realized something was going on when she woke up and seen the guards taking photos. She said she didn’t believe the guards did anything to her. She said Bland was not causing a ruckus so she don’t understand why the guards would do anything to her. She said Bland had bruises, cuts and stuff. Again she said but she was looking through a small hole and she really couldn’t see anything. What?

The reporter asked did Bland say she was beat up and she said yeah but . . . (hesitation) she showed me scratches and bruises.

When asked do she think she killed herself and she said she was positive that she killer herself but that was just her opinion. What? Makes no difference what she thinks she didn’t know Bland and obviously couldn’t see her that good since she kept stressing about the whole in the wall that suppose to be kept shut all the time. So why was it open?

She said Bland said she didn’t deserve to be in jail. She said she was from Chicago and she only knew one person and that she kept trying to reach him.

The reporter asked her did Bland seem suicidal and she said I don’t know she seemed distraught. What? Oh so now this damn inmate know who are suicidal or not? Get out of here.

She said she didn’t know what to think about it but she don’t think the guards did anything for sure.

She said she don’t think Bland should have been in the other tank by herself. So why was she? Damn that don’t sound good.

She said she and two more female were over there laughing and carrying on trying to make the most of it and Bland was over there hearing that and that would make anyone sad. Bingo! As I stated in an earlier post, even if she did commit suicide she was provoked by the traffic stop and then being placed in jail in a damn city that she only knew one person and she couldn’t even get in contact with the person to see why they had not come to get her out of jail a day later.

For me I am focused on what this lady had to say and for me she helped paint the real picture of who Bland was in the little time and what little she could see of her. She said Bland told her about the incident and that is what I seen in the video. She said Bland wouldn’t talk to her in the beginning but later apologized to her. She seen the bruises and cuts and the size of the hole she kept describing with her hands was well big enough to see her arm. The questions the reporter asked her about did she think that Bland was suicidal was too damn ignant? It is one think to say do you think that Bland was acting strange or something to that effect but to come out and ask do she think Bland was suicidal has no bearing on Bland dying in a jail cell.

Like I said earlier on my blog, Okay I Got That Do What The Police Say Do, But What About Why Do The Police Get The Right To Provoke Citizens? Let’s deal with the traffic stop first then let’s get to the jail. I said it in my post that this mess is enough to drive someone crazy and the lady in this interview who was in jail somewhere I have never been said the same thing.

About The Sandra Bland Incident With Police And Then Dying Three Days Later In The Jail – A Good Read!

Copied this from Facebook

Hatshepsutportia Avery Copied from a comment from @Latoya Moss because I tried to like her comment and couldn’t so I think it might have been deleted:
On July 10, 28-year-old Sandra Bland was arrested and charged with assaulting a public servant. She was taken to the Waller County Jail; three days later, she was found in her cell dead from what officials called suicide. Both the FBI and the Texas Rangers launched investigations trying to find out what happened.
Dashboard camera footage from Bland’s traffic stop was released on Tuesday. (Note: The video was uploaded to YouTube Tuesday evening; it has since been taken down, after people pointed out errors and inconsistencies in the video, which led many to believe it had been edited. A DPS spokesman denied editing the video, and said this morning they would re-upload the footage without errors or omissions.)
Questions, in the wake of the video: What are the rules? Not policies or politeness – specifically, what are your rights when you’re pulled over by police?
Jim Harrington, director of the Texas Civil Rights Project, speaks with Texas Standard about the footage of the arrest, point-by-point. Here’s a transcript of the conversation, edited for brevity and clarity:
The trooper asks, “You mind putting out your cigarette please?” And Ms. Bland says, “Well, I’m in my car – why do I have to put out my cigarette?” Does she have to put out her cigarette?
“No, she doesn’t have to put out her cigarette. And you wonder why the officer is even bothering with that. This is part of his escalation of the whole event that unfolded, unfortunately.”
The next part: “Step out of the car.” Ms. Bland says, “You do not have the right.” He interrupts – “I do have the right, step out of the car or I will remove you.” Does he have the right, first, to order her to step out of the car, and second, to actually physically remove her from the car?
“He does not have the right to say get out of the car. He has to express some reason. ‘I need to search your car,’ or, whatever; he needs to give a reason. He can’t just say ‘get out of the car’ for a traffic offense.”
It’s one thing to say he has a reason; it’s another to say he has to give a reason. He may have had probable cause, or thought he had it, we don’t know. Does he have to state it?
“He doesn’t have to state probable cause; he has to state some reason … And that’s part of the training that he should have had about how to de-escalate a situation. She’s clearly upset about what happened, particularly – as we know later on – that she moved over because he was tailing her. … He should be working on de-escalation. That’s the key. ”
Ms. Bland says, “I refuse to talk to you other than to identify myself.” Is she right or wrong?
“She’s right. Unfortunately, officers don’t like it when you know the law. In this case, even if you are right, you are still in danger. And that’s what we see unfolding here.”
The trooper says, “I am giving you a lawful order.” Now, is the is the lawful order to extinguish the cigarette, or to get out of the car, or neither?
“You can’t tell why. Certainly, telling her to put out the cig was not a lawful order. Just saying ‘Get out of the car,’ in and of itself, without an explanation, is not lawful. And you see him say that throughout the video without ever saying why [or] what’s going on here. It’s clear to me that he’s trying to assert authority that he probably does not have under the law, and he’s escalating the situation because he is upset. [He] doesn’t exercise the training that he needs to be exercising to de-escalate this situation.”
“I’m gonna yank you out of here,” is what the trooper says. Can he physically “yank” her out of her vehicle?
“He can’t do that either, unless she’s posing a threat to his welfare and safety. What he should have done was just wait for backup, if he couldn’t de-escalate it himself. But you don’t just pull somebody out of the car, and point that taser in her face. What if it had gone off? She’d have permanent brain damage.”
She says, “Dont touch me, I’m not under arrest.” Trooper says, “You are under arrest. She says, “Under arrest for what?” He then turns to his shoulder mounted radio, and asks for another unit. Does he have an obligation as a law enforcement officer to tell her why she is under arrest?
“Yes. He needs to – it’s not clear to her what’s going on. He needs to tell her, ‘You’re under arrest because …,’ but you can’t really tell her that. Because you can’t tell from the video that there’s any reason to have her under arrest.
She asserts her right to record this with her cell phone. That’s a right that has been clearly established. Is that true?
“She has a right to do that. But that’s another example where the officer perceives this as a challenge to his authority – and it further escalates the whole scenario.”
When he says “get out of the car, or I will light you up,” he is apparently referring to the use of a taser. Is that a legitimate threat? Is that something that’s okay for officers to do in that situation?
“No – here’s the situation where he is clearly violating her constitutional rights. This is excessive force on the part of the officer – to take that taser and point it in her face and say, ‘I’m going to harm you.’ Taser is the last recourse to a gun. And if he can’t get her out, he can’t de-escalate it, he’s got to wait for another officer to come and talk through this.”
Right now, the trooper has been placed on administrative duty. He’s not on leave, he’s still working for DPS. It’s our understanding that there is a violation of policy here – he should not have allowed it to escalate.
We are talking about a certain level of discretion that the state apparently entrusts with its troopers. Should officers have that much discretion?
“He clearly exceeded that. … The discretion here is, how do you de-escalate the situation? He could have just given her the ticket and walked away. Just like that. But he had to go through this confrontation. Of course, there are questions of race that come up here. And the fact that this is an out-of-state car moving through the town – and we know in Texas that’s a pretty typical profiling event. What bothers me a lot is that troopers are supposed to be the best-trained police officers we have in the state. This guy is clearly out of control – clearly shouldn’t be out on the streets dealing with people – [given] this level of escalation that he provokes.” pass this on, share it, screenshot it, tell everyone.

Is It In The Bible Or Is It What You Have Heard? Is It Your Opinion Or Is It Biblical?

Okay I am far from being a bible scholar and far from being perfect. I have some issues and one is using choice words like damn and hell. However I do it because some folk don’t get it unless I do. I have some other issues I am working on as well. I am a work in progress. But trust me if and when I am to take on a title, I am going to change some some things in my life because I will attempt to live by example. I am talking about things that I have control over so don’t get it twisted.

Some folk just get all ignant when it comes to talking about sins.

Just a little ignant moment for now. Just because I don’t see a man and woman in the bed don’t mean they ain’t having a sexual relationship, but if I see you having an outward relationship which appears you are going together and one or both of you have a wife and/or a husband, hell that is enough right there. A sin is a sin. Oh no, according to who telling the story. But don’t matter to me because  what the bible say?

Because I talk about something and you say don’t judge others, well why does it have to be judging and can’t simply be holding one accountable? Well if I say something, call it judging or whatever. What does the bible say?

Now over the years and now moreso than ever church folk are saying that it is a sin to gamble, to drink and other stuff. In our bible study, lawd Jesus been some kinda good over the past couple of months that I have been attending because I refuse to sit there and not say anything. I can get real ignant!

I don’t care how long you been in the church, that you are a Pastor, Mother, Deacon and other positions you may hold, if you gonna tell me that it is biblical then show it to me in the bible or else it is your opinion.

Recently we have been discussing The Church Covenant and different churches in the Bible. However there has been some good discussion coming from the more in depth real time discussion on this and other matters that someone may have a question about.

I get so sick of folks trying to prove a point but don’t offer any substance with it. If you say it is biblical, show me.

We hear a lot about certain things that are called sins especially gay marriage, drinking and the lottery so is it biblical or is it just because some folk want to say it is a sin?

I ask you, is it a sin for a man to marry a man, a woman to marry a woman, to drink and to play the lottery? Show it to me in the bible!

Don’t Ask Me About Anything If You Don’t Want My Honest Opinion

Be it about police stops, black on black crime, white on black crime or anything don’t ask me if you don’t want to hear my honest opinion. Also leave the room when I am about to speak, don’t read my blog, follow me on social media and turn the radio and tv off when I am about the speak if you don’t want to hear it. I am going to say it and don’t care whether you like it or not. I try to respond with truth, my opinion based on the facts as presented to me at the time and if I have to make necessary corrections if I should error on the facts, then I am man enough to do it.

“Ah yes, truth. Funny how everyone is always asking for it but when they get it they don’t believe it because it’s not the truth they want to hear.”: Helena Cassadine

Truth resides in every human heart, and one has to search for it there, and to be guided by truth as one sees it. But no one has a right to coerce others to act according to his own view of truth: Mahatma Mohandas K. Gandhi
Without seeking, truth cannot be known at all. It can neither be declared from pulpits, nor set down in articles, nor in any wise prepared and sold in packages ready for use. Truth must be ground for every man by itself out of it such, with such help as he can get, indeed, but not without stern labor of his own: John Ruskin

The truth that makes men free is for the most part the truth which men prefer not to hear: Herbert Sebastien Agar

“When I tell the truth, it is not for the sake of convincing those who do not know it, but for the sake of defending those that do.” William Blake

We are apt to shut our eyes against a painful truth… For my part, I am willing to know the whole truth; to know the worst; and to provide for it: Patrick Henry
