Press Release: Update On Dog Mauling Incident

All,

There have been numerous requests for confirmation that the victim of the dog mauling from last week, Triniti Harrell, has passed away. I feel confidant at this time that the information is correct and that she has passed away as a result of her wounds from this incident. There are still no charges expected in this tragic accident. We ask for continued prayers for her family and the first responders who were involved. We would also ask for restraint and respect for her family in this trying time, in terms of coverage. Please keep a distance from their family home and any funeral proceedings unless they invite you in.

Thank you all for your concern.

I don’t anticipate any further comment on this matter from our office.

Seeking $2000.00 Donation Goal

I am seeking $2000.00 in donations to carry on The DCN News Blog Online TV. Because I have not worked overtime on my job for months now I have almost used up all of my resources. I hate asking for donations but I have just used so much of my resources over the years that I can’t continue because at the moment at I am at an all time low.

I have experienced so much over the past 2 years with upgrading equipment and dealing with my dad being flooded out of his home twice within a year and we had to deal with that out of pocket because the house is in my name and because it is not my residence couldn’t get any assistance.

I want to think I have touched many folk directly and indirectly by being a service to you. I know I have volunteered and covered many church events, funerals and other over the years because I have 100’s of videos in my office to account for such.

The following is posted on my blog as the leading post and has been there since October 29, 2017.

I do what I do out of pocket attending meetings videoing and taking photos making them public for folk who do not attend for whatever reason. It takes funds to do what I do.

I video a variety of things from meetings, banquets, sporting events, funerals and other. I post my videos on YouTube where you can access them at anytime that is convenient for you.

I also take photos and post them on my Facebook page and make them available for others to see. If someone do not have a Facebook page they can still view the photos.

It takes funds to to travel places and then it takes funds for equipment.

You have 3 options that you can send donations, Cash App, PayPal or send via USPS.

I have a Cash App that you can send money from your phone.

Also you can send donations to: Curmilus Dancy II P.O. Box 1391 Pinetops, NC 27864.

Thanking you in advance.

Sheriff pumps up school weight room – Rocky Mount Telegram

atkinson_clee.jpgA local law enforcement agency stepped up to help an area high school in serious need of upgraded athletic equipment.

The Edgecombe County Sheriff’s Office donated several pieces of weight room and fitness equipment to SouthWest Edgecombe High School. Sheriff Clee Atkinson said the school received about 12 to 15 pieces of used equipment that is still in great shape. Atkinson was able to gather the equipment from people he has built relationships with from across North Carolina.

Dr. Valerie Bridges, superintendent of Edgecombe County Public Schools, said the Sheriff’s Office is one of the school district’s most important partners.

“We’re extremely grateful for the donation of fitness equipment for SouthWest High School,” Bridges said. “This will give our students access to state-of-the-art equipment in the weight room. Sheriff Atkinson and his department have been instrumental in our school receiving this amazing gift.”

SouthWest Edgecombe football coach Jonathan Cobb said the last time any new or updated equipment was purchased for the school’s weight room was 31 years ago in memory of a former SouthWest player. (Read more)

Early Voting

No Early Voting Today Saturday October 27, 2018.t It looks like it is open today by reading this on the Board of Elections page so to me this is misleading. I just contacted the board and confirmed they are not opened today because they can only be open a certain amount of hours. I knew that because I used to attend the meetings regularly. But this is crazy and always have been because today may been the only day that some folk could early vote due to their work schedule or other.

Early voting is from Wednesday, October 17th through Saturday, November 3rd. Monday – Friday 7 am – 7 pm, and Sat. Nov. 3rd 8 am – 1 pm.

There are three early voting locations:

Edgecombe County Administration Building – Auditorium
201 St. Andrew St. – Tarboro, NC 27886

Department of Social Service
301 S. Fairview Rd. – Rocky Mount, NC 27801

Pinetops Library
201 E. Hamlet St. – Pinetops, NC 27864

Judge orders Georgia officials to stop rejecting absentee ballots without letting voters fix them first – News

U.S. District Judge Leigh May ordered the secretary of state’s office to instruct county election officials to stop the practice for the November midterm elections. She outlined a procedure to allow voters to resolve alleged signature discrepancies.

Secretary of State Brian Kemp, a Republican who oversees elections in the state, and Democrat Stacey Abrams sparred over voting rights and allegations of suppression in their first debate on Tuesday night. The race is neck and neck, polls show.

Kemp accused Abrams of encouraging undocumented immigrants to vote illegally, while Abrams charged her rival with mass purging voters, many of whom are African-Americans.

May’s order comes in response to two lawsuits filed earlier this month allege that election officials are improperly rejecting absentee ballots. The lawsuits said the rejections without first letting voters challenge the determination violated voters’ constitutional rights. (Read more)

The Gate Keeper response: And you have some folk talking about black folk don’t want to work and just lazy. Can’t put all black folk in that category. Thank Sgt. Bass for reaching out to her and then also to Steve Harvey Show and Capital Ford.

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C., Oct. 26, 2018 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Steve Harvey’s “STEVE” and Capital Ford of Rocky Mount give the surprise of a lifetime to local Rocky Mount woman, Jaylesya Corbett. Capital Ford of Rocky Mount teamed up with Steve Harvey’s hit syndicated daytime show, “STEVE” to donate a New 2019 Ford Fiesta to help Corbett get to work easier.

Corbett’s story received national attention after Nash County Sheriff’s Officer, Scott Bass, noticed Corbett walking alone while he was on patrol.

“One morning, at this intersection, I saw a young female walking and it was really, really cold. It was wet, so I could see she had bags on her shoes to keep them dry. I could also see by her dress that she worked for Bojangles,” said Sgt. Bass. (Read more)
