People are busting into town hall meetings, hanging lynched pictures of congressman and attacking folks over political difference. Some are using the political points as a cloak to hide their real motives. Propoganda and fearmongering among republican politions and radio host can be heard  instingating civil war and violent protest by any means necessary. All across the US of A, so called Right Wing Conservatives groups are looking for an excuse to interupting town hall meetins to protest from everything from health care reform to whether the President is really American. Political violence has taken place in the streets because Rush Limbaugh and others incite the belief that the man (aka government) is going to take us down and put us in camps. Alot of the talk sounds like Greek Mytholigy.  Not much other than sagging pants with these  conservative gansters than the traditionally gangsta. Violence or threat of it is the same.  Once we gave the black panthers a bad rap for standing up for thier political views and giving dissent and now the same sentiment is now being echoed by Right Wingers who threaten to stop the government by any means necessary and bust a cap in anybody who gets in their way.  Seems like the GOP are creating a down home Alkida from the heart of the Mississipi to stomping ground of LA.  Even the police is jumping on the bandwagon busting heads of poor little old ladies walking with a butter knife, alzhiemer and cane. Tarboro NC – Edgecombe County Public Schools Board of Education Meets

The meeting was called to order. The meeting was around 30 minutes late because some board members were in hearings with some parents before the meeting.

During (3) Public Comments yours truly addressed the board with my concerns about the publicizing of the meeting agenda. I addressed myself as a parent and I asked if the agenda could be e-mailed, if I mailed through the Post Office I would be willing to pay. I said I did not see anything in the local newspapers nor on the website. I said I like to be prepared when I attend the meeting and like to have my concerns in writing. I find it funny as hell that noone responded to this simple matter. But they say they want parental and community involvement. So do they really?

Viola Harris an Edgecombe County Commissioner addressed the board and she said she was not a commissioner tonight but just a citizen. She said she was not a parent and was speaking for others. How can that be? As long as she is a commissioner she can not step out of that role. It was funny as hell that Ann Kent would have a question of clarity to what Harris was asking but was silent on my concern. Oh well.

After Harris spoke she gave me a flashback to when Attorney Teresa Bryant ECPS board member made addressed a group of people at a Voices of Many meeting last month.

The agenda was short however (6) Items for Information took up the most time. These items were (6.1) Phillips Middle School Teacher Incentive Program – Barbara Hardison, Director (6.2) High School 1:1 Laptop Program – Barbara Hardison, Director and (6.3)  Edgecombe County Public Schools’ Data Review – Janet Morris, Director. They were all very interesting and something that the community need to hear. But how will they learn about these things since the board meetings are not recorded and shown on the local tv nor is the minutes updated on the Edgecombe County Public Schools Website.

After going in to closed session to handle board business there were several folks waiting to meet with the board in closed session.

I normally stay until the board comes out of closed session however this makes the 2nd meeting that I had to leave.

Rocky Mount NC – Health care forum seeks to dispel rumors

U.S. Rep. G.K. Butterfield is holding a town hall meeting Tuesday evening in Rocky Mount for some of the same reasons dozens of other Democratic lawmakers have opted against holding public forums during the congressional recess.

“Never before has there been this sort of cry for people’s opinions to be heard,” Butterfield press secretary Ken Willis said. “And the congressman just feels like there is so much disinformation out there, he wants to address the voters directly.” (The Rocky Mount Telegram)

So it Begins — the August Attack on Health Care Reform

This week I received a mass email that exhorted the recipients to pray for our country because of the disaster surely to befall on us if health care reform is passed. It is very important for all of us to understand what health reform is about because being able to respond to these distortions is important. So I went through every charge and answered it and sent it back to the huge email list to which it had been distributed. I wish I had seen the excellent rebuttal done by Politifact before I spent all this time, but it’s encouraging to know we have multiple ways to toss this stuff back. (The Huffington Post)
