Rocky Mount NC – City Earns Financial Excellence Recognition While The Racist White Folk Continue To Attempt To Discredit Them

Rocky Mount, N.C. – City Manager Rochelle Small-Toney is pleased to announce that for the 26^th consecutive year, the city of Rocky Mount has received a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for fiscal year ending June 30, 2019 from the Government Finance Officers Association.

Founded in 1906, The Government Finance Officers Association represents more than 20,000 public finance officials in the United States and Canada. The CAFR award was established to encourage and assist state and local government to perform beyond the minimum requirements of accounting principles and prepare transparent, comprehensive annual financial reports.

The Certificate of Achievement, reported a year out from the end of the previous fiscal year, is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting. The attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.

Hotel project hopefully will continue – Rocky Mount Telegram

It is no secret that some whites do not want to see a hotel in downtown Rocky Mount.

Actually, these same white folk have been fighting for no real projects on the Edgecombe County side of Rocky Mount.

For me, I am excited about a hotel coming downtown simply because there used to be at least two downtown but they both were just across the tracks. Some folk don’t think about the Carleton House that it was a restaurant and hotel because folk only think about going there eating.

It was beginning to look hopeful that a hotel was coming. But another problem was that a Black developer, David Hunt of Jackson Tenn., was ready to make it happen. However, recently Hunt and some others have been in the news because of an alleged bid-rigging scheme in Mississippi so the city has temporarily put the project on hold.

it makes no sense for the white haters to think that the city manager and the council members would be negotiating with Hunt if they knew he was in an alleged bid-rigging scheme. The city council has been under scrutiny for years so why would they do something that would be traceable?

When will the white haters stop bullying the council and promoting division within the city when no council members have been found guilty of anything they have alleged they have done so far? Now, since Hunt has been in the news, they want to say that the city is guilty because of what has happened in Jackson, Miss.

So what does Jackson, Miss., bid-rigging got to do with Rocky Mount? Why these haters can’t just wait until Hunt goes to trial and then see how the things move forward versus trying to add to the saga? Let the system work itself out. The bullying need to stop.

The white haters say they are about unity but every meeting and everyday they are posting mess on Rocky Mount Concerned Citizens and other times on Randy Adcox page, Fighting Crime, WHIG-TV and other pages with ongoing negative mess without any real substance.

The hotel project downtown Rocky Mount is on hold. If the negotiations with Hunt do not work out because of the bid-rigging scheme, hopefully the city can find another developer.
