Rocky Mount, N.C. – City Manager Rochelle Small-Toney is pleased to announce that for the 26th consecutive year, the city of Rocky Mount has received a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for fiscal year ending June 30, 2019 from the Government Finance Officers Association.
Founded in 1906, The Government Finance Officers Association represents more than 20,000 public finance officials in the United States and Canada. The CAFR award was established to encourage and assist state and local government to perform beyond the minimum requirements of accounting principles and prepare transparent, comprehensive annual financial reports.
The Certificate of Achievement, reported a year out from the end of the previous fiscal year, is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting. The attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.
“On behalf of the city’s citizens and many stakeholders, I’d like to congratulate Finance Director Amy Staton and her staff for ensuring our city’s financial reporting excels within industry standards.” Small-Toney said. “Our Finance Department continues to prove themselves among the top professionals in their field.”
