What the hell? – From Buchanan to Obama

First of all thank you for sharing this with me.

I don’t recall ever sending out so much mess about my previous Presidents whether I voted for them or not. It is by coincidence they have all been white although some have spoken for me saying former President Bill Clinton was the first black President. Well Barack Obama is my first  however I recognize and understand that he is bi-racial or whatever but hell I didn’t create the rule that if there are any black in you, you are considered black. My daddy’s moma’s daddy was a white man and so that makes me bi-racial also.

I get so damn sick and tired of folks trying to speak for me because I do not fit the category that Buchanan speaks of. See the rest of my response below in red also.

A Good Credit Score is 700 or Above. See yours in just 2 easy steps!

I am ready to have the conversation and I will start here.

First, America has been the best country on earth for black folks. It was
here that 600,000 black people, brought from Africa in slave ships, grew
into a community of 40 million, were introduced to Christian salvation, and
reached the greatest levels of freedom and prosperity blacks have ever
known. Wright ought to go down on his knees and thank God he is an American.
Affirmative action would not exist if there was not a problem.
Churches, foundations, civic groups, schools and individuals all over
America have donated their time and money to support soup kitchens, adult
education, day care, retirement and nursing homes for blacks.
And that is great and they should, what is the problem. So are you saying that only blacks benefit from these resources?
We hear the grievances. Where is the gratitude???

Really? Obviously you are living in a box.

Barack talks about new ‘ladders of opportunity’ for blacks. Let him go to
Altoona ? And Johnstown , and ask the white kids in Catholic schools how
many were visited lately by Ivy Leaguerecruiters handing out scholarships
for ‘deserving’ white kids.?

What? So just like President Barack Obama has his opinions, I see you have some as well. So again attempting to speak for black folks. I am quite sure my President is familiar with people from all walks of life especially since he has been a community activist.

Is white America really responsible for the
fact that the crime and incarceration rates for African-Americans are seven
times those of white America?

Root cause? I wonder why?

Is it really white America ‘s fault that
illegitimacy in the African-American community has hit 70 percent and the
black dropout ratefrom high schools in some cities has reached 50 percent?

Root cause? Did we have this problem be during segration?
Is that the fault of white America or, first and foremost, a failure of the
black community itself?

Root cause? I wonder why?

As for racism, its ugliest manifestation is in interracial crime, and
especially interracial crimes of violence.. Is Barack Obamaaware that while
white criminals choose black victims 3 percent of the time, black criminals
choose white victims 45 percent of the time?

Don’t know if he does, however I would think that he is familiar with crime as it relates to black and white.

Is Barack aware that black-on-white rapes are 100 times more common than
the reverse, that black-on-white robberies were 139 times as common in the
first three years of this decade as the reverse?

We have all heard ad nauseam from the Rev. Al about Tawana Brawley, the
Duke rape case and Jena . And all turned out to be hoaxes. But about the
epidemic of black assaults on whites that are real, we hear nothing.

Yep, I agree that Rev. Al Sharpton messed up with the Brawley case however I think he learned from that lesson with her. I was not a Rev. Sharpton’s fan for many years however since I have listened to him over the years and seen him in person, I appreciate him on that I agree with and that I do not, I will make it known that I do not. I do not agree with black folks simply just because they are black. I voted for my President Barack Obama because he is an intelligent black man.
Sorry, Barack, some of us have heard it all before, about 40 years and 40
trillion tax dollars ago.
We are a Christian Nation even if Mr. Obama says we are not.
This needs to be passed around because, this is a message everyone needs to
hear!!!

Hartford Connecticut – Principal’s tough love, high expectations gets kids into college

Now this is what I am talking about. I seen Principal Perry on Black America 2 on last night and I heard him on Rev. Al Sharpton’s National Action Network on this morning (Sunday July 26, 2009). Rev. Al is going to invite him back to do a longer show.

Principal Perry stated this morning on NAN that the system must stop putting the problems on the parents. He said we have bad teachers and bad principals who are holding our children back. Damn I love it. You see when I say it in Edgecombe County our safe Negroes say I am crazy. C. Dancy II – DCN Publisher

Principal’s tough love

Principal Steve Perry doesn’t believe in cursory inspections. For him, every single detail matters. T’s are always crossed, I’s are always dotted. Shirts are always buttoned and tucked in.

During his daily morning hallway inspections, he reprimands a student not wearing the Capital Prep school approved sweatshirt with a "That’s not our gray." He then quickly peers into another classroom to witness a student acting up. "Don’t do it! Don’t do it! Don’t do it!" he warns sternly. The student retorts "Why not?" Perry knowingly looks at him and simply says, "You’re the upperclassman" and with that, the student sheepishly walks away. (CNN)

Nationwide – $10,000 Scholarships For Minority Students

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
July 24, 2009

MONTHLY $10,000 SCHOLARSHIPS FOR MINORITY AND FEMALE STUDENTS

— Awards To Be Given Away July, August and September 2009 —

Nationwide – DiversityScholarships.com is giving away a $10,000 scholarship every single month to a high school or college student who is 18 years of age or older. The scholarship award can be used to pay for tuition, books, housing, and more. To apply, students simply have to register online, view free information from sponsor colleges and universities, and then confirm their registration.

Applicants must have at least one parent that is an African American, Hispanic American, Asian American, or Native American. Female students of all ethnicities are also eligible. In addition, applicants must be permanent residents of the United States, and must be planning to attend or are already enrolled in a college, university, or trade school.

At the end of the month, one random winner is selected from a drawing and the scholarship monies are paid in one lump sum directly to the winner upon verification. Typically, the drawing date is around the 30th or the 31st of the month.

The organization behind the web site that provides the scholarship funds is on a mission to help as many minority and female students as possible by offsetting their disadvantaged situation. A recent USA Today article revealed that minority enrollment in college lags disproportionately because of the lack of resources and financial aid being made available.

Tarboro NC – THE STRUGGLE FOR EQUALITY

I live in Ward Six, but once elected, every councilman’s vote affects all citizens. Think: December 2005.

Referring to the headlined article of the Daily Southerner of Friday July 3rd, 2009, on comments by the Mayor Donald Morris of Tarboro NC. Mayor Donald Morris can realize all his dreams without being mayor. The 250th anniversary and recruiting a couple of companies. His public life and that of Sam Noble’s “job” runs concurrent with the decline and fall of Tarboro and Edgecombe County. The height of local government intimidation and retaliation against it’s citizens has been running concurrent with the terms of Mayor Morris and Sam Noble.

How about that van deal involving the mayor, Sam Noble and David Smoot? Not to mention Sam’s Parks and Recreation Dept.. It was six months before the mayor “confessed” that he knew about it all along.

And remember the botched Town of Tarboro Web Site promotion deal? How much did it finally cost the town and how was it paid for?

And the ease with which the mayor said, “whatever the county does, Tarboro will match it”, when throwing $10,000.00 at a brick wall mural. I never did see the artist`s rendition in the paper before work started.

How about Mayor Morris saying in the paper, “The first time I knew about it was when I saw it being installed.” You know. The mess at Main and Saint John Streets with the traffic pattern change.

Ah citizens, just look at how sweet everyone in town government has been recently, toward the beleaguered citizens of East Tarboro. They even cut down a tree. And Sam was seen in East Tarboro. It made the front page. All while our youth are slowly dying in the streets.

Rick Page was probably a good electric utility director, but I must confess, I thought Sam Noble was getting paid for that job also. I didn’t even know there was a Rick Page in the town`s employ. Only when Sam said he wanted the new utility director to serve as water plant director also, did I realize Sam was not the electric utility director. Then it dawned on me that we had a electric utility superintendent, a director AND a town manager in charge of electricity! How efficient. I`m sorry Rick Page, but what twenty years experience? Not another Electricities employee in the making?

The only councilmen ever heard from or about, who are doing anything are the two African-Americans. Only two others I can recall are Al Hull and Steve Hoard, and that’s because they are very interested in real estate deals. Town Council is a good place to be for that business. Probably, Walgreen was turned down because they wouldn’t buy certain land, not because of safety concerns for high school students. That was the cover story. If concerns about the traffic was the reason, council should have voted to close down the mall long ago.

When you have two, and at times three councilmen absent at any one time, it’s time for a huge change come election time. I could not name all eight councilmen from memory. And I’ve had almost two years practice. Is it true that an absence is a “yes” vote?

So citizens, we once again have our work cut out for us, come November 3rd 2009. Lets complete the makeover.

Princeville NC – Local Government Commission rep coming to Princeville

I question if the Princeville Town Commissioners can remove Knight since he has not been to court. I can’t wait to see how Holloman will respond to the Red Flag Committee after his visit to Princeville. C. Dancy II – DCN Publisher

Vance Holloman of the state Local Government Commission will attend the Princeville monthly town meeting Monday night and speak. Eleven members of a group calling itself the Red Flag Committee met with Holloman, the deputy state treasurer, in Raleigh on Thursday.

"We informed him of our concerns," said Priscilla Everette-Oates, the committee’s leader. (The Daily Southerner)

Princeville NC – Princeville has been playing catch-up

It is sad there are 5 candidates seeking to become mayor of Princeville. I don’t understand why 4 of them are running. I really do not understand why the former mayor Priscilla Everette-Oates wants to run again. At some point in time one should say enough is enough and if they want to be political, run for another seat other than the one previously held.

It appears that the business part of the town board is pretty much doing fine but it is clear there are some people issues. When will the drama end? Do some think that challenging all the officials whose seats are up will be the key? Oh well, I don’t think so.

I feel that with the current mayor Delia Perkins who defeated Everette-Oats 4 years ago need atleast 4 more years to get things in completely in order. C. Dancy II – DCN Publisher

Playing catch-up

“We cut them off,” Knight said, “and take them to (small claims) court.”

The town’s anemic 72 percent property tax collection rate also was flagged. Earlier this year, the Edgecombe County Board of Commissioners hired Princeville Town Attorney Anthony Flanagan of Raleigh to begin tracking down delinquent taxpayers. (The Daily Southerner)

Dear Senator,
I am writing to urge you to vote to concur with the House version of the Racial Justice Act (S461). This historic legislation helps ensure fairness in capital sentencing. Statewide statistics are a crucial portion of this bill and will allow Courts to utilize all available information and make appropriate decisions on whether racial bias was involved in a particular case. Complete and fair determination of these cases is needed to give us confidence in our system, especially where the highest punishment is imposed. Please vote "yes" to concur on NC Racial Justice Act (S461). Thank you for supporting this important reform effort. Best Regards,
We will add your signature from the information you provide.

The NC Racial Justice Act is a fair sentencing reform that seeks to address racial disparities in capital sentencing.

The bill would allow defendants to present statistical evidence to determine if race played a significant role in a his/her death sentence or trial.

If a defendant is successful under RJA,  his/her sentence of death would be replaced with a sentence of Life in Prison Without Parole.

Raleigh NC – Letter to editor: Appropriations did not pass Allen’s amendment pertaining to Annexation

Rep. Lucy Allen gave an argument recently -to punish all towns because of the few  that have been obviously abusive with annexation is like making the whole class stay in for recess because of a few misbehaving towns-. This was one argument she used in representing an amendment attempt to remove the vote portion of the annexation reform bill HB524, in House Appropriations, which could be heard by audio via the N.C. Legislature website.   Appropriations did not pass Allen’s amendment.

Had I traveled nine hours roundtrip for that morning meeting and gotten to speak, I could have said, "with large cities perhaps, property owners outside city limits may gain from city infrastructure but punishing all for these exceptions is the same thing.  Is there justification to promote growth above Democracy?  North Carolina had democracy before the 1959 Involuntary Annexation Statutes.  The intent was to provide services in deplorable areas and not to give cities takeover rights of private properties governed by other jurisdictions, to support budget deficits.  The majority of annexations are voluntary and promote growth without compromising democracy.  Further, Greenville is South Carolina’s best economic engine without forcing annexation services on others that cannot vote there.
