Love Volunteering Capturing The Children At My Alma Mater SouthWest Edgecombe

I just love videoing at my alma mater, ball games but I be mad when their grades ain’t right, Hall of Fame, Athletic Banquet, Senior Awards Ceremony, Baccalaureate and Graduation. If these children parents don’t be there to support them, well I am there capturing them via video and photo. I was so happy to see all of these children that received these academic awards and fitting ready to go off to college.

For those whom will not attend college or go on to further your education I hope you will stay productive citizens and do well.

It is my desire and goal to one day have a scholarship fund from The DCN News Blog Online TV.

Pinetops NC: SWE’s Hyman nabs honor Cougars’ RB EPC Offensive POY; Mobley is top kicker – Wilson Times

It was a banner second year for the SouthWest Edgecombe football team under the guidance head coach Jonathan Cobb in 2014.

The Cougars marched to a 10-4 record, a second-place finish in the Eastern Plains Conference and an appearance in the third round of the North Carolina High School Athletic Association’s 2-A state playoffs.

Leading the way for SWE was fullback Devontrell Hyman, and the senior was recently voted the Offensive Player of the Year for the EPC by the league’s head coaches.

“He was a one-man wrecking ball,” Cobb said. “I mean, we had a pretty good offensive line, and a pretty good stable of other backs. But what set him apart was just knowing he could take it all the way every time. And he could do that even when schematically everything wasn’t right. (Source: Read more)

Edgecombe County: Prep Football Storylines: Playoffs Week 3 – Rocky Mount Telegram

The Political Agitator response: SouthWest & Tarboro we can do this. Let’s bring the “W” back to Edgecombe County.

SOUTHWEST EDGECOMBE (10-3) AT ELIZABETH CITY NORTHEASTERN (13-0)

PREGAME CHATTER: The Cougars have made the third round of the NCHSAA state playoffs three times in the past decade, but have failed to advance to a regional final each time. Jonathan Cobb and his players hope that changes tonight.  The Cougars have a healthy Marcus Williams in the backfield, which should give Devontrell Hyman a breather when it’s needed. Two of the team’s three losses this season came on the road, but they were by a combined 12 points.

NORTHEASTERN AT A GLANCE: He might not have any college scholarship offers, but Northeastern’s Ge’Dari Liverman is the best player in the upper east corner of the state. He has accounted for 3,111 yards of total offense this season and is the reason the Eagles are undefeated. The program has rolled through opponents this season and is averaging 45.2 points per game. The defense has also been credited with four shutouts.

KEY TO A WIN: The Cougars haven’t faced an offense like Northeastern’s in a while, so the goal will be to weather the initial storm and then contain Liverman. He’ll lineup at a variety of positions including quarterback, so SouthWest Edgecombe will need to know where he is on the field at all times.

TARBORO (10-3) AT WARSAW JAMES KENAN (11-1)

PREGAME CHATTER: Six weeks ago, it didn’t look like the Vikings would be in this position, but they are. Tarboro is playing its best football of the season on both sides of the ball, and it’s the seniors who are making an impact. Deshan Farmer (944 yards) has a chance to eclipse the 1,000 yard mark for the season tonight, while quarterback Malcolm Speller can continue to piece together a second-half of the season to remember. Tarboro hasn’t lost a road playoffs game since 2007 and is 35-8 in true road games since then.

JAMES KENAN AT A GLANCE: The Tigers are the defending 1-AA state champions, and have lost just two games since 2011. They are led by quarterback Ken Avent Jr., who is the son of head coach Ken Avent. The sophomore has thrown for 1,504 yards this season, with 25 touchdowns and just four interceptions to his name. There is also a staple of running backs led by JaQuan Williams (781 yards rushing, 17 touchdowns) making this a true dual-threat offense.

KEY TO A WIN: Eliminate the pass. Vikings coach Jeff Craddock knows that the Tigers can run the ball and pass, but he feels that the Vikings’ rush defense is the strength of the unit. So, if the Tigers are forced to run the ball, that could work in favor of the Vikings.

Pinetops NC: SWE’s Hyman plays Superman – Wilson Times

JACKSONVILLE — Superman was clad in a white-and-blue uniform, was without a cape and wore No. 5 on a cold Friday evening before an anemic turnout of some 250 in Northside High’s Mike Smith Stadium.

The visiting SouthWest Edgecombe varsity football team unleashed its version of Superman in 5-foot-9, 250-pound running back Devontrell Hyman in demolishing Northside, 32-13, in the second round of the North Carolina High School Athletic Association 2-AA playoffs.

In overshadowing Northside’s 6-2, 237-pound senior Kris Curry in the showdown of power backs, Hyman pounded for 223 yards and a touchdown on 20 rushes and all but snuffed the Monarchs’ comeback hopes with an 83-yard kickoff return for a TD after Northside opened the second half with a TD march. Pinetops, NC – SouthWest Edgecombe Parents Football Season Is About To Begin And Then It Will Be Basketball

This is why I ask for donations from time to time as I volunteer my services for the children and recording local meetings for the adults. So don’t think that I want your money to buy me things, I work a real job and 7 days a week unless I don’t volunteer to work. You see you don’t have to like me but you ought to like what I do. But for those who are haters, I have been doing what I do for years now and I am going to continue sacrificing my time, equipment and etc.

On Thursday August 21, 2014 SouthWest JV football will begin with the 1st game at Southern Nash High School. My son and atleast 1 of his friends or more normally go with us to the games. I will probably video the football games however I really just video basketball games. Football coach has their own cameraman.

Parents if you see me videoing games you need to ask about a copy of the games before the season is over because once the season is over I move on to the videoing another sport. I don’t get paid to video these games and football I just video them for myself. However basketball season I video for the coaches.

I volunteer my services using my equipment, furnish all of the DVDs, pay for my gas and food. Football games are twice a week and one game a night however basketball games are twice a week and I am really suppose to video the girls games. I video all or some of the JV boys basketball games if I get there from work in time. I video the varsity girls games and since I am there anyway I video the varsity boys games also.

During the basketball games, I normally make copies of the JV boys game while videoing the varsity girls games and make copies of the girls game while videoing the varsity boys games.

I repeat parents if you want a copy of the videos you need to get with me early on. My time is valuable and I video other things like meetings during the week also so I may not have time to go back and make copies in a timely fashion.

SWE players, parents and fans, I look forward to seeing you this week as the season begins.
