Jul 26, 2018; Spartanburg, SC, USA; Carolina Panthers new owner David Tepper walks to the field during training camp held at Wofford College.New Carolina Panthers owner David Tepper could not disagree more with the assertion that NFL players who protest during the pregame playing of the national anthem are unpatriotic.

Visiting Carnegie Mellon University on Thursday, Tepper told CNBC’s Scott Wapner on “Halftime Report” that it’s “dead wrong” to characterize players who have protested to promote racial equality, better policing and criminal justice reform as anti-military or anti-American. He added that those who’ve protested “are some of the most patriotic people and best people.”

“That was the biggest pile of bull-dingy ever,” he said. “These are some of the most patriotic people and best people. These are great young men. It just makes me so aggravated and angry. OK? It’s just wrong. It’s just dead wrong.”

Tepper backed his opinions by highlighting how much certain NFL players contribute to their communities, noting that many who’ve stood up — or knelt — for social justice have also done things to promote change.

His comments come a day after Miami Dolphins wide receiver Kenny Stills, who continues to demonstrate during the anthem, received an award, not to mention praise from Republican Sen. Marco Rubio, for his “contributions to social justice.” (Read more)

NFL players hit back over anthem policy — get ready for another political football season

In May, NFL team owners agreed on a new policy to fine teams next season if their players do not stand during the national anthem. The move took many by surprise and was seen as a victory for President Trump, who had spent more than a year publicly criticizing NFL players for kneeling, and the league for allowing them to kneel.

Now the NFL Players Association has filed an official grievance against the policy.

On Tuesday, the NFLPA filed a non-injury grievance on behalf of all players, and said in a statement, “This new policy, imposed by the NFL’s governing body without consultation with the NFLPA, is inconsistent with the collective bargaining agreement and infringes on player rights.” (Read more)

(CNN)LeBron James thinks the President is using athletics, and athletes, to split up the country. And he’s rejecting the premise like an opponent’s ill-advised layup.

“What I’ve noticed over the past few months,” James shared with CNN’s Don Lemon during a sit-down interview on Monday. “(Is) he’s kinda used sports to kinda divide us, and that’s something that I can’t relate to.”

Referencing Colin Kaepernick, whose kneeling protests during the pre-game national anthem launched an NFL movement, and more recently, Stephen Curry, who honored his promise of skipping a visit to Donald Trump’s White House, James bemoaned a myriad of instances in which the President has twisted peaceful displays of dissent into an indictment of a decaying American value system. Obviously It Is An Issue NFL Anthem Protest

The NFL rule says a player can stay in the locker room while the national anthem is played. However some coaches have taken it upon themselves to tell their players they must come out and stand.

So it is obvious those who have a problem with the players staying in the locker room and kneeling during the anthem is ignant to the facts, in denial or don’t give a damn about others freedom of speech. Oh but the same folk will say it is about freedom.

I am so damn glad I can see, read and comprehend for myself.

NY Giants co-owner on anthem protests: Trump ‘has no understanding of why they take a knee’–AOL

New York Giants co-owner Steve Tisch will not punish his players for any anthem displays of protest and hopes that President Donald Trump will focus on other issues, he told The Hollywood Reporter Tuesday.

“Hopefully he’ll have much more going on that he’s going have to deal with and should deal with and must deal with than worrying about what NFL players do,” Tisch told The Hollywood Reporter Tuesday night at the premiere of The Equalizer 2. “He has no understanding of why they take a knee or why they’re protesting. When the new season starts, I hope his priorities are not criticizing the NFL and telling owners what to do and what not to do.”

His comments come during a week when issues surrounding the anthem have resurfaced in part due to a joint statement released by the NFL and NFPA Thursday. That statement included that there will be no new rules issued relating to the national anthem, and that none will be enforced over the “next several weeks” while they continue to have “confidential discussions.” (Read more)

In Response To A Trump Supporter On The NFL Kneeling Protest

Curmilus Butch Dancy II I agree nobody is perfect. However it is up to others to call them out.

To say they are all crooks is a bit much to me.

Bill Clinton is irrelevant and has nothing to do with Trump stand on the NFL.

Yes the Flag stand for something and it is spelled out in the wording and some folk have an issue with that fact. When others begin to recognize and understand that black folk have every right to express how they feel about their opinions based on facts.

I have a problem with folk always talking about overpaid football players when they could get hurt and not be able to walk or use their limbs after one hit.

I hate interjecting irrelevancy in my response but a CEO can make all the money while the workers get paid crumbs in comparison to their salary.

Wow! That is a bit strong to tell someone to get out of the US if they don’t stand and take their hat off for 2 minutes. Wow! One minute it is about freedom and then the next minute it is about other folk opinions should dictate how others feel about the flag.

I am 55 but I have talked to many of folk especially my family one being my dad who is 84 and I am still trying to figure out when America was great.

I am yet to see anyone write out what will make America great again so therefore for me there is an hidden agenda as to what making America great again means.

Marvin Tillman To start off thank you for your service. I too have had many family members who have served and died for this country. I may have not served in the military but even thru a rough start i have served and given back to my country by coaching and mentoring kids along with helping the needy.

As for the protesting of the flag. The flag is not being protested. The protest is against what the flag doesn’t represent. As i recall freedom, liberty and justice for all. Our brave soldiers fought and died for what the flag stands for and represents. So if all Americans are not receiving these three thing, then our soldiers have fought and died for nothing.

As for these so called over paid athlete protesting. I understand and support their plight because I too have been a victim of police abuse and profiling. I am a law abiding citizen who pays a fair amount of taxes to support police officers. I even donate to their cause. This protest isn’t against all police officers. It’s against our judicial system who allow bad police officers to harass and kill innocent men of color freely without any repercussions.

There wouldn’t be a need for a protest if these issues were addressed. This kicking the can down the road and sitting in your comfort zone because you are not being targeted is the the problem.

No one is blaming the president but he is sure not helping the situation with his ill comments, which is illegal because he can’t intervene by using his presidential powers requesting a private business fire anyone. He has used racial division to divide this country and conquer the presidency (with a little outside help). He continues use racially divisive words to hold his base. So far as I am concerned he is a racist no buts and no ifs. MAGA is the same slogan used by the KKK in the 1800s.

Not only is he a Racist bigot, he’s a traitor. And for someone who has served in the military. I am surprised to see that your still supporting this scum bag. If it’s because the economy is doing good. It was doing good when he got into office and was still climbing.

We all want the country to good too, we just want to live safely and free and included in it too.

Jim Gauthier Okay ladies and gents, it’s time I put a little spin on things… We have all been around for a while and have seen past presidents come and go. One thing is common among all of them…They are all crooked in their own way. You can say all you want about President Trump, but remember Bill Clinton with Monica Lewinsky? Nobody’s perfect and every President does a thankless job. Although I don’t agree with everything that President Trump does, he does back our military and police officers. I am an ex US ARMY Sergeant and proudly served our country 1985-1989. My mother lost her only brother in the Vietnam War and his name is on the wall in Washington DC. As patriotic as I am, our US flag stands for something… It is NOT a platform for spoiled, overpaid athletes to complain about how oppressed our country is; however it is to HONOR those soldiers who gave up their lives so we can enjoy the freedoms that we have today!! If you can’t stand up proudly for two minutes with your hat off and hand on your heart, get on a plane and get the heck out of the US!! We live in the greatest country in the world!! The NFL SHOULD institute a policy against kneeling during the National Anthem!! Last year I shut my TV off and wouldn’t watch the NFL on Sunday’s, I was pissed!! If we want to make this country a better place, it starts with each and every one of us. Please don’t blame the President!! The next time you look in the mirror ask yourself, ” Did I do everything humanly possible to make this world a better place today?” If the answer to this question is yes, then this extreme hate that we currently have in this country will slowly cease to exist. I am a Trump supporter and I believe that he will make America Great Again!!
