Let Me Set The Record Straight – Pastors Should Mentor In Schools & Jails

This post is about Pastors so stay on topic it ain’t about other folk mentoring in schools and jails.

When I post things I post it because I have already had a discussion around the topic be it people and issues.

I have been talking to some Pastors, Educators, Law Enforcement and other about the need for Pastors being seen in the schools and jails.

When I say Pastors should mentor in the schools and jails, common sense tell me that all will not be willing to for whatever reasons. Some don’t need to because they ain’t living right to be the one to minister in schools and jails. Some should not be a Pastor of a church but that is just my ignant opinion. However I stand behind my opinions.

I say some things many times that somebody else has said and folk take it as all me but I am ignant enough to say what some others are not willing to say publicly. I don’t have a problem with others disagreeing with what I say because I agitate and make folk say what is in their heart.

But what tickles the hell out of me is when folk respond to what I say they speak for other folk instead of speaking about where they stand personally on the topic. If they don’t want to operate out of their comfort zones that is fine but speak for themselves and state why. But if my posts ain’t for some folk they don’t need to respond.

I have a problem when folk are trying to justify something because of where they stand and that is okay but for those who can relate to the topic from a personal standpoint, that is who need to respond.

Oh somebody will say oh you said Pastors and I was talking about all. See that is their opinion just like quoting scriptures many take the same scripture and have differing opinions.

I posted the post about Pastors should be mentoring in the schools and jails because I have been in discussion with The Eastern Ministerial Alliance.

Some will find scriptures to support why they should not be held to a standard when it comes to ministering to schools and jails however I bet someone can quote a scripture that will counteract those scriptures.

Back to doing what I do creating discussions amongst my brothers and sisters.

Thanks to those who are not afraid to join in.

I got to get ignant before I end. I have always wondered how a Pastor can talk to someone about getting married when they have never been married and/or have been married 4 times. How can they tell someone how to raise their child when they have no children. (I helped parents long before I had a child in the school system and folk said you out there at the school and you will see how they treat your child when you have one in the system.)

Lastly for me ministering to someone is me operating in my space and when someone need more than I can offer then I refer them to someone who are in the space that can help them. That is called RESOURCES. Everybody need them.

Tunnels, jails and canals: Remnants of the Underground Railroad still exist in Halifax County

HALIFAX, N.C. — Highly secretive and illegal during its era, there are very few remnants of the Underground Railroad in North Carolina. However, if you’re looking to find clues to its past, one of the best places to begin is by following our state’s major rivers.

In the 1700 and 1800s, major rivers were known as "Freedom Roads," and if you explore the Roanoke River in Halifax County, you’ll find pieces of the Underground Railroad’s history still standing today.

Halifax County is the only place in N.C. with three registered historic sites on the National Underground Railroad Network to Freedom. In this quiet rural community, you can touch tangible remnants of this painful and often-forgotten past.

There’s a trail that leads to the Roanoke River – and along the trail, historians have placed signs showing actual newspaper ads ran by plantation-owners seeking men and women who had escaped slavery.

There’s even a 200-year-old stone aqueduct – imposing and draped in ivy in the middle of the woods – that was built using enslaved labor – then later used as part of the Underground Railroad itself.

Along a trail to the Roanoke River, city councilwoman and historian Sandra Bryant says she can almost sense the Freedom Seekers who once walked in these very woods, following the river to a dream of freedom.

Today, the Underground Railroad Trail is just one place in Historic Halifax that allows visitors a glimpse of this history. (Read more)
