First Day Of Filing Edgecombe County Was Very Interesting!

I was the 1st to arrive at the Edgecombe County Board of Elections Office at around 11:40.

The first candidate to arrive was County Commissioner Wayne Hines. Next was Rep. Shelly Willingham and the Board of Elections Director called him up and told him that the Legislative District races were on a temporary stay that the US Senate, NC Senate, US House, NC House Seats are in the courts so they can not file til further notice. This is all of the NC Legislative races. However the stay has been lifted and they will be able to file tomorrow although when the judges hear the appeal the maps may not change but if they vote the maps are partisan gerrymandered then the maps will have to be redrawn.

The following candidates arrived. Evelyn Wilson Edgecombe County School Board member. Sheriff Clee Atkinson and Clerk of Court Carol A. White.

I left to go take care of some business and then came back to the Board of Elections Office.

The next candidate to arrive was a female that I had never seen before. We were talking and she said she was with Concerned Citizens. She asked me was I the county photography and I said I am a blogger. She said she was there for Ward 3. I immediately thought she must have been there to work with Councilman Richard Joyner or Bronson Williams. I said so you are running against Richard and Bronson. She said yes. She told me she moved here last year in November and then decided she was going to stay here in March.

The female said she and the children had been working with Richard on the farm. She said the had been involved in school stuff and Parks and Rec. Interesting in more ways than one because she had to file to vote in NC and then file to run at the same time.

It was funny when Richard came in and he said hey Crystal and she said hey Pastor. He asked her what was she doing there. She said for Ward 3. He asked her what made he decided to run and she told him.

Wow! Crystal Windes-Anderson filed for Ward 3.

Incumbent Richard Joyner Ward 3 filed.

Sources say, George Thorne for County Commissioner District 4. Heard incumbent William Billy Wooten is not running.

Brandy Paige Chappell filed for Mayor of Tarboro. Joe Pitt current mayor is not seeking re-election.

Lydia Hyslop filed for Tarboro Ward 5.

Stay tuned
