Here we go again! Remember the issue in Rocky Mount with the 6 girls posting a photo on Social Media, Nashville NC: Six White Girls In Controversial Photo Bring On Challenges About Nash-Rocky Mount Schools Policy And Procedures Being Carried Out Consistently.
CHAPEL HILL, NC (WTVD) — Concerned parents told ABC11 Monday that a photo posted to the social media site Instagram has upset many students.
The picture was allegedly taken by an East Chapel Hill High School student. It shows two girls waving confederate flags. The person who posted the picture included the caption “South will rise.”
Under that, someone commented “Already bought my first slave.”
The school confirmed to ABC11 the photo was taken in Gettysburg during a school trip focused on the Civil War a few weeks ago.
The photo and the comments have since been removed from the site. ABC11 is not identifying the person who posted the picture due to their age.
The school system says it has taken action, but can’t say exactly how it addressed the student’s conduct. (Source: Read more)
Check out the controversy surrounding the Nash Central High School controversy and form your own decision. The following is my ignant opinion.
I am pass the 6 girls in the photo and the 7th person that took the photo because although it didn’t happen at school, it is now a school issue because the school is providing police protection. The controversy comes at a time when towns across the United States are speaking out against the murdering of black folks by the police.
FACT: The girls posted the photo on Instagram and obviously some students took issue with it because the white girls have been given police protection by the school system. So therefore it is now a school issue.
FACT: The NAACP and the community are now being made aware of the issue that took place a couple of weeks ago so don’t act as if the NAACP started this mess. They are questioning the mess.
Fact: It is 6 girls in the photo so who is the 7th person that took the photo?
For me it is about questioning whether the school system is following their own policies and procedures and being a community activist dating back to the late 80’s and a Life Fully Paid Member of the NAACP I believe the school is not treating this mess like they have other incidents within the system especially when it comes to dealing with black students.
I don’t want to talk about the girls, the KKK and other at the moment I want to talk about the school system not following their policies and procedures and if that is proven then the issue with the girls being suspended will take care of itself.
I have also stated that I want to know who the parents are because that may help solve why the mess is being treated the way it has. Somebody is protecting somebody.
I have seen the Press Release from the NAACP so where is the Press Release from the school system that should have come a couple of weeks ago.
Something is wrong with this picture and it is greater than the girls. Again for me it is now about the school system policies and procedures.
