NC football star Quontellas Norwood returns just 36 days after being shot in a drive-by – USA Today

PINETOPS, N.C. – It was in the dark where the premonition came.

In the dark, under the pale light of the full moon in the wee hours of the morning of Aug. 30.

An uneasy hesitation set in Lashell Norwood as her 17-year-old son Quontellas, a football star at Southwest Edgecombe High in Pinetops, N.C., was about to back her Chrysler 300 out of the driveway, after dropping her, her daughter and her granddaughter off, and take his friend Antonio Dickens home.

She paused.

“Hurry back,” she said. “Be careful.”

He said he would. She knew he would. Quontellas was always careful.

But on this night in Rocky Mount, N.C., the neighboring city where he lives, careful wouldn’t be enough to stop the evil that lurked on Leggett Road. (Source: Read more)

Not a gang-banger, a good kid: SW Edgecombe athlete shot – WRAL

The Political Agitator’s response: I am still shocked. Quontellas is my son’s classmate and I look forward to supporting him and the guys during football and basketball season. Although I am the official videographer for the varsity basketball games, I also record the football games for myself because I can see what is going on on the field better looking at it through the camera.

Rocky Mount, N.C. — A multi-sport athlete from SouthWest Edgecombe High School was shot early Sunday while he was driving Rocky Mount.

According to police, Quontellas Norwood, 17, was driving in the 1300 block of Leggett Road at about 1:45 a.m when someone in a passing car fired shots into his vehicle.

Norwood crashed, got out and went to a nearby house for help. He told the homeowner there that he had just dropped a friend off at a home nearby when the shots rang out. (Source: Read more)

SouthWest Edgecombe Football Player Injured During A Gun Shot On Last Night

My son just told me that Quontellas Norwood had been shot last night. As always when I hear something I do some research. I visited Norwood’s page and I got a confirmation that it is true.

This is touching because I look forward to seeing my boys on the football field and basketball floor since I video the games.

I really don’t know Norwood’s condition however it was posted by someone on his page he was ok. I will take the trip to the hospital along with my son and a couple of more students.

Wishing Norwood a speedy recovery.
