Condolences Goes Out To The Family Of The Late Don Pollard & Family

It is with great sadness we were notified that the former Fire Chief of Princeville Volunteer Fire Department, Chief Don Pollard, transitioned from time to eternity.

During his distinguished career and dedicated service to the Princeville Fire Department, he faithfully served in many capacities while working his way through the ranks. Chief Pollard’s passion for the service to his community was so unmistakable and plain. He is most noted for his unrelenting leadership during a trying and turbulent time for Princeville Fire Department when the flood of 1999 destroyed the station, equipment, and countless other things that left the members with the lingering question: “Where do we go from here?” Chief Pollard’s response was “we’re going FORWARD from here.”

We are thankful to have derived an advantage of life lessons while serving under Chief Pollard’s leadership. One of many lessons from his leadership that we thrive on today is if something is highly valued and is of great significance and is important to you, STAND YOUR GROUND even when it’s disfavored by others. This lesson did not come without a warning. He demonstrated that before you stand your ground, you must do your due diligence to make certain that you are RIGHT.

To his wife, children, grandchildren and great grands, thank you for sharing Chief Pollard with us up til the day he traded in his fire gear with 39 years of service for a fishing rod of retirement.

In closing, there is a story told of a man who hosted his friends over for a dinner. When his friends arrived, they noticed that the host kept getting up and going in the bedroom. After the third or fourth time, one of the friends asked the host, “what are you doing?” The host replied, “every night I check on my children when they go to bed. I check on them periodically because they all fall asleep at different times. But what is interesting is in the morning, they get up at the same time.” Here it is! Take comfort in knowing that Chief Pollard may have fallen asleep first, but he’s going to get up with us at the same time in that great getting up morning. Take comfort and rest in this promise.

On behalf of Chief A. Brown, Deputy Chief L. Harris, the officers, members, auxiliary and Board of Directors of Princeville Fire Department, we offer our sincerest condolences. Our prayers are with you today, tomorrow and in the days ahead.

In His service,

Chaplain Alvin Lafon Jones

Homegoing Celebration For Cleola Johnson Will Be Held Thursday April 9, 2020

imageHomegoing Celebration For Cleola Johnson. It is so sad that we are experiencing the Coronavirus effect because Cleo touched so many lives and I know her Celebration would be packed. But her work speak for her. Such a loving and caring person didn’t matter how young or old they were. The last time I seen her a couple around a month ago she was serving with Deloris Porter at the Repass for Deacon Linwood Glass at Macedonia MBC Princeville NC. That was the type of person she was wanted to help out in spite of all that she was going through. We go way back when she used to live in the community and she, Mrs. Ethel Sharpe used to talk a lot. And then we were members of the same church over the past several years. She will truly be missed!

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time. Arrangements are being handled by Shawn Lea Funeral Home of Scotland Neck. View full obituary

Sister Cleo will be missed at my church Anderson Chapel MBC. She was a faithful member until her heath began to fail her. She knew how to get folk to come to church when she put on programs. Last year she told me how much she enjoyed my Men’s Day Programs. The last time I seen her was at a Funeral at Macedonia Church last month and she was helping serve at the Repass. Cleo was no stranger to anyone and would help anyone if she had it.

Homegoing Celebrations Documented By The DCN News Blog Online TV

Let The DCN News Blog Online TV capture your love one homegoing celebration so that the family history will be documented on video and photos.

Capture the wake services the day before if have one.

Capture the viewing and/homegoing celebration on the same day. Some folk have a viewing 1 hour or 2 hours before the funeral.

I can post the photos on Facebook and the videos on YouTube so that they can go worldwide and family and friends that could not attend can share in the celebration by viewing the documents.

I have documented hundred plus homegoing celebrations over the years. I have had some folk to ask me did I record their love one or someone’s homegoing celebration and I say to them I don’t just go around recording these celebrations without permission. Some folk get the celebrations documented but sometimes they keep them private.

During a homegoing celebration you will not remember all of the folk who were present. You will probably not remember all of the message from the preacher and other program items.

Sometimes there may be a family member who are in jail and can not attend, the jail will allow them to have a special time alone to view the video and photos.

I do not like sharing casket views online so I do not include the casket view photos on Facebook nor on the video on YouTube unless the family want them included. Sometimes I have I have just posted the sermon and not the entire celebration.

Going back viewing the documents of the homegoing celebration it helps bring closure to losing a love one.

If you contact me about my services this is what I will provide.

I try to capture everyone that comes in during the processional as the family enters. I try to capture everyone coming out of the church or the location as the family and others prepare to go the internment. I capture the burial. Sometimes I go to the repast and capture the prayer and food and then leave.

I will capture the celebration on DVD and you will receive 2 DVDs.

If you want photos I will put them on a flash drive and you can have them developed at Walgreen, Walmart or etc.

I try to get the documents DVD and flash drive ready within 24 – 48 hours depending upon if I have another event on the same day or if time permit me to.

Contact me today if you should have any questions.
