Edgecombe County Sunday March 11, 2018 I Will Remember The Scene Of The Accident Involving A Sheriff Deputy David Manning & 2 Other Vehicles

I will remember Sunday March 11, 2018 18:15 all the days of my life as I seen a vehicle that had wrecked and I thought it was strange because of where it was. But then as I drove about 2 tenths of a mile I ran into 2 more vehicles in the ditch. I immediately thought the 1st car I seen was probably the cause of the wreck. I seen a man running around the car and as l looked into my rearview mirror he acted as if he was trying to find something at the house he had wrecked in front of but he was probably trying to act as if he lived there. But then again come to think about it, it may not had been the driver of the car and could have been the person who lived in the house.

As I drove up I seen debris all over the highway in the field and the Sheriff vehicle in the ditch and then a truck in the ditch in front of the Sheriff vehicle. When I got out of my car a male friend came up to me and told me who the deputy was and that he had was not breathing. I felt so helpless. As I walked over to the deputy I felt so helpless. Someone then said there are 2 people trapped in the truck and again I felt so helpless.

Someone was hollering stop the traffic because 1 to 2 cars coming from Tarboro was trying to drive through. I immediately then went and parked my car in the middle of the road to block the traffic coming from Pinetops.

Since I have the Sheriff Clee Atkinson personal cell phone from over the years I tried to call him because all I could think about was when his Deputies arrive on the scene they were going to be all messed up when they seen what was going on. I was also going to let him know about the car that had wrecked so someone could get on it. But the Sheriff didn’t pick up and I learned he was at a church program speaking at the moment.

Shortly after a Sheriff Deputy arrived on the scene and he began trying to work on the Deputy until the Rescue arrived. It had to be tough for that Deputy because it was tough for me because I have much respect for our Sheriff’s Office. I don’t know who the Deputy was but I commend him for what I seen him doing.

After the fire department, other deputies and other rescue personnel began to arrive on the scene and they were securing the area I then walked back over to see about the folk in the truck. This is when the driver of the truck that I knew called me over and asked me to video the scene. I was taking some photos and I then switched over to video mode.

I normally stay to the scene longer but I left because I just couldn’t stay any longer.

For anyone who wonder what kind of photos and videos that I have, I have none of the Deputy at the scene. I wish had captured the deputy who was working on the deputy for my archives.

I didn’t share any of my photos of the vehicles because I wanted to wait until all involved families learn about what happened so for me as a media person I would wait until the following day at the earliest. I don’t show coverage where a deceased person will be shown physically at any given time.

I received a message on yesterday from someone giving me the latest status on the couple that was in the truck. I plan to check on all families today or as soon as possible because I do work a real job and working 10 hours a day and 6 and 7 days a week. I do The DCN News Blog Online TV out of pocket and during my time away from my main job. I don’t get paid to do this.

My heart goes out to the entire family of Deputy David Lee’Sean Manning whom I know his granddad and grandmother real well. I know of the mother but I didn’t know the Deputy. My heart also goes out the family that was in the truck and the man first name is David also whom I know very well.

I travel 111/122 Highway every day as I go to and from from work. I also go to Tarboro on the days that I don’t work. I said that to say that I will relive my day at the scene daily. I will always think about how I felt so helpless that I could not do anymore to help all involved in the accident. I thrive on helping folk and I just wish it was more than I could have done than just block traffic.

My son had gone to work at 4:00 PM. I was en route to Tarboro and we both had to go through the area where the accident occurred and we could have been coming through. I was in the area shortly after the accident occurred so I could have been involved.

As I close I want to end by saying I have a problem when folk try to tell me what happened during the accident. Hell you were not there. Someone that seen what happened told me what they seen and I have not shared in detail on my blog what they said. I rather they tell the investigating officers and not read about it on my page.

I have a problem with it being reported that a Tar River Times Paper reporter said that he was reporting what a witness said about the cause of the accident and they were going to share more in the Thursday’s paper. Well 1st of all from what I know the Tar River Times has one reporter which makes up the paper. From what I read it appears that the reporter was not even at the scene earlier on and know that I know them so he had to write the article knowing that if they had written it a certain way I could call them out.

Another problem I have is everyone I run into that want to talk about the accident, they are trying to figure out what happened. Damn just wait until the State Patrol investigation is completed. I was not there and those who seen it can tell the story and I hate it we will never be able to hear Deputy Manning’s side. So folk please just wait and the investigation will be made public.

I ain’t trying to figure out what happened. My opinion do not matter now and it will not matter tomorrow because it will always just be my opinion. I will accept whatever the State Patrol investigation make public.

Folk you don’t need to worry about my reporting because I try to report with integrity although sometimes folk may have a problem with accepting the truth. What folk need to do is call out fake news be it local and abroad. I do just that.

I want to thank all of the folk who were at the scene who were trying to do something and to just try to comfort the accident victims. What I seen was everyone trying to do something if not anything but praying.

I also want to thank the couple of folk who called me and sent me a message asking was I okay. I am a strong man but I hurt and cry with others because when others around me are not happy, I ain’t happy.

In times like these the community comes together. So let’s support these families and other families in the days to come.

Edgecombe County Sheriff Deputy David Manning Dies In A Freak 3 Car Accident

I was en route to Tarboro on Highway 111/122 around 18:15 on Sunday March 11, 2018 and about 2 miles from where I live I seen a car in the ditch on the opposite side of the road as if he was turning into a yard. But I knew something was not right because you can turn into the yard from the highway the entire length of the front yard to go to the residence. The car was in the ditch and barely missed the mailbox.

As I continued around a curve about a 500 feet I seen what appeared to be another accident. It immediately came to my mind that I bet the car I had just seen was somehow involved with the accident. It was a male running around like he was trying to get the car out but that was not possible.

As I was walking up to see what was going on and I seen a Sheriff vehicle in the ditch and in front of it a truck. A person that I know said man this is someone’s son that live in Pinetops. He begin to tell me what was going on with the Deputy. Someone else said there are 2 people pinned in the truck.

There were 1 to 2 cars trying to come through from the Tarboro side and someone was hollering stop the traffic. I immediately went to my car and parked it middle way of the road to block traffic coming from Pinetops. I stood by my car and watched what was going on.

A deputy came up and he went to the deputy and … Shortly after the rescue squad arrived. The rescue loaded the deputy up and they left en route to the hospital.

After a volunteer fireman came up and begin to control the traffic telling them to turn around, I then walked back to see about the folk in the truck and to look at the entire scene. I began to take some photos and then one of the victims whom I know called me over and said to record the scene for him. I didn’t know at the time if he was a victim or why but I assumed he was his truck and it was his wife who I could tell was a part of the accident. I then went from photo mode to video mode. I had left my video camera and my photo camera at home, something I rarely do in case if I should need it.

After I videoed the entire area there was a call out for everyone to move away from the scene and go back by the fire trucks. I left the scene.

My sister who live right down from me had posted it was a bad wreck on Tarboro Highway and I said yes it is and I had just left the scene.

Folk begin to call me and to inbox me about the accident and I only shared limited information with them.

I received a phone call from someone that was nearby that told me what they had seen and asked me about the deputy and other.

I do not share publicly the names of accident victims until I have received the Press Release and or read about it or see it on a major news outlet.

I heard there was a video online that was done at the scene and when I looked for it it had been removed.

I have photos and video and will share them when I am told I can however I could do it now but it is called respect.

I have been thinking about the families involved every since I left the scene.

I know the deputy family and the family that was in the truck. I have not heard who the person is that make up the 3rd vehicle.

This is a sad time for all involved.
