Children have changed America before, braving fire hoses and police dogs for civil rights – The Washington Post

The school gates were locked. But that didn’t keep hundreds of students from crawling up and over the fences, defying their parents, teachers and school principals to march against segregation.

It was May 1963 in Alabama, and Birmingham’s brutal public safety commissioner, Eugene “Bull” Connor, was waiting. His police moved in, herding the children into squad cars, paddy wagons and school buses for the trip to jail.

When the students kept coming, Connor turned fire hoses on them, knocking the children to the ground and spinning them down the street. To fight the high-powered blasts, some children joined hands trying to keep their balance in a human chain. But the torrents were too fierce; hit by the rocket-bursts of water the kids whirled one way, then the other, dragging down their comrades. (Read more)

It Ain’t All About The Children, All Adults That Come In Contact With Them Play A Role In How They Act

There are many components when it comes to children and it ain’t all about the parents. Some parents are real parents and some are not for whatever reason they keep them from being real parents. Those who come in contact with children must set good examples for them.

Parents you can teach your children to do what is right but when an adult come in contact with them such as teachers, coaches and others in authority they can do things that make the child confused. For example a parent can teach a child to respond to adults but when they question them the child may respond to them in a way that the adult do not agree with them and then they may punish the child.

So my point is, everybody has a role to play. I know my role, do you know yours? I know my children, do you know yours? Do you know what adults that your children come in contact with are doing to them to make them do some things that they are doing negatively? Ask your children how things are going and you may be shocked to know what is going on with them. Just may be something that another adult is doing to them to make them like they are.

I Am So Glad

Truth! I started out advocating in the early 90’s for the youth, the elderly and those in between who have no voice because they are too young, too old, scared or whatever the reasons may be.

I have really been an advocate for education in Edgecombe County but not limited to long before I had a child in the Edgecombe County Public Schools system. Check out the minutes from over the years and you will find my comments as I addressed the ECPS regularly.

I found myself advocating for other folks children while they didn’t and still do not attend the school board meetings. But that is alright because that means my mission is working because that means I am advocating for the children who have no voice.

All of these folks talking about they are all about the children, so what are you doing?

If I don’t do anymore advocating I have done more than my fair share. That is why today I do what I do, how I do it and when I want to do it because I have been there done that!

When We As Parents Do The Best That We Can (What Is Required Of A Parent) Then Our Living Will Not Have Been In Vain

When we as parents do the best that we can (what is required of a parent) then our living will not have been in vain.

When we become a parent then we must give up our childish ways and know that we must sacrifice at all cost for the welfare of our children.

We must understand that when we have children it becomes all about our children.

If you have children stop and ask yourself am I doing the very best that I can about my children. If you don’t know what is required to do your very best, then you need to ask somebody.

If you do not have any children stop and ask am I ready to be the very best parent that I can be doing what is required to be a parent and if your answer is no, then just don’t do it.

Children should not have to worry about how they will eat, how they will be clothed and other things in life that is required of a parent. Curmilus Dancy II Monday January 27, 2014

Black Folks You Say You Are Concerned About The Children? If So How Do You Allow Folks To Attack Your Leaders Who Are Adults?

If you say you are concerned about the children then how do you allow folks to attack your leaders who are adults?

I don’t like using apples and oranges to get my point across. I eat those things in which was the intent of their being.

Last week WHIG-TV and Fighting Crime and Cleaning in Rocky Mount in which began a campaign to once again attack Rocky Mount City Councilman Mayor Pro-tem Andre Knight and also the President of the local Rocky Mount NAACP. Lige Daugthdridge President of a group recently formed call The Community Council. First of all what a damn co-incidence that they named the group close to the name of the Rocky Mount City Council. Lige a white male addressed the Rocky Mount City Council and voiced his opinion during the public comments. When the white man finished his 3 minutes and others were given the opportunity speak on whatever their concerns were, Knight addressed Lige. Knight said he felt that Lige was not supported of the Event Center because the Rocky Mount City Council is a 4-3 black majority and the city has a black city manager. This was Knight’s opinion and he was not speaking for the other members on the council but speaking from himself as a councilman but keep in mind he is a citizen and President of the NAACP. This was Knight’s opinion.

WHIG-TV put up the video of the meeting in less than an hour after the meeting was over and began their ignant campaign trying to discredit a black leader. Let me say I don’t agree with everything Knight says but I be damn if I will allow folks to discredit my brother of an opinion. WHIG-TV said that Knight called Lige a racist which is a lie. If Knight had wanted to call him a racist he has the balls to say it. After I watched the video I said damn dude handled himself well. But you see if I was to listen to these 2 groups and some others, I would write my brother off also. But oh hell no, I can think for myself. And most of all, I know the man.

If you don’t know Knight, you need to do some homework to find out who he is. You don’t need to allow WHIG-TV and Fighting Crime and Cleaning Up Rocky Mount to pick and choose your leaders. Fighting Crime and Cleaning Up Rocky Mount had the damn audacity to start a Petition which is baseless and filled with lies. I feel strong that Knight out to persue seeking Defamation of Character because it is stated on the Petition that Knight do not live in Ward 1. WHIG-TV played a role in the movement to remove Knight from serving in Ward 1 some years ago. Knight ended up winning the case after having to appeal to the State of NC and they ruled in his favor. Edgecombe County had to pay Knight’s attorney fees.

My point, if we allow folks to discredit our black adult males, what in the hell do you think they are going to do to our children? Do you know that the children see how some folks that call themselves adults will stand by allow leaders like Knight to be assassinate, lynched in hanged in front of them? Knight and some others are on the battlefield daily fighting for our youths and some folks sit back and don’t say a damn thing. But guess what, when these very folks get in trouble, who do they call? You guessed it Rocky Mount City Councilman Mayor Pro-tem Andre Knight and President of the NAACP because they know he is popular and will stand up.

So know that I take names and keep up with who is silent.

Questions We Ask Of The Children But My Question Is Who Is The Head?

I continue to hear folks ask the children why they do this and why they do that as it relates to not going to school, joining gangs and other negatives?

Well my question is what in the hell are the adults doing to encourage them to want to stay in school, not join gangs and the other negatives?

In Rocky Mount look at how the adults allow Ignant Racist Ass White Folks to attack our leaders and they do not respond. Do young folks see anyone standing up to the racism that the black community face? Yes the black community has some issues of their own so I am not saying that racism is the only problem we have but is a real problem.

Some folks want the children to act like adults. Damn but that ain’t right, they are not adults yet.

So when are you going to act like an adult, adult?
