Nonprofit group offers affordable housing – Rocky Mount Telegram

The Rocky Mount-Edgecombe Community Development Corp. is continuing to help stimulate growth in Edgecombe County.

In an effort to spur residential development and to revive and encourage homeownership in East Rocky Mount, the nonprofit organization recently constructed two new homes in the Genesis Estates subdivision off Meadowbrook Road, said Kevin Harris, housing project manager for the community development corporation.

“We’re helping the individuals because home ownership is still one of the best ways to develop wealth,” Harris said. “By building these homes for one it’s going to help the tax base for the city and create jobs for the developers.” (Read more)
