Some folks are in denial or just don’t give a damn about what is actually going on in America as it relates to the BLACK FOLKS. But then some folks act like they don’t know why some black folks act like they do. Well I get it. I am not asleep! I am not dreaming! I know what time it is! Folks this is why some white folks don’t want black folks in office because things get revealed. Some white folks don’t want black folks in office because they are afraid that some black folks are going to stir up some stuff. Well hell the truth need to be stirred up! The truth will set us all free however I came to the conclusion a several years ago that some folks don’t want to be. Well I ain’t the one!

The probe is the result of an investigation ordered by Attorney General Eric Holder after the police shooting that killed Michael Brown last summer.

Among the findings, reviewed by CNN: from 2012 to 2014, 85% of people subject to vehicle stops by Ferguson police were African-American; 90% of those who received citations were black; and 93% of people arrested were black. This while 67% of the Ferguson population is black.

In 88% of the cases in which the Ferguson police reported using force, it was against African-Americans. During the period 2012-2014 black drivers were twice as likely as white drivers to be searched during traffic stops, but 26% less likely to be found in possession of contraband.

Blacks were disproportionately more likely to be cited for minor infractions: 95% of tickets for “manner of walking in roadway,” essentially jaywalking, were against African-Americans. Also, 94% of all “failure to comply” charges were filed against black people. (Source: Read more)

Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. this week will launch a broad civil rights investigation into the Ferguson, Mo., Police Department, according to two federal law enforcement officials.

The investigation, which could be announced as early as Thursday afternoon, will be conducted by the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division and follow a process similar to that used to investigate complaints of profiling and the use of excessive force in other police departments across the country, the officials said.

The announcement follows the shooting last month of Michael Brown, an 18-year-old African American, by a white Ferguson police officer, who claimed he acted in self-defense. Brown, who was unarmed, was shot at least six times on the afternoon of Aug. 9. (Source: Read more)

Federal complaint claims unfair policing policies in Wake County schools – News & Observer

Raleigh, N.C. — A complaint filed Wednesday with the U.S. Department of Justice claims school policing policies and practices in the Wake County Public School System "unnecessarily and unlawfully punish and criminalize minor misbehaviors and disproportionately harm African-American students and students with disabilities."

Legal Aid of North Carolina’s Advocate for Children Services and more than a dozen other groups filed the complaint against the school system, the Wake County Sheriff’s Office and eight police departments in Wake County, saying that law enforcement officers are routinely used at schools to address minor discipline matters, such as throwing water balloons, stealing paper from a recycling bin and play-fighting with a friend. 10 New Grants From Justice Dept Recovery Act Funds-

Recovery Act Funds Aid Energy Efficiency and Promote Green Job Growth

$4.9 Million in Energy Efficiency & Conservation Block Grants Assist Local Governments

RALEIGH Gov. Bev Perdue today announced that an additional $4.9 million in federal Recovery Act funding for energy efficiency block grants has been awarded to 58 projects in 52 local governments to help save on utility and fuel bills and create jobs.  The grants mark the last distribution of money from the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant program in North Carolina, for a total of about $11.9 million to 104 local governments, public school systems and community colleges.

“Investing in green energy and creating green jobs is one of my top priorities,” said Gov. Bev Perdue.  “These federal recovery funds will create jobs, reduce energy consumption and save taxpayers money on county and municipal utility bills.”

The grants program is administered by the North Carolina Energy Office, part of the state’s Department of Commerce, to encourage energy conservation and economic investment in counties, municipalities, community colleges and public schools.  A total of $7.2 million is available to local government agencies and $6.3 million to public schools and community colleges.

The grants have been awarded as follows:

· Enfield — $85,106 for lighting retrofits and street lighting improvements.  Total cost of the project is $113,021.

· Nash County — $126,472 for improvements to the chiller and lighting at the Agriculture Center, hot water and lighting controls at the Detention Center and energy management improvements at the Social Services office.

· Nashville — $12,571 to improve lighting at the police and fire department and other buildings.  Total cost of the project is $17,412.

· Tarboro — $200,000 to improve the town’s electric distribution system; digital controls for the heating and air conditioning system at the police department; improve lighting at the electric department’s truck bay, the Braswell Recreation Center, the M.A. Ray Recreation Center and the E.L. Roberson Senior Center.  Total cost of the project is $229,673.


Justice Dept. Is Offering 10 New Grants for Violence Reduction Project

AGENCY: The Justice Dept. is making available $2.5 million for 10 grants of $250,000 each to prevent and reduce the impact of violence on children in their homes and communities.


SUMMARY: Grantees will help communities develop and put in place programs designed to ameliorate the impact of violence on children up to age 17.

ELIGIBILITY: Governments, institutions of higher education, public housing authorities, nonprofits and for-profits.
