Judge blocks Ohio from limiting early voting Preliminary injunction restores 35-day period – The Blade

COLUMBUS — Ohio cannot enforce a new state law for this election that reduced the number of days available for voters to cast absentee ballots by mail or in person, a federal judge ordered today.

U.S. District Court Judge Peter C. Economus granted a preliminary injunction sought by the NAACP, the League of Women Voters of Ohio, and a group of African American ministers that effectively restores the full 35 days of early voting prior to the Nov. 4 general election.

He found that the law is likely unconstitutional even though the state argued that its absentee voting options are more liberal than most states in the nation. His order requires Secretary of State Jon Husted, a Republican, to add more evening voting hours and an additional Sunday to the hours he previously had set through a directive.  (Source: Read more)

Early Voting Began Today Thursday July 3, 2014 For N.C. House District 23 Race Willingham vs Holderness

Shelly Willingham received the most votes against his opponents during the May Primary Election. Rusty Holderness was 2nd runner up, Taro Knight 3rd and Bronson William came in 4th. Because Willingham didn’t receive 40 percent of the votes, Holderness was able to call for a run-off.

Folks you must get out and vote for Willingham on Tuesday July 15. I am going to vote for Willingham because first of all this is a black majority district and Willingham is capable of going to Raleigh and doing the best he can for the people of Edgecombe County but not limited to.

Rocky Mount voters you can go to D.S. Johnson Data Center 600 N. Fairview Road and at the Edgecombe County Administration Building 201 Saint Andrews Street Tarboro NC Monday – Friday 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM and 8:00 AM – 1 P. M. on Saturday.

The Run-Off Election or you could say the 2nd Primary will be held on July 15.

Early Voting Began Yesterday – Did You Know? Did You Vote? Are You Going To Early Vote? Or Will You Vote On Election Day May 6, 2014?

Early voting began yesterday and I hear some folks talking about a low turnout in some areas. Well this was just the first day. Some folks didn’t know or forgot about it. But guess what, folks will hear about it today and definitely this weekend when they go to the church and the club because I hope both places and others will announce it. There should be advertisements on the local radio and tv stations.

So now that you have read it here, now tell family and friends they can EARLY VOTE in Edgecombe/Nash Counties and across the state. For Edgecombe/Nash Counties see the location and time in a related post.

Early Voting Begins Today – Rocky Mount Has Changed Location For Early Voting

DS Johnson Resource Center 600 North Fairview Road.

I have not been over there yet but it should be signs on the ground pointing towards the location.

Yes this is a change from being right next door. This is why folks need to attend the Board of Elections meetings monthly so they will be abreast of the changes because voting places and precinct changes happens from time to time.

Yes much needed publicity is needed to make sure people know where to go.
