Judge orders DSS director Scott back to work – Daily Southerner

TARBORO — Marva Scott resumed her duties as the director of the Edgecombe County Department of Social Services (DSS) on Monday following a court ruling earlier in the day.

“Mrs. Scott looks forward to resuming her service to the people of Edgecombe County without further disruption or cost to the community,” said Scott’s lawyer, Kyle Nutt. (More)

Edgecombe social services director returns to post – Rocky Mount Telegram

An N.C. Superior Court Judge ruled this week that Edgecombe County must allow Marva Scott to return to work as director of social services while awaiting a hearing on an appeal.

During a hearing Monday in N.C. Superior Court in Tarboro, Alma Hinton, senior resident Superior Court judge for the First Division Court of North Carolina, denied Edgecombe County’s motion to stay. If granted, the stay would have allowed the county to hold off on reinstating Scott until the county’s appeal is resolved. (More)
