Anderson Chapel MBC A Moment In Black History

Why we should celebrate Black History every month?

We should celebrate Black History every month because we should celebrate our own history by telling our own story. Other folk can’t tell it like we can and the main thing is other folk don’t want us to know our history.

I feel we don’t celebrate enough of our history talking about folk who are alive. Yes, let’s celebrate the dead but we must celebrate the living so that we can maybe reach out to and inspire those of us who are living to want to make history while we are among living history makers.

Today I want to celebrate a black female born and raised in Edgecombe County. She worked in the Edgecombe County Clerk’s office and decided one day that she wanted to move up. She filed to run for her boss job and she was fired. She ran anyway. She won.

After 4 years she was seeking reappointment and there was a movement created in the white community called Edgecombe First. The group was successful in unseating her.

But in 1998 she ran again and this time she was victorious. She has been our Clerk of Superior Court since 1998 however she was 1st elected in 1990 and served til 1994.

I know the story because I was there in 1990 as I served as Precinct Chair, served on the Edgecombe County Democratic Party Executive Committee and we had to fight.

I am proud to say that the Honorable Carol Allen White was our 1st black Edgecombe County Superior Court and she has done a great job.

Photos/Video: Anderson Chapel MBC Dr. Margaret Knight Minister Bring Forth The Word 1st Sunday In July

This message was for me. I had not been to a morning service this year and it was as if I had spoke to Dr. Knight about something I had experienced on last week. I could relate to the message because I have been dealing with some folk for quite some time but as I stated last week I have had to fight all my life and I will not stop now. Although all of those years of fighting it was not all about me, but even in spite of fighting for other folk I had my own fights while some others didn’t even know it. It is all good because I can truly say that all of the folk that have attempted to make things bad for me, my father has stepped in and handled things. He has guided me along the way and I will trust him to the end. Some folk have to go through some things when they stand for what is right.

Anderson Chapel Church Videos I Recorded Just This Year 100 Count

This is a 100 pack video that I have recorded from January 2015 to December 2015. This is all of the church 1st and 3rd Sunday services along with other events but not limited to my Pastor Rev. Malcom E. Lewis, Co-Pastor Margaret Knight and Sheriff/Deacon James Knight speaking at other churches. Also include others speaking at Anderson Chapel. I make sure my pastor and co-pastor get a copy of the services. I challenged my pastor to take a DVD to the sick and shut in members.

I love what I do and I do this at my expense using my cameras and buying the DVDs. When we have certain events and the kitchen crew is in the kitchen or if we need to use the fellowship hall for an overflow, we have ran cable so there will be tv access in that area.

I have also taken 1000’s of photos as I take 250 to 500 photos everytime I video. So do the math add photos x 100 DVDs.

I also go to my pastor’s 2nd church in Goldsboro NC and video every now and then.

I put the videos on the internet @ Church Events Anderson Chapel MBC TV and the photos on Facebook. The videos roll off after 30 days because if I keep them up I would have to pay for storage.

I look forward to the upcoming year capturing church events in 2016 and sharing it with you, you and you.
