Atkinson defeats GOP challenger

Clee Atkinson Jr. will continue as Edgecombe County sheriff.

Atkinson, 45, earned a landslide victory over Republican Danny Colbert, 53, in the Edgecombe County sheriff’s race. Atkinson collected 14,404 votes or 83.5 percent to Colbert’s 2,834 votes or 16.4 percent….
