Event Center adds to schedule – Rocky Mount Telegram

The Watch Dog response: They b & complain because they didn’t want it to come oh to the Edgecombe County side. They b & complain because it is coming. They b & complain about the parking. They just b & complain because it is this council. Now they are b & complain about what is coming to the Center. Well it is coming so you may as well get over your b ing & complaing. And they b & complain about parking go to the July 3 fireworks and see where folk will be parking because everyone will not be able to park at the stadium. See folk being charged to park across the road and see folk parked all around the local area even on the by-pass. Point when I go to a Carolina Panthers game I see folk being charged to park all around the stadium however nearly every time I have gone I have been fortunate to get a parking pass to park in the Panthers Parking Lot. Also when I go to a basketball game at UNC Chapel Hill folk park all around because there is not enough parking. I see folk being bused in to these events because they park their cars at a location and get transported to the stadium. SMDH!

The Rocky Mount Event Center, with a grand opening set for Nov. 4, promises to bring new business by acquiring new activities and events to the area.

Sporting events will be a big driver of this plan, and securing tournaments, highly-attended high school rivalry basketball games and prominent performers like the Harlem Globetrotters — who will headline the grand opening — will be key as the city transitions into life with a state-of-the-art facility.

The Event Center will be the home to a number of sporting events from around the area, as well as larger state-wide and regional tournaments. A big get that organizers are proud of is convincing the NTBA — National Travel Basketball Association — to play its title games in Rocky Mount. The NTBA will host its state championships at the event center in 2019. (Read more)
