The Greenville City Council voted to name the Greenville Transportation Activity Center for First District Democrat Congressman G.K. Butterfield.
The project costs over $7.1 million — with local funds making up $800,000.
The majority of funding is from federal transportation grants.
The hub will be located on South Pitt Street and Bonners Lane and will provide a centrally located transfer facility where local and regional transportation services can connect.
Construction is expected to be completed on the 9,500 square foot facility in the spring of 2018.
