GREENSBORO, N.C. – A federal three-judge panel has appointed a “special master” to “assist the Court in evaluating” the districts that Plaintiffs explained either failed to cure the racial gerrymandering the court unanimously found in 2016 or violate the state constitution.  The Special Master will also help in “developing an appropriate plan remedying any problem with” districts in the plan adopted by the North Carolina General Assembly in August 2017 that the court may find inappropriate as a remedy. The remedial redistricting process took place after the same three-judge panel found 28 districts to be unconstitutional racial gerrymanders in 2016.

The order announces the court’s intention to appoint Professor Nathaniel Persily, a professor at the Stanford School of Law, as the special master to review the redistricting proposal.  The full court order can be read at http://bit.ly/SpecialMaster.

Anita Earls, Executive Director of the Southern Coalition for Social Justice and lead attorney for plaintiffs in the case, issued the following statement after receiving the court’s order: (Southern Coalition For Social Justice)

HERMAN CAIN FINALLY SAID WHAT EVERYONE HAS BEEN TOO AFRAID TO SAY! – Viral Feed Us

The Watch Dog response: I agree I am not a Slave! But as a black man and an effective community activist I can multi-task and work on tearing down statues and calling out ignant ass safe black folk. I will continue to work on tearing down statues and issues in the black community but not limited to as I have done since the late 80’s. Folk tickle the hell out of me saying ignant mess as if we can’t work on more than one issue at a time.

Former Presidential Candidate and CEO Herman Cain addressed his fellow African-Americans and advised them to stop wasting time on statues and instead focus on solving today’s real problems.

Here’s what he wrote:

“[…] I AM AN AFRICAN-AMERICAN. I HATE THE INSTITUTION OF SLAVERY AS MUCH AS BISHOP DUKES DOES. BUT I HAVE NOTICED SOMETHING HE SEEMS TO HAVE MISSED. I AM NOT A SLAVE! AND NEITHER IS HE.
SLAVERY WAS AN AWFUL HISTORICAL INJUSTICE, AND IT HELPED SET IN MOTION MANY OF THE PROBLEMS THE BLACK COMMUNITY FACES TODAY. BUT IT IS NOT THE PROBLEM WE NEED TO SOLVE TODAY. THOSE PROBLEMS ARE POVERTY, ILLITERACY, DRUGS, CRIME AND VIOLENCE.
TEARING DOWN STATUES DOESN’T SOLVE ANY OF THOSE PROBLEMS, AND SOLVING THOSE PROBLEMS IS WHAT WE NEED TO BE FOCUSED ON. (Viralfeedus)
