State and local authorities spent Friday afternoon investigating and cleaning up the largest meth lab found in North Carolina this year, tucked away in a barn in Macclesfield, said Edgecombe County Sheriff Clee Atkinson.
Richard Sasser, 62, and Ivory Sasser, 67, of N.C. 111 in Macclesfield, have been charged with manufacturing methamphetamine. More charges are on the way, Atkinson said.
“This is one of the largest labs I’ve ever seen,” Atkinson said. “You could easily see this wasn’t a small thing or a first-time operation.”
The lab is the biggest one found so far this year, according to SBI agents at the scene. (Read more)
