Gailliard appointed HD-25 Democratic nominee

(LOUISBURG, NORTH CAROLINA)—The North Carolina House District 25 Executive Committee appointed Nash County resident Rev James D. Gailliard as the Democratic nominee to replace Democrat Jim Lee, who recently withdrew from the race due to health problems.

“Rev Gailliard has a long history of service, and is committed to serving the residents of Franklin and Nash counties.  Although just getting into this race, he plans to run an intense campaign,” said Don Davis, chair of the House executive committee meeting.

Gailliard pastors the Word Tabernacle Church in Rocky Mount. His platform includes addressing economic development in eastern North Carolina, education and health care.

Democratic party leaders from Franklin and Nash counties assembled as a House executive committee to consider Lee’s replacement.

“It was a unanimous decision.  The executive committee believes Rev Gailliard is well-suited to run a formidable campaign, while addressing the issues impacting the residents of North Carolina,” Davis added.

Pursuant N.C. Gen. Stat. 163-14, a House executive committee convened for the purpose of appointing Lee’s replacement.  On Jul 1, the members of the North Carolina House District 25 Executive Committee voted unanimously to appoint Gailliard.

NC House District 25 is made up of roughly half of Nash and Franklin counties.

As the Democratic nominee, Gailliard will now prepare to face off against incumbent lawmaker NC Rep Jeff Collins, R-Nash, in the Nov 8 general election.
