New Administrative Positions in Higher Education for Five African Americans – The Journal Of Blacks In Higher Education

The Political Agitator’s response: Awesome! An Edgecombe County (Tarboro) native doing some great things in higher education. So many times we read about the locals who have made great strides in sports but Dr. Lawrence have and will touch more young folk lives than those playing sports.

Stevie L. Lawrence II was appointed executive director for retention services at Fort Valley State University in Georgia. He had been serving as director for college success in the Office of General Administration of the University of North Carolina System.

Dr. Lawrence is a graduate of North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro, where he majored in history. He holds a master of public administration degree from North Carolina Central University in Durham and a Ph.D. in urban higher education from Jackson State University in Mississippi.
