The Political Agitator response: Awesome message!
Denzel Washington is sure to turn some Hollywoodian heads after he told a graduating class at Dillard University in New Orleans, Louisiana to “Put God first in everything you do.”
Washington told the students “Everything that you think you see in me, everything that I’ve accomplished, everything you think that I have, and I have a few things… Everything that I have is by the grace of God,” He said as the audience applauded. “Understand that. It’s a gift.”
This is not the first time Washington has stood before a group of young people and told them to thank God for all of the good in their lives. In August of 2014, Denzel stood before a gathering of high school kids that were competing in an acting event and gave them advice on setting goals and achieving dreams. (Source: Read more)

George Zimmerman was involved in a shooting incident today in Lake Mary, Florida — and it involved a man he’d had a previous dust-up with just last year, police said.
Zimmerman flagged down an officer — saying someone shot at him and his car, said Bianca Gillet, a spokeswoman for the Lake Mary Police Department, at a news conference.
Zimmerman, 31, did not fire his weapon during the road rage incident, police said.

Zimmerman’s attorney, Don West, said Zimmerman was driving into a retail center when a car came up behind him, flashing its lights and honking. Zimmerman claimed the other driver yelled at him, West said.
When Zimmerman tried to leave, West said, the other driver pulled up and fired a shot through the passenger side window of Zimmerman’s truck. The bullet lodged somewhere in the car, West said. According to West, the other driver fled. (Source: Read more)

The N.F.L. gave New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady a four-game suspension on Monday, citing his role in the team’s illegal deflation of footballs. The league also fined New England $1 million and took away two draft picks, including a first-round choice in 2016, citing “conduct detrimental to the integrity of the N.F.L.”.
An N.F.L.-commissioned report that was released Wednesday concluded that it was “more probable than not” that Brady was at least generally aware of Patriots personnel deflating footballs to gain an advantage against the Indianapolis Colts in the A.F.C. championship game on Jan. 18.
The nearly four-month investigation, which was conducted by Theodore V. Wells Jr. and the law firm Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison, concluded it was probable that Patriots personnel were “involved in a deliberate effort to circumvent the rules.” (Source: Read more)

Editor’s note: Linda Ketner delivered this address at the Requiem on Racism held April 26 in Charleston, SC. The YWCA Greater Charleston sponsored the event to promote racial justice and raise awareness about the negative impact of institutional and structural racism.
I’m honored to be invited here to TALK this afternoon … but with rampant white privilege, black people have been listening to white people talk a too long time … so tonight I’d like to speak to the white people in the room. And because you are the white people who care enough to be at “Requiem on Racism,” I’m largely “preaching to the converted” but maybe there will be a new idea or action you can carry forward.
Now white people in this room are not personally to blame for the unprovoked murders of Michael Brown, Trayvon Martin, Walter Scott, Denzel Curnell, Fred Grey and hundreds of other African Americans. (Source: Read more)
