Obama Outperforms Reagan On Jobs, Growth And Investing – Forbes

Thank you Randy Voller Chair NC Democratic Party for sharing the following:

14 Facts About The Obama Presidency That Most People Don’t Know

People have many perceptions of how the US economy or the country as a whole is doing in recent years. Depending on your political views, you may think the country is doing exceptionally well or on the verge of collapse.

Listed below are 14 objective facts, without interjecting any opinion, about the state of America under the leadership of President Obama. Every statement is followed up with a link to a source where you can verify these facts for yourself.

1. We’ve now had 63 straight months of economic expansion. That’s right, for 63 consecutive months the US economy has gotten progressively better. That includes 54 consecutive months of private sector job growth. Forbes magazine, no fan of President Obama, crunched the numbers and demonstrated how the economic recovery under President Obama has been better in just about every measurable way than the recovery under President Reagan.

2. We are currently enjoying the longest period of private sector job creation in American history. Again, this statistic comes from the Forbes Magazine article listed above. In fact, we have now had 54 straight months of private sector job creation. That is the longest period of job creation since the Department of Labor has been keeping statistics. See the link below.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/…/obamas-claim-that-business…/

3. Unemployment has dropped from 10.1% in October of 2009 to 5.9% and projected to reach 5.4% by summer of 2015. Not only has the unemployment rate dropped significantly, but since the recession ended,
our economy as added over ten million new jobs. You can refer to the Forbes article above or check this article on Politics USA.

http://www.politicususa.com/2014/09/05/jobs-report.html

4. The stock market continues to set new records since President Obama has been in office. Since early
2009 there has been a steady trend in stock market growth. The Dow Jones Industrial averages reached an all-time high of 17,390 in October 31, 2014 . Since most Americans have 401(k) retirement investments in the stock market, this stock market growth benefits millions of middle class Americans.

5. The Federal budget deficit is shrinking. It’s been reduced by two-thirds since 2009. The $1.4 trillion federal budget deficit that Obama inherited in 2009 was in a large part due to the high rate of unemployment. When millions of people were put out of work in 2008 and 2009, it resulted in far less income taxes and less economic activity to generate federal revenue. As ten million people have been put back to work, there have been billions more tax dollars generated. As a result, the deficit has been shrinking each year. The 2014 deficit is projected to be around $500 billion, the smallest deficit since 2007 and roughly 1/3 of what it was in 2009.

6. Under President Obama, spending has increased only 1.4% annually, the lowest rate since Eisenhower was president. You may have heard critics say that President Obama is spending money wildly and running up our debt. According to this article from Forbes, Obama has increased spending by 1.4% annually, far less than President Reagan (8.7%) or George W. Bush (8.1%). In fact, Obama has increased spending less than any president since Eisenhower.

http://www.forbes.com/…/who-is-the-smallest-government-spe…/

7. For 95% of American taxpayers, income taxes are lower now than just about any time in the previous 50 years. After President Obama took office, thousands of Tea Party members all over the country held rallies protesting Obama’s tax increases. At that time, President Obama had actually passed several tax cuts to
stimulate the economy. Most of the Tea Partiers who were protesting had only seen their taxes decrease under Obama. Yet polls indicated that most Tea Party members wrongly believed their taxes had gone up.

In fact, the only people whose income taxes have gone up during Obama’s presidency are those making $400,000 per year or more. That’s less than 2% of the population. Today, for the vast majority of people, tax
rates are exactly where they were when Obama first took office or lower. The article below from the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities explains this in greater detail.

8. Our dependence on foreign oil has shrunk due to record domestic oil production and improved fuel efficiency standards. While some people claim that oil production has declined under President Obama, the truth is just the opposite. Oil production has reached record highs. The United States now produces so much oil that we export more oil and gasoline than we import.

http://www.indexmundi.com/g/g.aspx?c=us&v=88

9. At least 7 million more Americans now have health insurance than before. Depending on whose numbers you use, between 7 and 10 million Americans acquired health insurance due to the Affordable Care Act. Now that those 7 to 10 million Americans have insurance, the rest of us are no longer on the hook to pay for their health care when they get sick. This saves the American people billions of dollars in the long run.

http://www.nbcnews.com/…/obamacare-helped-10-million-get-in…

10. The Affordable Care Act has added years to the life of Medicare. The Medicare trust fund had been on course to run out of money by the end of 2016. But due to cost savings from the Affordable Care Act and lower healthcare expenses, Medicare’s trust fund is now stable until the year 2030 without cutting benefits.

http://online.wsj.com/…/medicare-social-security-headed-in-…

11. Since passage of the Affordable Care Act, we are seeing the slowest rate of increase in healthcare costs since 1960. Contrary to the predictions from Republicans, health care costs have increased at a much slower pace since the passage of the ACA.

http://www.whitehouse.gov/…/healthcostreport_final_noembarg…

12. We currently have fewer soldiers, sailors and airmen in war zones than any time in over 10 years. With the end of the Iraq war and the steady withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan, we have fewer people in war zones now than any time since 2002.

13. There have been zero successful attacks by al Qaeda on US soil since Obama became president. Despite Dick Cheney’s claim that if voters elect a Democrat as president, we’ll be “hit again and hit hard” by al Qaeda, we have actually been far safer from terrorist attacks on US soil in recent years than we were under the previous president. There have been several unsuccessful attacks against the US under both presidents, but under Obama, al Qaeda has been largely unsuccessful in striking the US on our home soil.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timeline_of_al-Qaeda_attacks

14. We now successfully catch and deport more illegal immigrants than ever before. Despite the publicity from busloads of children who illegally entered the country, the numbers prove that President Obama has deported more illegal immigrants than any other president.

http://www.politifact.com/…/has-barack-obama-deported-more…/

All of the facts stated above can be confirmed through multiple sources, yet most Americans are not aware of all of this positive news. I invite you to do your own research and check these facts for yourself.

Obama Outperforms Reagan On Jobs, Growth And Investing

Conventional wisdom is that President Obama has not created jobs, or grown the economy. But data shows he has outperformed President Reagan, and every…

forbes.com|By Adam Hartung

The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) today issued America’s latest jobs report covering August.  And it’s a disappointment.  The economy created an additional 142,000 jobs last month. After six consecutive months over 200,000, most pundits expected the string to continue, including ADP which just yesterday said 204,000 jobs were created in August.

One month variation does not change a trend

Even though the plus-200,000 monthly string was broken (unless revised upward at a future date,) unemployment did continue to decline and is now reported at only 6.1%.  Jobless claims were just over 300,000; lowest since 2007.  Despite the lower than expected August jobs number, America will create about 2.5 million new jobs in 2014.

And that is great news. (Source: Read more)

Howard Dean Rips Democrats: ‘You Cannot Win if You Are Afraid’ MEDIA ITE

The Political Agitator response: In response to Chris Telesca: Yep – it’s time to dump the OFA playbook and stop hiring all those nomadic consultants with no local grounding, and go back to the 50-state strategy that Howard Dean implemented in 2006.

Chris I understand what you are saying and you have been saying it for quite sometime. However I have no problem with what Obama did when he ran for President because I know what goes on in the black community during election time, the backstabbing, those who are in it for the money and don’t give a damn who win as long as they get paid. So when Obama had his own people set up in the counties across the states I was with him. Hell no I would not have given the local folks control over my campaign if I was running for an office, hell I wouldn’t do it in Edgecombe County and I live here.

However since Obama has been in office the state and local Democratic Parties ought to had put a plan in motion. Hell what plan was in place before Obama ran for President because I know as a fact we in Edgecombe County has been surviving by the grace of God because it was nothing that the damn party did. Hell a county where the Democratic Party that has no political forum, no political rallies no nothing but a damn meeting in January to talk about the meeting in March for the Precincts, county convention and district convention. No damn education for the citizens, no emails, no Facebook, no Twitter no nothing.

So to continue to blame it on the OFA, I blame it on the local party because they could do more.

The state party has been nothing but infighting for years and it started long before OFA.

Hell yeah I want to see the Democratic Party move forward but damn I have been saying that since I joined the party back in the late 80’s well started voting in the early 80’s but became active at the precinct and county level in the late 80’s. I have challenged the Democrats black and white in Edgecombe County.

I remember when the whites had the majority in the county Democratic Party Executive Committee and the blacks were fighting for the majority. Once the blacks got the majority they allowed 1 – 2 blacks to keep the party tore up so the county party has gone to hell. I serve as a precinct chair only so I can have a voice at the county meetings.

Howard Dean Rips Democrats: ‘You Cannot Win if You Are Afraid’

Former DNC chair Howard Dean criticized the Democrats (including but not limited to the DNC) on Meet the Press Sunday morning for not staying on message, or even crafting a message, in the run-up to last week’s severe midterm loss.

“The biggest problem was message,” Dean said. “Sure it was an off-year and we can make all these excuses. But even through the days of the fifty-state strategy and taking over the House, the Senate, and the White House in four years, I could never get the Washington Democrats to stay on message.” (Source: Read more)

How Can We Chastise Republicans When We Attempt To Shame Voters To The Polls? by George Fisher

It is time for the party to hold our leaders accountable for our election failure. Today, I sent Randolph S. Voller Chair of the NCDP a letter asking him to do his job, as painful as it may be because we owe it to the voters of North Carolina. How can they trust us when we shame voters to the polls?

We criticize Republicans over voter suppression, yet the First Vice Chair of the North Carolina Democratic Party sends out mailers, with her signature on them, in what amounts to voter intimidation.

Democratic leaders should be above this type of activity—when they are not the party must hold them accountable.  The only way to prove to voters that we do not tolerate voter manipulation from anyone, including ourselves is for the First Vice Chair, Patsy Keever to step down.

19Now, I call on Chairman Randy Voller to do his job.  Make the tough decisions and rid our party of these and other issuesDo it now, do it swiftly and do it completely at all levels of the party. Chairman Voller, act on this letter now and get it out of the way.  We have work to do.

Hon. Randolph S. Voller, Chair
North Carolina Democratic Party
220 Hillsborough Street
Raleigh, North Carolina 27603

November 9, 2014

Dear Chairman Voller:

The outcome of the November 2014 election was certainly not favorable to the North Carolina Democratic Party. But, more importantly, the outcome will not be favorable to the socioeconomically depressed citizens of this state.

Voters, who have no voice in our legislature, hold on to the hope that collectively the party can elect candidates who will fight the changes made by the Draconian NCGOP; issues of voter suppression, lack of Medicaid expansion, dismal teacher pay and the Racial Justice Act are just a few of the matters that were at stake in this election.

What distresses me and other concerned Democrats around the state is how can we address voter suppression when the First Vice Chair of the North Carolina Democratic Party engages in voter intimidation by signing mailers such as the ones documented at http://www.whothehellisgeorge.com ?

These mailers were inappropriate, misleading and smacks in the face of the very essence of what we stand for as a party. It’s embarrassing that we chastise the Republicans for voter suppression, when we engage in these voter intimidation techniques. How can voters trust us, when we can’t trust our Democratic leaders?

Therefore, I would ask that, because Patsy Keever, in her own accord and through her office and position as First Vice Chair of the North Carolina Democratic Party, did indeed sign the mailers that were sent to many registered North Carolina Democratic voters—resign her position immediately or at the first feasible opportunity, in an effort to bring dignity and trustworthiness of the party, back to the voters of this state.

I am asking you, as Chairman of the North Carolina Democratic Party, to address this letter and act accordingly to achieve this necessary outcome. All voters, not just Democrats, need to be able to feel comfortable that the party will not tolerate her actions; especially as we move forward into the 2016 cycle.

Thank you, in advance, for your time and attention to this matter.

Respectfully Yours,

George Fisher
Greenville, North Carolina

90 Pounds Of Cocaine Found On Cargo Ship Owned By Anti-Drug Senator’s Family

A cargo ship connected to Kentucky Senator Mitch McConnell was recently stopped and searched before departing from Colombia. During the search, Colombian Coast Guard agents seized roughly 90 pounds of cocaine.

The drugs were found on the Ping May, which is a vessel operated by the Foremost Maritime Corporation, a company owned by Mitch McConnell’s in-laws, the Chao family. This connection is not only relevant because of the family connection, but also because the Chao family has often made large donations to McConnell’s campaigns.

In fact, the Chao family has been funding McConnell since the late 1980s. Years later, in 1993, McConnell married Elaine Chao and secured the Chao family as one of his primary sources for investments.

A gift worth somewhere between 5 and 25 million dollars from the Chao Family made McConnel one of the richest senators in the country in 2008. (Source: Read more)

Obama says Lynch will carry on equal justice – AOL (President Obama Nominee For The Next Attorney General)

The Political Agitator response: I normally respond but I echo what Sheria Reid had to say about the following on her Facebook page.

I read this story about the President’s nominee for the next attorney general and felt proud. Loretta is female, black, and was born and raised in North Carolina.

I also read the comments on the story, not all of them, as there are more than 1700. There appears to be a prevailing theme as expressed in the following comments:

“rocadisa 11 hours ago
Why does Obama choses (sic) all his associates to be black . He does not trust white people? Talking about racism.”

Just another Black racist who will go after innocent “White” people for defending themselves against Black thugs. Folks, if you have to shoot one of those filthy animals, just bury their nasty ass in the woods. You’ll never get a fair trial and you will have the Liberal media and the Government trying to crucify you.”

Obama is half white and half muslim (sic). He is not an African American. African Americans are descendants from the slavery that was actually started by a black African.”

“tsapp10136 8 hours ago
I don’t know of any white person that would trust him. When you think of the country going down, I don’t know of any country or empire, through the history of time, that ever achieved greatness with a black leader and he’s loaded up the key positons (sic) with them. Third world mentality brings third world results.”

Sad that the election of a black president has revealed the extent to which racial hatred continues to permeate the United States. Sad that Obama’s election has also revealed how many Americans know nothing of the history of this country, particularly the history of racism and racial identity. Check out the one-drop rule if you also believe that Obama chose to identify as black because he hates white people.

Many of the racists don’t or won’t recognize their own racism. They choose to believe that it is black people who are racists. After all, the President has nominated another black person to serve as the U.S. Attorney General, that’s just plain racist. They ignore that most of his cabinet is white. They also ignore that if Lynch is confirmed she makes history as the first black woman to be the AG and only the second black person to be AG; Holder was the first, not exactly an overwhelming influx of black people.

Racism in the United States is and has always been about hate mixed with fear. No matter how abhorrent the crime committed by a white person, when is the last time that you heard that person labeled a thug? Yet an unarmed black teenager gets shot and the first thought among some white people is that he deserved to die because he was a thug. What exactly is a thug and why does anyone’s life deserve to be forfeited even if he has indeed acted in a criminal fashion? Suspected cop killer Eric Frein was on the run for 48 days, and on the FBI’s ten most wanted list. He was captured alive and no one bothered to label him a thug.

Black people can’t effectively challenge white racism. No matter what we say, those who are racists will shift the problem to imagined traits and behaviors of black people. White people have to call other white people on racism, Silence is acquiescence.

Obama says Lynch will carry on equal justice

WASHINGTON (AP) – President Barack Obama introduced his choice for attorney general Saturday as an accomplished prosecutor from New York City who will carry on a “fierce commitment to equal justice.”

Obama argued at a White House ceremony that it’s “pretty hard to be more qualified” for the job of attorney general than Brooklyn federal prosecutor Loretta Lynch.

“Loretta might be the only lawyer in America who battles mobsters and drug lords and terrorists, and still has the reputation for being a charming people person,” Obama said to laughter from those who packed the Roosevelt Room for the announcement. (Source: Read more)

Leaving The Democratic Party For Me Is Not The Answer

Leaving the Democratic Party for me is not the answer. It is all about the numbers! Registering as Unaffiliated you still have to choose from either the Republican or Democratic Parties. What people don’t understand is that since the Democratic Party has the numbers then black folks need to come together and form some kind of system where we come together and nominate 1 – 2 black strong candidates of our choosing to run for these seats on the local, state and national levels. I remember when we took over the Edgecombe County Democratic Party majority we had to fight and now that we got it, what are we doing to educate black folks? Absolutely nothing but we have survived by the Grace of God but what about other counties? I don’t understand how anyone black, white, Republican or Democrat could vote for the Republican Agenda because we all are going to suffer. I am The Political Agitator
