Are you going in the hood?
Are you reaching out to the boys that need help or are you reaching out to the boys that don’t really need help?
You say all of these pretty words but what are you really doing?
Do you attend any meetings in your community that really makes a difference such as school board, town government and etc.?
Have you identified atleast one or 2 boys that you are there for because you know they don’t have a daddy at home and/or a male positive figure in their life?
Do you go to school events sports and etc. to support the boys?
In Edgecombe County I see who are doing what so I already know. If you live in surrounding counties I don’t know for sure what you are doing but I do believe if you are doing something other than just talking, then I would know about it.
You don’t have to answer to me but just know that when you post stuff, I may just ask you so what are you really doing.
A bunch of men are talking about they are doing this and doing that but they are doing what is comfortable and not what some call controversial. If folks ain’t talking about what you are doing negatively that means you ain’t doing something positive. In my opinion when you are doing something positive the naysayers will talk about you so who talking about you?
Now Run and Tell That!
About 2 years ago this brother that I have not seen in several years that I met through the NAACP back in the 90’s sent me a check for $200.00 and I was in tears. It was at a point when I needed some cash because 2 years ago my daughter was still in college. This past week the brother sent me a check for $75.00 and I haven’t seen the brother yet. The check this week had the following written in the memo: “Keep The Power!” Again this check was right on time because I was on the way to Durham to NAACP Moral Monday and it took me $45.00 to gas up and another $30.00 for me, my wife, my son and nephew to eat. These donations help as I sacrifice spending my money, time and wear and tear on my vehicle as traveled to Durham to the Moral Monday but since Monday I have been to Durham 2 more times for a total of 3 times this week. I posted the video and the photos of the Moral Monday on my blog so others could see such a powerful message by Rev. Dr. William J. Barber II NAACP NC State President/National Board Member and one of the most sought after powerful black men in these United States that is traveling around the world speaking truth to power.
Last month a couple sent me a $25.00 donation and however they send $25.00 – $50.00 donations over a period of time. These types of donations help with purchasing DVD’s which cost around $25.00 – $30.00 for a 100 pack when they are on sale.
I just want to say thank you to my supporters especially my brother whom I have an address for but not a phone number. Come to think about it, I videoed his daughter’s wedding years ago and I didn’t charge him much of anything because we were warriors in the NAACP brothers working together so I really didn’t charge him.
I have given much over the years speaking out for justice fighting for other folks children long before I had any children so I felt that over the years I didn’t charge folks for things or if I did it was a little of nothing, asking for a donation over the years was actually something that they ought to be glad to do because most folks I have done things for them in the past.
Folks when you come on my page talking about I am begging for money you better better not leave no ignant comments cause you just may get cussed out because I know what I have done and continue to do.
Again thank you to those who have donated over the years because there has been several others as well and for those who haven’t as well because God has been good to me. Yes I have to struggle some times because I have a family and I sacrifice doing things when I ought to be just doing things for my family. I won’t raised that way, I was raised to help other folks. I will continue to do things to help others because I know that if we would help somebody along the way that the world would be a better place and our living will not have been in vain.
