Joel Killion resigned as board secretary of the Wilson County Board of Elections Monday at the request of the Wilson County Republican Party.
His resignation follows a decision last week to change his voter registration from Republican to unaffiliated.
"It is with regret that I tender my resignation from the Wilson County Board of Elections as secretary, effective July 15, per the request of the Wilson County Republican Party,” Killion wrote. "I am grateful for having had the opportunity to serve on the board and offer my best wishes for its continued success.”
Killion emailed his resignation letter to Rena Morris, director of the Wilson County Board of Elections, and the letter will be sent to the N.C. Board of Elections. Morris is on vacation, but state election officials are expecting the letter, said Joshua Lawson, N.C. Board of Elections spokesman. (Source: Read more)
