Exclusive: Dashcam video clears NJ man

Response: Damn a black man has a hard way to go.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ (WABC) — The tale of the police dashcam video has now helped clear a Bloomfield, New Jersey man who faced a multitude of criminal charges, including eluding police and assault.

Investigative Reporter Sarah Wallace obtained the dashcam tapes, and has spoken exclusively with the 30-year old DJ who was looking at years in prison.

It was quite a turnabout, all the criminal charges against Marcus Jeter have been dismissed, and two Bloomfield police officers have been indicted for falsifying reports, and one of them, for assault.

A third pleaded guilty early on to tampering. It’s all thanks to those dashcam tapes. It’s the video that prosecutors say they never saw when the pursued criminal charges against 30 year-old Marcus Jeter . In the video, his hands were in the air. He was charged with eluding police, resisting arrest and assault. One officer in the video can be seen throwing repeated punches. (Source: Read more)

There Was No One Left To Speak For Me

First they came for the communists, and I did not speak out–
    because I was not a communist;
Then they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out–
    because I was not a socialist;
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out–
    because I was not a trade unionist;
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out–
    because I was not a Jew;
Then they came for me–
    and there was no one left to speak out for me.

Those of you who attended the Prayer Vigil, Youth Forum, Now a Youth Prayer Walk, so what did you leave with?

You better wake the hell up. Ya’ll round here talking bout I am writing Open Letters. Hell yeah! To all the white folks who label me a racist and all of the black folks who label me a militant, well you can’t say I only challenge one race. But frankly I don’t give a damn what you say. I am going to do me. This is just a reminder.

So who are the Racist White Folks and Safe Negroes going after? Damn unless you are living in another zone, you ought to know. Who’s name do you hear daily on the local Rocky Mount TV Station WHIG-TV, hear on the local Rocky Mount Radio Station Spotlight on the Community FM 99.3 and see in the Rocky Mount Telegram and hear folks talking about daily?

GREENVILLE, N.C. — With every stomp, step and clap, young men are transforming their lives and hyping up younger generations to exceed expectations and be positive forces in their community.

That’s what Willie Joyner had in mind when he started a step team called HYPE — Helping Yourself with Pride through Education.

It was 1995 and Joyner was in his first year of teaching at Enfield Middle School in Halifax County. The boys in the rural community needed motivation, he said. (Source: Read more)

Open Letter to John Henderson Staff Reporter Rocky Mount Telegram Concerning Andre Knight And The March Yesterday

I find your article, “Rocky Mount groups call for end to violence” quite interesting because one again unnecessary attention is being focused toward Andre Knight, Mayor Pro-tem Rocky Mount City Council, President Rocky Mount NAACP and yes he is a minister.

I didn’t know that that side of Rocky Mount was considered South Rocky Mount, thought that was on the Nash side.

So John how did you come to that conclusion Rev. Andre Knight was dressed as a minister but you didn’t put Rev. in front of his name? But do you always reference folks who wear a white collar as a minister and if you do, do you specify it like you did Knight in this article? Since you say dressed as a minister, wouldn’t that leave the impression that he is not a minister for those who do not know that he is a minister since you didn’t specify he is. Just my ignant questions for today.

Dang! Talk about Knight but didn’t show a picture of him in his minister outfit since you mentioned how he was dressed. SMDH!

So are you saying Knight was speaking from a minister’s standpoint on yesterday. Better yet, just what in the hell were you trying to say? Who was the message about his attire for, Ignant Racist Ass White Folks and/or Ignant Racist Ass Safe Negroes?

It is a damn shame folks pay to read the paper and allow them to single out our black leaders in code fashions. You see some folks will read this article and will not get the same message that I got. However I know I ain’t the only one that got the message because I received a call from someone telling me about it before I read it. isecr

By the way John no need to respond. I have come to the conclusion that this mentality trying to discredit Knight is systematic and “they” think it is okay since other black leaders and grassroots folks ain’t saying anything when these types of articles. So this is why I am going to educate others on what is really going on whether they like it or not. I will not leave it up to the local media, IRWFs and IRSNs to define my leaders. I refuse to allow the local media, IRWFs and IRSNs to put those who they want to be my leader in the spotlight while these leaders are playing it safe and helping their cause.

What is the damn difference in black on black murder and the media and some blacks trying to discredit the real leaders that they are trying silence. Hell is one is silent on the issues then they may as well be dead also. I refuse to be silent.

So John if you want to help the cause, please just report the necessary and leave the unnecessary out and just continue the conversation among those whose sole mission is discredit Rev. Andre Knight a citizen first, minister 2nd, Rocky Mount Councilman 3rd and President of the Rocky Mount NAACP 4th.

In re:

Andre Knight, a Rocky Mount councilman who also is the head of the local National Association for the Advancement of Colored People chapter, made a speech and prayer as the group stopped at the corner of Park Avenue and Highland Avenue.

Dressed as a minister with a white collar, Knight said the focus of the debate on gun violence needs to shift to the root of the problem.

He repeatedly led the crowd into chants of “No justice. No peace.”

Open Letter to Attorney William Solomon Chair Edgecombe County Democratic Party

I am disappointed in your leadership as the Democratic Party Chair. I supported you several years ago when you became the Young Democrats President of the Edgecombe County Democratic Party. Andre Knight and myself reached out to you and said we would work with you however you did nothing the whole time you held the position. On last year I voted for you over Rev. Roosevelt Higgs, one because you are younger than I and I am younger than Higgs. I was hoping you were going to do something to bring some young folks on board and to bring us up to the 21st Century by communicating with us via technology.

You know I have been bringing up about the lack of communication and not receiving information per internet while the Edgecombe County Democratic Party is not in session. The party should be keeping local Dems abreast of what is going on. You have received our email addresses but no information about what is going on in the political atmosphere.

Since your tenure as the DPC you have not been effective. It appears you didn’t allow the secretary to do her job and for that reason she has resigned. Several folks on the county executive committee says they have not received anything from you since you have been the chair. Well actually they should hear from you via the secretary as it relates to meetings. I could tell the secretary was not doing the mailings because I continue to get another precinct chair’s mailings that you and your law firm office sends out as it relates to the party meetings. I have had to deliver 2 letters to this precinct chair because on the envelope with his name on it, it has my address on it. However the previous chair did the same.

Over the past year there has been much going as it relates to politics and much to report on as it relates to bills in the NC General Legislature things that the NC Republican Party is doing that seems to be taking us back instead of forward.

I understand the secretary Viola Harris tendered her resignation almost 30 days ago and you have not scheduled a meeting to replace her.

You knew Shelly Willingham was going to resign from the Edgecombe County Board of Elections Office so that he could file to run for the House 23 seat currently held by Rep. Joe Pat Tolson.

You have received the information from the NC State Democratic Party to pass on to the Precinct Chairs so they can have their meetings.

You have a full agenda for a meeting so I don’t understand why you haven’t called a meeting. The meeting you held in January was a waste of time because we have always met in the beginning of the year after the State Executive Committee (SEC) meets and the precinct packages are prepared.

Mr. Chair you need to call a meeting and/or resign your post because obviously you either don’t have time or don’t care about the Edgecombe County Democratic Party.

Sincerely yours,

Curmilus Dancy II
