Response: This is a damn good report by this Calvin Adkins highlighting some great points to let you know just how ignant Mayor Priscilla Everette-Oates is. I thought she was ignant but this confirms that something has gone wrong since she has been in office this term. It is clear that she needs help. Although I have followed (videoed) the meetings faithfully since she has been in office, after reading the 31 page report I am trying to figure out why would one use a credit card that is traceable unless they just didn’t know or they just didn’t care that every transaction is documented with the time, place card used and the amount. The lawyer had stopped attending the meetings so I see why because he was not getting reimbursed for travel expense. Mayor Everette-Oates used to talk about the former Mayor Delia Perkins just about every meeting when she first took office so therefore she must have known she was going to get ignant and try to blame the town’s financial problems on the former mayor. But the Mayor Everette-Oates didn’t realize that she is making the former mayor look good since she has been trying to discredit her, Commissioners Ann Howell and Gwendolyn Knight who served under Mayor Perkins leadership. Oh when she read this, this is going to piss her off because she can not stand the sound of former Mayor Delia Perkins. Damn I am having a flashback when Mayor Everette-Oates looked a my camera at a meeting not long ago and said that she was speaking to me for the record. Well I am going to see will she make it to the April regular monthly meeting and talk to me because I have some questions for her after meeting.
PRINCEVILLE — The grey cloud that has hung over the town since the Local Government Commission took over its finances July 30, became even darker Monday after the state auditor released an investigative financial report detailing possible misuse of funds by town officials.
The finding points out that Mayor Priscilla Everette-Oates and former finance officer made questionable credit card purchases totaling more than $10,000 without providing receipts or documenting the business purpose at the time of the expenditure. (More)
RALEIGH, N.C. — The mayor and former finance officer of Princeville, one of the first U.S. communities established by freed slaves, charged more than $11,000 over a two-year period at restaurants, hotels and even a bath store without receipts justifying the public spending, North Carolina’s financial watchdog reported Monday.
Investigators also discovered questionable travel reimbursements and contracts involving Princeville Mayor Priscilla Everette-Oates and other town officials. State Auditor Beth Woods’ office said it is reporting its findings to state prosecutors, criminal investigators, and state and federal tax agencies to see whether they think further action is needed.
