Fire siren’s meaning changes for Whitaker – Daily Southerner

Response: Been know Billy since the early 80’s and he has always been a very nice person. I was happy when Billy became Chief and I was happy when he was able to retire. I am happy for anyone who can retire at such a early age and be able to enjoy life.

TARBORO — From now on, Chief William "Billy" Whitaker will take a different approach to the sound of a fire siren piercing the air and indicating the possibility of a fire.

Because of his July 30 retirement, he will no longer have to don his gear and rush to the scene as he had done for 28 years with the Tarboro fire department. (More)

Ignant Column: A Black Pastor Dr. Patrick Wooden Telling Black Folks Not To Vote For President Barack Obama! Well!

"Ignorance will never end. Even those with money can’t buy SENSE!!" Author: Curmilus Dancy II The Political Agitator

Before I get started you needs to know: “I have no permanent friends no permanent enemies only permanent interest!”

This is in response to someone who responded about the black Preacher who is running an ad telling black folks not to vote for President Barack Obama. The person said, "If Rev. Al Sharpton can tell you to vote for Obama because of his view on taxes, healthcare, rich people, etc…,in all fairness, any pastor should be able to tell you not to vote for Obama because of his views! You know what tickles the hell out of me is that black folks who say that other black folks think that "our" President is the best thing that has ever happened."

I don’t tell people who to vote for unless I am working on their campaign so if that is not the case I just tell people who I am going to vote for and why and let others decide for themselves who they want to vote for.

I disagree because everything you named above that are Rev. Al Sharpton’s views can not be compared to one damn issue same sex marriage. Rev. Al’s views are something that all folks black, brown, white and other can relate to and is a good thing.

The ignant Pastor we are discussing is telling folks not to vote for "our" President because of one damn issue. One that does not affect me in any kind of way. So therefore this is no comparison to all of the above.

I get so sick and tired of folks who ought to know better, somewhat politically engaged but preach ignant mess be they are a Pastor or just a regular person.

Damn what options are the Pastor that we are discussing giving the people by telling them not to vote for Obama? Hell if he wants a REPUBLICAN PRESIDENT then he ought to be telling folks just how damn good the ignant a… REPUBLICAN candidates for President and Vice President are.

Well damn we have always heard that a black man can be President so now he is however anybody, I repeat anybody who thought that when the time came that a black President would have it easy is just as ignant as this Pastor.

He has had to fight the good ole boys within both parties because some folks are not ever going to accept a black man being in charge and the highest office in the land. Damn!

Hell most black folks in their right minds know that a black man/woman being in charge is not well accepted by other folks and not even jealous ignant black folks.

Okay hell yeah I support "our" President. I have not heard anyone say how "our" President has affected their lives since he has been in office especially black folks. They say he has not done anything for black folks. Well damn what do you want him to do?

Commission looks to correct Princeville’s financial woes

The N.C. Local Government Commission has taken a number of steps to help assess and correct Princeville’s financial woes since impounding the town’s books and records last month.

Those steps have included working to develop a budget for the 2012-13 fiscal year, working to enforce the town’s utility cutoff policy and helping customers establish payment plans for past due balances, according to Heather Strickland, director of communications for the N.C. Department of State Treasurer. (More)

Princeville NC – Sources Say LGC Held A Budget Meeting On Thursday August 31, 2012 And Approved A Budget For Princeville

Sources say LGC held a budget meeting and passed a budget for the town of Princeville. I understand the only thing that will increase will be trash pick up.

I understand that Interim Maggie Boyd turned the town car back in and has been driving her car to the office the past couple of days.

Daisy Staton said at the Monday night’s meeting that she would not be working for Princeville that she will be out with her daughter who will be undergoing medical treatment. However sources say that she is being forced out.

Sources say that LGC will be suspending all of the town hall employees except one person.

Sources also believe that this thing with the finances is getting ready to get real ugly.

Sources also says that something may be going on as it relates to one of the Commissioner’s personal business.

Well it appears the lies are beginning to catch up with the Princeville 3. Guess who they are? They are the ones who vote for everything that is voted on during the meetings.

Folks It Is About What You Can Do For The Least Of These!

I have never wanted for anything in all of my 49 years because my family was good to me because I started working at 5 years old as we farmed but both of my parents also worked public jobs. And then I have been working a public job since I graduated from high school in 1981. I have been working on my current job for 25 years and make damn good money.

I got active in the Democratic Party, the NAACP and other organizations not because I was hurting but to help make Edgecombe County but not limited to a better place to live work and play.

So folks when it comes to politics I don’t play. Politics is about people making choices for folks and I care about what choices folks are making because it affects my family and me along with others.
