Edgecombe County Public Schools: Leadership Academy helping participants develop vision for schools – Daily Southerner


Response: The Leadership Academy began on Tuesday and will end today. The Leadership Academy has ran from 8:30 am to 4:00 PM Tuesday – Thursday and will run from 8:30 am – 1:30 PM today. The agenda has included included building a new District Vision and Mission Statements, a new District Strategic Plan and new School Improvement Plans. Each school will be represented by 5 teachers, 2 administrators, a parent and a student.

TARBORO — A Leadership Academy this week at Pattillo Elementary School brings together 150 school administrators, teachers, parents and students for the goal of creating a new mission and vision for Edgecombe County’s public schools.

“Our No. 1 job is to raise student achievement, so that’s at the heart of what we’re trying to do in these plans,” said ECPS Supt. John Farrelly. Student achievement is the first initiative of the Leadership Academy; others are continuous improvement and building leadership capacity. (More)
