Rocky Mount Prep lets at least 20 teachers go, adds 500 computers – Rocky Mount Telegram

Response: This is quite interesting. I am wondering if this is going to be the norm for charter schools? Someone who are familiar with this or have children in this school I would love to hear your input about this.

I remember when the school was founded and I truly believe it was created for the white children but if I am correct it is almost 90% black.

Rocky Mount Telegram: Rocky Mount Preparatory School definitely will not look the same this coming fall, but whether or not the charter school is better off depends on who is asked.

Several fundamental, sweeping changes – approved this month by the Rocky Mount Preparatory School Board of Directors – will impact students during the 2012-13 school year, including the laying off of more than 20 teachers, the addition of 500 new computers, more uniformity in uniforms and longer school days Monday through Thursday. Happy Father’s Day To My Dad Curmilus Dancy Sr. (Mill) A Good Man, He Taught Me Good Work Ethics

My dad is a good man to me. I am speaking for me.

He has been a good man all the days of my life dating back as long as I can remember.

My dad worked on his public job for 44 years however during that same time he rented out a farm for over 20 some years and then after that we rented my granddad and 2 of my great uncle’s farms. This year is the first year we didn’t work the farms because we just don’t have the equipment to plant a variety of things. We had been planting the 3 farms in soybeans for several years and now it was time to plant something else in order to make a good crop.

Several of the years of renting out the farm I worked the farm during the day while my dad worked 1st shift and I was on 2nd. I worked the tobacco getting it out of the field and taking it to the market and went to work at night. I also worked part-time at the Zip Mart.

My dad also taught me how to cook on the grill because he and some guys used to cook pigs and chickens at the farm all the time and then he and I used to cook pigs and chickens for others especially during Christmas and funerals. My mom taught me how to make my famous barbecue sauce.

My dad used to let me do just about anything I wanted to do.

My dad used to let me sit in his lap and drive when I was around 5 years old. I got my first little mini bike when I was 5 years old and a motorcycle when I was around 12 years old. When I got my driver’s license in 1978 he purchased me a 1977 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. My dad always told me if I did good in school and stayed out of trouble he would give me just about anything I wanted.

And another thing my dad taught me to treat others like I wanted to be treated. He also taught me to help other folks because although he can’t walk like he used to he just talked about planting a garden and if he didn’t get out there to pick it that somebody would come and pick themselves some. He normally pick the stuff, shell the beans many times and then give them away.

Now since that I have children and married my dad treat my children just like he did me. My dad give my children things just like he did me or should I say I he do me now because he still continues to be there for me today.

Happy Father’s Day to my dad.
