RALEIGH — Wake County school officials are willing to go only so far to keep individual schools from having too many struggling students – especially when steps in that direction might conflict with providing families schools closer to where they live. (Read more)

  1. At least the Wake County school board is finally giving the people most directly concerned, the parents, a voice in the changes to the school assignments. It’s a darn shame it took nationally televised news, protests and a federal lawsuit to get them to that point. Compliments to new school superintendant Tata for reaching a compromise that seems acceptable to both the community and the die-hards on the school board. I sincerely pray all parties will consider the best interests of the children involved: they are more important than any political stance!
