Attorney Teresa Deloatch Bryant resigned her post on February 14, 2011 via a hand delivered letter to Evelyn Wilson Chair Edgecombe County Public Schools Board of Education during the board’s monthly meeting.
The letter reads as follows: Due to personal/career commitments and conflicts, I am writing to inform you of my resignation from the Board effective June 14, 2011. It has truly been an honor to serve and although my role as a board member will soon come to an end, I still intend to be an active supporter of the Edgecombe County Public School System. Sincerely Teresa Deloatch Bryant.
Now you have it, from the words of Attorney Bryant. I received the information earlier today but after work I had to go to Durham to pick up my daughter. So now I am sharing the above with you.
I have not attended a school board meeting this entire school year. I had planned on beginning the year attending the meetings however I videoed middle school basketball games on Mondays. I was going to attend the February 14the meeting but I had videoed my uncle’s wife funeral on Sunday so I delivered the video on Monday and spent the evening with him.
There are several issues going on in the system such as the Principal at SouthWest Edgecombe being suspended due to a testing probe, a teacher resigned her post and another person was suspended but I think he is back at the school. The principal is still being investigated.
The new Superintendent was hired at the end of the 2009-10 school year and I read in the paper a couple of weeks ago that we have the Superintendent that was hired temporarily until the hired Superintendent came on board has been re-hired as a consultant to the new Superintendent.
So what is really going on in our Edgecombe County Public Schools System?
Anyone interested in serving on the board in District 2 then now is the time. The board will appoint someone to replace Attorney Bryant when the seat actually becomes vacant.
Attorney Teresa Bryant has resigned her post effective June 14, 2011. Attorney Bryant resigned Monday night at the school board meeting. Evelyn Wilson Chairperson read the letter of resignation at the close of the meeting.
Stay tuned for more information coming soon.
