Butch, I love you brother, so please, let me give you some brotherly advice. Don’t use the word "I" so damn much when you write. Unless, of course, you have some valid reason to do that. Is it you that you want the reader to focus on, or is the truth within the story? Don’t make anyone ask this question? Bring your shit and bring it correct! My brother.
Note: First of all thank you my brother for sending this to me in my inbox. You damn right I have a valid reason for saying “I” and “I” will continue to say “I” simply because I know what I have done. You see “I” have been speaking what others were saying and say in the backroom now and “I” get the credit for it because “I” said it where it needed to be said. “I” have taken a lot of heat because so many scared ass black folks talk a good game but don’t have the balls to say it publicly.
You know what have tickled the hell out of me is the old saying is don’t talk about what you have done. Well “I” used to agree with that but if “I” don’t tell my story who in the hell is going to tell it. Oh hell no, black folks love to go to your funeral and talk about what you have done after you have died.
Well “I” have promoted folks whom “I” have believed in since the 90’s and “I” have not gained a damn thing from it. “I” have helped many get appointed and elected from local elections to elections in organizations such as the NAACP and other. I have been a voice in the workforce other areas that felt they were discriminated and etc. “I” have challenged Edgecombe County Public Schools dating back long before “I” had a child in the system as “I” have helped folks who have had problems within the school system.
“I” could go on because “I” have done my homework over the years. “I” have spent countless hours doing things sacrificing my family and spending my own money.
So my friend you damn right “I” have a valid reason for saying “I”. Simply because many ungreatful and Safe Negroes have benefitted from what “I” have done. “I” have never wanted for anything and have never really had any personal issues that “I” couldn’t basically deal with on my own however some others were at the table as resources.
“I” used to tell the powers that be they needed to recognize folks before they die and they still do not. Why? Greed and damn ignance.
“I” will leave one of my most favorite videos with you by a person whom “I” used to didn’t care for but over the years he has changed and he is one of my favorite people. Some people used to call me Rev. Al and “I” used to tell them “not” because he didn’t do his homework. Well now he is the man and “I” watch this video that “I” had the privilege of recording him back in 2005 in Greensboro NC. The message was “If You Are Scared, Say You Are Scared Rev. Al Sharpton Greensboro NC – October 11, 2005.” But “I” changed it to “If You Are Scared, Shut Up and Get The Hell Out of The Way!!”
In my conclusion, how many times have you been on the battlefield with me?
And you know my saying when it comes to people, “I Love You And It Ain’t Nothing You Can Do About It.” That is for all people even those who have a problem with me but you see it has never been about them but about “HIM.” Yep you know who he is.
One last thing, folks used to criticize my writings. Hell “I” used to be about half sleep writing or in a hurry because “I” work a real job and doing many things such as working a real job, going to meetings getting home late at night and other. But you see that let me know they were reading my stuff. Yep, “I” try to keep the criticizers in mind but “I” believe in all of my writings they have gotten the message. May not be good grammar but it is the gospel truth.
Love you my friend and thank you for giving me something else to write about. C. Dancy II – DCN Publisher
