I am pissed that I have not received a response from G.W. Carver Elementary School in Pinetops in reference to a child eating another child’s vomit. I sent a letter to Mr. William (Dino) Ellis principal and I cc’ed it to Dr. Craig Witherspoon Edgecombe County Public Schools Superintendent and Mrs. Evelyn Wilson Chair Edgecombe County Public Schools Board of Education. I also have not received a response from either of them.
I have talked to several folks who are aware of this situation and also the parent of said child who ate the vomit. The parent was not told about the child eating the vomit until he went to the school to ask about it. The parent has been trying to get the child removed from this classroom all school year and has taken his complaint to the school board and they sent him back to the principal.
Sources tell me today that an investigation is in process however I understand that the school is trying to cover up the story so I can’t wait until they respond to this serious and dangerous matter.
I am pissed because I know that if this had been a black teacher and a white child whom ate the vomit, all hell would have broke loose.
The problem here is that policies and procedures were not followed when this incident occurred and the family was not notified. The school can put whatever spin on it they like however they did not follow procedures and also another factor is the parent has been trying to get the child moved out of this class.
I am waiting patiently for the response from Mr. William (Dino) Ellis principal, Dr. Craig Witherspoon Superintendent and Mrs. Evelyn Wilson Board Chair. However I know that Diane LeFiles Edgecombe County Public Schools Communications Spokesperson will probably do a response. I just hope they come correct.
I know the mentality of the school and I know the history so I stand behind my words 100%. Yes I am pointing out the racial aspect of this issue and if anyone has a problem with it, then so be it.
Stay tuned as The DCN will be following this serious matter very closely.
