What a damn shame Jackie Wiggins president of PROMM was shot by her boyfriend on last night. She is in Pitt Memorial and sources say she is stable. Unfortunately the boyfriend is deceased. See the Rocky Mount E-Police report.

Shooting / Suicide / Domestic Violence
109 Stewart Ct.
Victim: Jackie Wiggins, age 59
Suspect: Marshall Fleming, age 63
Officers responded to a shooting at 109 Stewart Court. Upon officers’ arrival, they located victim, Jackie Wiggins, outside the residence with gunshot wounds to the neck and elbow. While outside with Wiggins, officers heard additional shots fired inside 109 Stewart Court. Fleming was located inside the residence with an apparent self inflicted gunshot wound to the upper body. Jackie Wiggins was transported to Nash General Hospital and then to Pitt Memorial Hospital. Wiggins is currently listed in stable condition. Fleming was pronounced deceased at the scene. Fleming and Wiggins were in a dating relationship. Evidence Technicians responded and processed the crime scene.

N. Raleigh St. and US 64
Suspect: Shunquitta Chonita Conyer, age 26
During a vehicle stop, Conyer was charged with possession of marijuana, driving while license revoked and was served with four outstanding warrants. She was transported to Edgecombe County Jail under a $9,500 bond.

Note: Now the verdict is out why the Sheriff Department had several escapes. Reason: inexperience detention officers. Many detention officers and deputies have moved on after working for a couple of years in Edgecombe County. Once they get some experience they can go to another county and make a couple of thousands more.
