Recently I received 2 invitations to attend events in the twin counties. One of the events are looking for a donation and the others there is no donations involved but asked that I bring my camera. I am quite sure the other invitation hope that I would attend and bring my camera also because they know I normally video everywhere I go.
I have been videoing capturing history of Edgecombe County especially since the early 90’s and doing it out of my pocket. I have recorded many things and didn’t charge a dime however you would thought they would give a donation but not.
I don’t know of anyone who can come close to capturing history over the years on video (VHS) however I wish I had all of the recordings on DVD because I have videos at 2 aunts house and some got messed up due to the lack of storage. DVD’s are so much easier to file.
But back to my point. I used to try to be everywhere all the time and have tried to figure out how I could be in more than one place at the same time. I have even paid to go to events, videoed them and gave them a copy of it. I used to take off work using my vacation time going places capturing people and events and several years ago I began taking digital pictures.
I have always been independent and never liked asking anyone for anything. I always said that one day if I needed someone I feel that I could go to these folks. My daughter asked me when she was about to graduate from high school a couple of months ago to send all of my friends an invitation to her graduation because she know how much I have given of my time helping others. I didn’t want to do it but she kept asking me did I send out invitations. I sent out the invite over the internet so I could show her the format that I used.
I have hundreds of DVD’s not counting the old VHS videos and thousands of digital pictures on several SD Cards which are in my Kodak Gallery online and I have 90 plus albums on my Facebook page.
I want to thank all of my supporters who send me donations and/or give me a donation to video for them.
So folks it is not business as usual anymore. I will not be trying to attend everything and will be picking and choosing where I go, what I video and take pictures of. I will not continue to promote folks who don’t give a damn about civil rights but about themselves.

Last night I watched our President of these United States as he addressed the Congress about health care and I was totally shocked by what I was seeing. I seen all of the shouting from the audience, signs being displayed and the boos and other noises in protest of the health care reform bill as it was being presented.
These racist Republicans were very disrespectful. I don’t have a problem with these jokers disagreeing with the bill however I have a serious problem with them disrespecting our President. This was very unprofessional.
Those who protested against our President addressing our children on Tuesday ought to be speaking out about South Carolina Congressman Joe Wilson outburst and some of his fellow congressmen actions. Wilson and his colleagues sent a message to the children how they can be disrespectful to those in high places. Somebody said to me today that Wilson had a flashback from years ago when he first started.
What would happen if a child did these things in the classroom? You already know.
The actions on last night reminded me of the health care reform meeting in Rocky Mount last month hosted by Congressman G. K. Butterfield when similar actions took place. I feel strongly that if black folks were showing up and showing out like these folks have done, we would have seen them being hauled off to the the nearest police station. Hell not many years ago they would have been beaten, dogs turned on them and etc.
I really enjoyed our President’s speech but I just wish he had took action last night on something he said last night. He said that he would be calling out those who continues to tell lies about the bill. Well Mr. President when Wilson said, “You lie” last night, you should have asked him to stand up so the world could have gotten a good look at him. Oh yeah everybody seen him today however making sure they seen him last night would have left a better impression of him.
See the President’s entire speech on health care reform Wednesday, September 9, 2009.

C. Dancy II – DCN Publisher: Damn last night it was the racist white guy from South Carolina who called our President of these United States a liar on national tv during the President’s address.
And today I received the following:
Associations of black people with monkeys and apes have been used for centuries to make them seem less-than-human and justify hatred and exploitation. This associations continue to be propagated (e,g., here, here, and here). This week Costco pulled the black “Lil’ Monkey” baby doll from its shelves, along with its white “Pretty Panda” counterpart, as a result of protests that it was racist. So what’s next?
