Congratulations Cougars what a victory!!
Just when it looked like it was all over the BOOM Squad said we lost one our own due to an injury but we will win this game. Kenneth Dupree was taken off the field by the ambulance but he was released from the hospital later last night. He is doing fine.
Folks were beginning to leave with around 1 minute to go in the game because Hunt was leading 16 – 15 and they had the ball. The SWE Jayvees were asking the folks where were they going because the game was not over. They said the game is not over until you see 00 on the clock. They were dead serious. It was so funny how folks were turning around going back to their seats when we got the ball.
Now see what The Wilson Daily Times had to say about how we won the game.
Cougars stun Hunt with trick play
“Arguably, the Warriors were one play from running out the clock when SouthWest senior defender Quandre Pittman stripped the football from the Hunt ball-carrier. The football popped several feet into the air and was cradled by Cougars’ senior John Stone at his 42-yard line.
Three plays later, Hopkins fielded the pitch from Epps — who headed down the left sideline. Uncovered, Epps caught the football in full stride from Hopkins. From there, Epps zig-zagged numerous times, avoiding a horde of Hunt defenders and winding seemingly 100 yards to complete the 59-yard journey to euphoria.
"I counted four (zig-zags)," the exhausted, cramps-agonized Epps said of the game-winning play that was culminated with Hopkins’ two-point conversion run with 36 seconds remaining. SouthWest claimed possession with 55 seconds showing.”
You have to subscribe to The Wilson Times to read the full story. Between the sports and the Wilson County Sheriff Race it is well worth my $9.99 a month subscription.
I hate I didn’t video this game because I don’t think there will another game like this in a long time. I would love to have this game on my website. I will have to see can I get a copy of this game.
This is what happens when you don’t give up.
