Monday, February 21
5 pm, the N.C. State College of Education hosts Judge Howard Manning, speaking on the Leandro Case in North Carolina; McKimmon Center, Western Blvd, Room 1-D.  The Leandro case, presided over by Judge Manning, was brought by low wealth counties in 1994, challenging the way the state financed education.

North Carolina have banded together in each even year to share information on public policy issues apt to come before the next session of the General Assembly. Their efforts have result in a "Draft Women’s Agenda" published in late summer as an educational tool. Morning  Session: Jones Lecture Hall, Flowe Building.  Lunch: President’s Dining Room, Belk Dining Hall. SUN 1/30.  6pm.  Triangle Freethought Society – Dr Barbara Forrest to speak, Update on the Wedge: Intelligent Design Creationism Since the Dover Trial.

Discussion  will touch on themes surrounding public education, separation of church and state, and updates regarding the Intelligent Design (ID) movement since the landmark ruling in Kitzmiller et al. v.
Dover Area School District (2005).  Dr. Forrest was an expert witness for the plaintiffs during the case.  Dr. Forrest’s presentation will be part of TFS’s monthly business meeting. The business meeting will begin at 6:00 p.m.
