The Senate voted 31-19 to override Gov. Beverly Perdue’s veto of the $19.7 billion state budget. The vote means the spending plan will take effect July 1 for the 2011-12 fiscal year.

House lawmakers voted 73-46 to override Gov. Bev Perdue’s veto of the two-year state budget. The override bill will now go to the Senate, which is expected to take up the issue on Thursday.
