TORNADO TOUCHES DOWN AT WIGGINS CROSSROAD
Several storms that moved through Edgecombe County late Wednesday afternoon knocked down trees and damaged power lines near Tarboro and Pinetops, according to the National Weather Service in Raleigh.
Darin Figurskey, meteorologist with the National Weather Service, said that around 4 p.m., a series of storms caused damage on N.C. Route 1202 southwest of Pinetops. (Wilson Times)

I have not seen any media visit Wiggins Crossroads. I wonder why? But it is all good.
The tornado touched down around 4:00 PM at Wiggins Crossroads and we were without lights until around 10:30 PM.
Today EMC has been out since around 7:00 AM this morning replacing telegram poles until about 5:00 PM. There were no traffic on Davistown-Mercer Road and Silent Night Hill Road. I had to go around 9 miles out of the way almost to Tarboro to take my children to school in Pinetops. My son attends G. W. Carver Elementary School in Pinetops which is about 4 miles from where we live and my daughter attends SouthWest Edgecombe High School which is 2 miles away. After taking them to school I parked my vehicle across the road on Hwy 111/122 and jumped the ditch.
This evening when the road was finally opened, I was able to count 11 –12 light poles that had been replaced.
On yesterday I was able to drive through a vacant lot that connected to a lot two houses down from mines, however it was raining heavily this morning and I chose not to take a chance of the ground being too wet. C. Dancy II – DCN Publisher
EMC Electric Membership Corp. Vice President of Operations Rodney Bradley said the storm knocked out power to 1,500 of its customers in Edgecombe County Wednesday. Most of the damage was around Pinetops, in the Wiggins Crossroads area, he said, with power restored to all but three customers as of this morning. (Daily Southerner)

Suspect tornado touch down between Pinetops and Tarboro NC at Wiggins Crossroads
A suspect tornado touched down around 4:00 PM today at Wiggins Crossroads Hwy 111/122 located 3 miles from Pinetops and 7 miles from Tarboro. The wind wiped out about 6 – 8 telegram poles on Davistown-Mercer Road about one mile from SouthWest Edgecombe High School leaving about 40 – 50 homes without lights. It will probably be several hours before we have lights.
Atleast three to four houses had minor damage. The wind left the yard of Curmilus Dancy II with much tree debris as limbs from several trees left the front yard full of debris and one nice size tree limb that almost touched one of the bedrooms. There were no structure damage to the house.
The house beside the Dancy home had some structural damage as the wind tore some siding off the home of Barbara Pitt. The Pitt yard also had some tree debris from a couple of trees.
The house beside Ms. Pitt the wind disconnected the chimney from the roof.
My daughter India Dancy called me about 3:50 PM to tell me that there were some some strong wind and my wife Brenda Dancy, my son Curmilus Dancy III were behind the couch. She called me back around 4:00 PM and said there were some trees down and one close by the bedroom window and she thought a tornado had touched down.
Luckily there was no major structural damage nor any injuries at Wiggins Crossroads. There were some damage reported about 2 – 3 miles down the road at Fox Hollow in the Lewis Community however I have not been to that location.
My son and I had to go to Walmart to pick up a couple of things and we are at Bojangles in Tarboro at the present using their wireless internet.
