Tarboro NC: Gurley chooses Georgia – Daily Southerner

TARBORO — Tarboro Viking superstar running back Todd Gurley II has picked Georgia to play his college football.

Gurley had narrowed his choices down to Clemson, Georgia and N.C. State.

Gurley had a stellar season during his senior campaign for the Vikings. He earned his second straight NCHSAA 2-A state championship game MVP after he rushed for 262 yards and four touchdowns. It was the Vikings third straight 2-A title in as many years. (More)

Tarboro’s Gurley to make his decision Friday – Rocky Mount Telegram

The phone calls from recruiting services and the visits from college coaches soon will end for Tarboro’s Todd Gurley.

The senior, who led Tarboro to its third consecutive NCHSAA 2-A state football title in December, is ready to make his college choice, and that announcement will happen at 2 p.m. Friday in his school’s gymnasium. (More)

Tarboro’s Gurley named MVP of Shrine Bowl – Source: The Rocky Mount Telegram

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – North Carolina scored 20 unanswered points early in the second half Saturday to win 26-19 against South Carolina’s high school all-stars in the 75th annual Shrine Bowl.

Tarboro’s Todd Gurley scored two rushing touchdowns in the third quarter to give North Carolina its first lead after trailing 13-6 at halftime. Gurley had 119 yards on 19 carries and two touchdowns to earn North Carolina Offensive MVP. (More)

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – During the press conference prior to the state high school football championship games earlier this month, Tarboro coach Jeff Craddock approached Mark Barnes of Shelby’s Crest High School.

Barnes, whose Crest squad was playing for the state 3-AA title, would be coaching Tarboro’s star running back, Todd Gurley, a week later in the annual Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas all-star game. Craddock wanted to give him an update on Gurley, who had been hampered by an ankle sprain since the first week of the 2-A playoffs. (More)
